Devarus had simply nodded to Val, trusting the elf to handle things there. In the meantime, he carried out the plan to search the town. Although if has he went, Gendan appeared a little too preoccupied playing with her cape, he would pause long enough for a quirked brow before setting out to work.

Val might find a room, the floor strewn with debris no longer recognizable as anything more than splinters. He may also find Runt in this room, sweating, breathing heavily, huddled in a corner. He would hear her softly muttering incoherently to herself, her knuckles bloody In an attempt to punch a hole in a stone wall.

Meanwhile Gendan doesn't find anything new. No survivors it seems. As Deva is heading out of town to get the Lizard Carriage. He turns it around the castle. Meanwhile Val sees Runt sulk (in her own way) in the wreckage filled room. Does he do anything?
(Oh shoot. I forgot it was a carriage and not an individual mount thing. Shiiii--Okay. Guess Devarus is walking for his city exploration, unless by some miracle he comes across the sole remaining city watch horse like the start of walking dead. Lol.)

Also the city is quiet. It is not an ominous quiet but a depressing one. There is a soft breeze blowing through the empty city. Not a single soul alive.
The elf nods. “Runt, don’t be so hard on yourself. You were fighting against something very powerful and different that any of what the world has ever known. We all... we all has demons inside us, and that... thing seems to empower them. You are a good person, don’t let that foul magic steal that from you. You have friends that cares about you know. “ he puts a hand on her shoulder and let her to her own waiting for the others.
Once they gather together he says
”I hope that after our report of what happened here they start listen and pays the proper attention to this problem. First the black paladin, now that jester... what if we decided to go to another mission? That fool would had threaten and destroyed another city. We were lucky to find him when we did, before he focused and start his... war. Sooner or later the ones after this will stop making experiments and will launch their real plans. And I fear that we will not be ready for that because they refuse to listen... we need to bring these to higher ears...”
Even if she wasn't quite herself, seeing Runt return again once the group reunites brings a small smile to his face. "I understand where you coming from Val, But as eager as we--" Devarus eyes Gendan. "... Most of us may be to see these two and whoever else is involved stopped, outside the guild, we do not have much clout to speak of as far as I'm aware. Not yet, at least." He lifts a finger. "But, hmm... perhaps... Jevik -- he's an old halfling friend of mines -- would suggest....probably... probably building our rep a little more, I think? I'm still not fully familiar with all guild practices and so forth. But given -- no, I'm certain they wouldn't let more green ventures just choose certain assignments, the same could perhaps be said for the even more important assignments, I think."
Devarus starts scratching his head furiously. "Bah! Either way, until that liquid we left the plague doctor is analyzed, we have nothing more than corpses as are our proof that something big is going on behind the scenes. And even that may not be enough to get them to even let us get our foot in the door."Devarus lets out a tired sigh. "When we make our report, we can at least include a request for advice, or even them perhaps seeing what they can do to put us in contact with the council. But in the meantime, unless any here have a suggestions, we still... 'technically' have time to reach that boat job. At least then we can work on earning the coin to better arm ourselves without relying on the goodwill of others."
"But speaking of jobs."He looks more pointedly to Val and Gendan. "Did you find anything in regards to one responsible for all this?"
(I'm still looking back to dig up the loophole about the boat protection job, but it's the one he's referring to. So that we didn't have to go all the way back to Sydill necessarily. Don't Suppose one of you spellcasters have sending?)

Also, a reminder of the coast mission:
Message 3:
"WANTED: Mercenaries to board a Union Ship and set sail to hunt down pirates. The waters of Tristar Sea near Cosmer have been plagued by Orcish pirates of late. A few merchant and passenger vessels have been attacked thus far. We plan to put an end to this piracy once and for all. However, we are currently understaffed. This is why we are recruiting mercenaries to join the crew of "The Vortex" as she sets sail to hunt down these pirates. Each participant will be paid a total fee of 250 Platinum Pieces. However, this payment will be given only upon successful mission completion. Nautical or Military experience preferred but not necessary. Combat experience mandatory. Price not negotiable." - Cosmer Coast Guard

Val looks to the others.
"Guess she needs a little more time... let's give her space, still I am little bit worried."
Some minutes later it seems that the elf has dissapeared.
Still a little mouse crosses the hallway quickly in the direction of the room that Runt was trying to find her.

Gendan’s wings seemed to just kind of flicker before poofing into a dusty smoke as she realizes more will is required to summon them.

Gendan, thinking of her patron, gives a slight chuckle at “something very powerful and different than what the world has ever known.”
Looking at the horse skeletons, Gendan asks, “So how should we get back to Sydil?”
