Yog - [Tortle]Druid/Warlock - Circle of Stars/Celestial (Libretalia)
Opening the door hits you with the gruesome sight of the room beyond. The door opens to wall about twenty feet away, left of the door is where the room opens up. This room is a torture chamber. There's a shirtless man strapped to a rack, being pulled apart. He is obviously in a lot of pain and screaming. An orc is laughing at his pain and is whipping him from time to time. There are 3 iron maidens, one of which seem to be occupied. On the west side of the room is a little kid, about 8 years old crying strapped to a chair. He is screaming and crying and saying something about his sister and his mother. Facing the kid is a young girl about 14 years old. She is strapped to a garrote and is choking and gasping for air as the metal arm presses tightly on her windpipe. Her face is turning red from the lack of air and her tongue is hanging out of her mouth in her desperate attempts to breathe and from the metal device pressing on windpipe. This girl is probably the kids sister. She is still alive but won't be for very long (3 rounds). Another woman strapped to a guillotine is further up north. She is in her late twenties or early thirties. This woman seems to be the kids mother. She has tears streaking down her face while she tries to calm the kid. Another orc stands close to the trio and laughs at them. On the west side is another man strapped down to a table. The bladed form of a pendulum slowly inches closer and closer toward him. He is uninjured but that will quickly change in a few seconds (2 rounds till pendulum reaches him. 1 more round before it goes through him fully). Close to him is a breaking wheel where the broken remains of a child spin around lifelessly. This child has been beaten to death and not too long ago. The orc responsible is standing next to the wheel with a bloodied maul. There is a strange device in the middle of all this death and destruction. It doesn't quite look like a torture device. The device itself looks like it functions using magic rather than mechanics. It is a big purple glass ball with a metal ring around it on a rectangular stone pedestal. Val, Gendan and Elsara (who also tells Runt and Deva) notice that the pedestal bears various magic runes and glyphs not unlike ones seen in wizard spell books. Deciphering the glyphs will take too much time (like scribbling spells from a different wizard's spell book) however, the three of you (because you've seen this symbol before on the mission where Jay exploded) notice the symbol of Affectus Uti etched in various places among the glyphs. Devarus and Elsara notice that the form of magical script or Arcanoscript used on the device is most likely Weavetext though it is hard to say for certain since neither Deva nor Elsara (especially Deva because he isn't a wizard) have seen Affetus Uti and any Weavetext that might be related to it be used by any wizard in any scroll or spell book.
The orcs turn around and notice you when you burst through the door (same initiative as last round) and roar. Deva (23 Dmg: 7) wastes no time in putting an arrow into the closest orc (Orc3). It's roar is cut short by the sudden hit. It glares at Deva.
Map scale is 5ft. White space is put in to make the map look neater but it is still a moveable square. Floor(-), Door(#), Wall (=), Guard Rails (:), Spikes (^), Device (i), Pendulum Table ( ) ), Pendulum Blade arc (|), Iron Maiden - Open (;), Iron Maiden - Closed (_), Rack (~), Breaking Wheel (O), Man (M), Woman (W), Boy (B), Girl (G)
If you get shoved into the Iron Maiden (open), it will HURT. The pendulum blade is magically enhanced so it spins very fast and is very sharp. Standing in the Blade's arc will cause an attack roll to see if it hits you or not.
The party charges in to the room and Deva immediately releases an arrow which sticks to the Orc3's back. It turns around and charges Deva, grabbing him by the face. Then Deva is forcefully thrown on to the ground. As he tries to get up, the orc3 makes a huge over arching swing and brings his maul down on Deva's back. All this happens to the mechanical rhythm of the magical pendulum inching closer to the man's exposed mid-section. He struggles against his bonds to get free but to no avail. The pendulum is now swinging a few inches above his skin. Meanwhile the girl continues to choke and gasp for air which causes the boy to scream and cry even louder. Elsara takes action and quickly moves up to cut the orc3. Her blade has trouble getting through the armor but does manage to cause a cut.
Runt can reach the man on the rack. Val can reach the man but just barely. I assume Runt will free the man on the rack on her turn?
Val rushes up to the man of the pendulum and quickly frees him and pulls him to safety. He seems too traumatized to thank you properly and just gives you a nervous nod. You can tell he's extremely grateful even though he doesn't say anything. As you bring him to his feet however, you notice that he has a limp in one of his legs, a very old injury. It seems most of the captured victims here are those villagers who didn't die fighting the orcs; women, children, elderly and the disabled.
Deva's turn.
Runt, do you attempt to save the man on the rack? Moving there will put you within melee of the orc1 who can try to attack you to prevent your action to save the man.
Although his triumphant grin proved to be short-lived, Devarus pushes through the pain and horror, gathers his Second Wind, and stride into the center of the room. As much as he knew about the script, and as discomforting as it was presence was, he kept his focus trained on his target. "Hey! Gragaba!" He shouts at the Orc tormenting children, butchering an Orcish insult in the process. Whether ignored or not, he fires upon the Orc2. "That's right! I'm talking to you! And unless you want to become my Quiver in the next few seconds, I suggest you come at me!"He challenges it.
Bonus Action: Devarus get his Second Wind, regaining 14 HP.
Devarus runs forward and looses and grabs the orc2's attention. He looses an arrow into the orc's chest as it turns around. It doesn't seem to remember the orcish insult but hitting ti with the arrow seem to have done a fine enough job of pissing it off.
Runt: do you move and attempt to free the man in the rack? The orc1 can make an AoO on you and on successful hit, can prevent you from removing the man.
Val, you already helped a dude. You'll have to wait till next turn to help the girl.
Runt: If you try to smash the table apart, the orc1 will still get AoO on you. However, even if it hits you will still be able to smash the table part provided you pass a DC15 STR check.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
So I will rage. Runt flies into a furry and ignores the orcs as she rushes to the man on the rack, she lifts her hammer to smash the device to atleast stop the his inevitable demise.

Valwarin rushes forward in the room and runs towards the man under the pendulum.
( Movement 40 ft should put him right at his side if I understood the map correctly )
In the final step towards him the wolf turns back into an elf and he frees him from his ties, and grabs him out of the pendulum trajectory.
( Change back is a BA and will spend his action freeing the poor man )

Yes and no. The rack works by pulling the arms and the legs in opposite directions. You need to smash both sides to get it to stop working completely.
...what if i smash the table part? Either way, yes i want to help the dude.
