(Either way, unless others have things to do in town, I presume its straight to Romel after securing the Lizard Cart, if'n its actually possible.)
(I see! Then Deva is understandably flabbergasted about the gold given. If Animesquirrel would like to adjust the mount given, I'm all fine with it.)
(Also, was Cathrine referring to the missing plague doctor or another one named Elyza that previous party members already met?)
Deva just looks wild eyed at Runt for a few seconds, the briefly guilty before settling on the appearance determination. "Quite Right. Team. I couldn't have put it more elegantly, La-.. Mi-... R-runt." He frowns after and says, "Would it be alright if...mn... Nevermind. We can discuss the road, I suppose. Let us be off then, ladies and gentlemen. Time to do some good for the realm, and maybe thensome!"
Gendan was never much into the plague doctor and assumes Val will pick up the conversation in that regard. She thinks the lizard cart is a good plan. “If we need to get somewhere, we might as well do it quickly, let’s take the lizard.”
( Hmm I am afraid Elsara was the link to the plague doctors. In fact Val never tttrusted them and disliked their methods so... He is not the best source to contact them... )
At the Sydil stables, you ask to rent the Lizard Cart to Romel. They hand you paperwork. After it gets filled out (regardless of who does it) they stable man takes you to the vehicle. It is a wooden cart similar to the kinds small merchants use. In spite of the very familiar design, it is far larger than any cart or wagon has any right to be. Then the man brings out two massive riding lizards. Riding Lizards are a special type of reptile that's related to giant crocodiles. Unlike most reptiles, they don't move around by crawling, rather they move on all fours similar to how a tiger moves about. Val had seen this creature before when he visited the circus. These creatures are green, have bright yellow eyes that lack irises, long snake-like fangs, long claws and a coating of scales that is very hard and very sharp. These scales have been ground down however. The scales still offer protection to the beast like armor but it is now a bit less effective and smoother, allowing for it to be either ridden or tied to a carriage or cart. Despite their monstrous size, their speed is comparable to Pegasi. Pegasi are still faster though because unlike these lizards, the winged horses can fly and thus ignore terrain. These Lizards are omnivores so leaving them in a grassy area (which is pretty abundant) will ensure they are well fed. The stable boy informs you that the Lizard cart can hold up to 3000 lbs of weight (not including what the players are carrying. So, it's basically extra space where you guys can keep loot while you move about) without slowing down. The Cart can carry more than that but it will reduce speed. Paying 10GP you guys set off for Romel.
Whoever is driving (not important right now because no random encounters are set to roll for during your trip to Romel.) takes the reins and is informed it is similar to controlling horses. When they receive the word, the lizards bolt, catching everyone off guard. You've traveled twice as fast in the sky on the Pegasus Carriage but you didn't exactly feel the wind hit your face since you were inside a carriage. Now that you're in the open. The speed at which you move makes the wind that hits your face feel like a storm.
Summer 59 Time: 6:00 AM
In the morning of Summer 59, you reach Romel. From far away, everything seems normal: The gates are closed, the walls are untouched, the guard tower is where it's supposed to be. When you get close to the city walls however, you notice that something is wrong. It's quiet, too quiet. No sounds of men, mice or even birds. The guards who were supposed to ask who you were don't say a word. In fact, you don't even see them up in the towers. The towers seem to be empty.
You are standing in front of the city gates. The gates are closed but not locked. If you tie a rope to the gate and all pull, you will be able to open them. What do you do?
Val will keep the lizards a some feet away of the gates and will go down the pescant and tap them wishpering some words of confort while the others open the doors.
Devarus stumbles out the cart as soon as it stops, and dry heaves for the first minute or so. "Ohh... I might be too old for this after all."He groans a bit, and is only maybe half joking. Then he takes in the setting, and slowly draws his longbow. "I don't like the looks of this. You two be careful."

Alright so tying a rope to the door, both Gendan and Runt pull hard. Between Gendan's gauntlets of Ogre Strength and Runt's natural brutish muscle, the door creaks open.
The walls around the town are 40ft high and made of stone. The guard towers are 60ft high. Inside the town from the gate, you see a bookstore to the north west and a large building to the north east. Directly north of you is another large building but this one has two doors. It seems that these doors led to two different shops that shared the building. The town is much bigger than this but because of the buildings, this is all you can see for now. The large building to the North East has a sign hanging from it that reads "The Tidal Hurricane" It appears to be the inn. Close to the two large buildings is a smaller building which appears to be a forge. Of the two doors, the one on the right has a picture of a sword on a sign while the one on the left has a picture of a helmet. It seems that one was a weapon shop while the other was an armor shop. Both shopkeepers must have shared the forge. Even inside the town, it is eerily quiet. At this hour, there should, at the very least, be sounds of smithing from the forge or the smell of cooking from the inn but no. There is no sound or out-of-place smell. It's like the townsfolk all disappeared. This deafening silence and the lack of distinct smells is what is disturbing about the scene before you. This lack of normal and expected sounds and smells is uncanny.
What do you do? (Also it doesn't matter who's rope you used because I'm assuming they took the rope back after opening the door)
While Runt isnt accustomed to large towns, she still knows that in a place like this there should he signs of life. She draws her axe and stands on guard.
Too quiet.

"Putting bluntly. There should at least be bodies if--" Devarus grimaces and shakes his head. "Let's try to keep it quiet for now. Search the place building by building starting with the arms and armor, then that.. Inn over yonder. Try not to touch anything."He says in strained whispers to the group, then motions for Runt and Genden to begin the advance forward, if that didn't mind.

“Yes, arms and armor first.” If Gendan sees any fancy weapons or armor, she won’t be able to contain herself. She will definitely touch it to see what it is.
As the party walks past the gates and into town, 3 creatures from each tower drop (total 6) in behind them. These creatures are wearing chain shirts but not holding any weapons. They look like zombies but something is different. Unlike the normal zombies created by Necromancers, these guys aren't rotting or decaying. They look neither alive nor dead, they aren't inherently scary looking but their appearance fills you with discomfort. They are extremely uncanny, very similar to humans (and other races) but at the same time... not. (Think of these guys as looking like mannequins made of skin and bone instead of plastic. Not taxidermy because those look more realistic). There nails are long but not unnaturally so. Their hair is rough and course and messy. Their skin is a sickly grey. They have the face of dead men. Eyes that are glazed over and devoid of any thought, feeling and emotion, mouth moving like the jaw is controlled by an invisible string. The irises are faded, almost dissolving into the corneas. Their movement is the most disturbing however, they don't move like any living creatures or undead. They move like puppets. It is as if these are corpses whose every limb and movable part is being controlled from above by an invisible puppet master with invisible string. Even when they descended from the towers, they didn't fall, they floated down quickly like a puppet pretending to fall as part of a puppet show. They make no sound on their own, only the sound of them brushing against other objects or walking on the ground.
Sorry for the wait. I've sent Val a PM and if he doesn't respond today, I will move on. I'm waiting so long because I REALLY don't want to have to NPC another PC.
