I'm soon to be a father for the second time, and can't commit to 3-5 hour blocks of playtime, face to face or online. However, in the fall when I'm going to have free time again, I want to run 5e D&D for my group and I'll run one of the modules. I don't really care which, the caveat is I want to experience it as a PC before I DM it.
I can post frequently, I already have several character concepts and although this will be my first 5e character, I am not new to D&D and have passing familiarization with the system due to watching Critical Role. I've done PBP before on another website, and it went well enough for my tastes, although it was run "Theater of the Mind" which I didn't like much. I enjoy the tactical aspect of combat, and theater of the mind removes the influence of positioning, skills, feats, etc... too much. I'm hoping to have some kind of rudimentary grid type map.
In any case, I hope there is enough interest and a willing DM to get this off the ground in the near future.
Hi Kerrec! First off, congratulations on the soon to come daughter or son! : )
I'm rather fond of the "Sunless Citadel" (originally a 3rd edition module adapted for 5th edition in "Tales from the Yawning Portal") as a nice level 1 to 3 campaign. I've run it on discord by the book and I'm running a kobold-focused variant right now on the PbP forums here, I wouldn't mind setting up another traditional PbP of Sunless Citadel, and I have gridded maps of the dungeon so it should be possible to have tactical combat.
If you get around to DMing it for yourself, I recommend getting two things in addition to the Yawning Portal: a copy of the 3rd edition module (optional but it has some details that are left out of the Yawning Portal edition), and digital versions of the dungeon maps by Mike Schley (https://prints.mikeschley.com/p185850026).
Anyway let me know if you're interested and I can set up a recruitment thread; I'm thinking of limiting it to about four players since that's what the module was designed for.
EDIT: I just realized that your post was from back in May, haha; maybe you're not interested anymore?

If you're still interested in doing a PBP run of sunless citadel, or anything else from Tales from the Yawning Portal I'd be down to play in it, I've never done PBP before though :)

I would also be interested in a PbP run of Sunless Citadel, if you still want to
It looks like there is interest, I'll create a thread tomorrow to recruit one or two remaining players and we can start! Send me a PM or post here to confirm that you'll take part.

I'm in if you want to DM that. Those adventures sound awesome.
