Dev laughs with innocent joy, though weakly, when Lokilia transforms back to her normal self.
To her question, he answers, “I’m… okay…,” with false courage. But it’s obvious he’s down to 1/3 HP.
He takes the Goodberries from Normont without argument, and after popping them into his mouth, his complexion reverts a few shades closer to its natural shade of brick red.
“Thank you Normont. Thank you Lokilia!” He saves one of the berries for later.
The tiefling listens attentively to Normont’s thoughts. He answers the gnome's question about a library, “I don’t think I’ve seen any books at all in this place…Oh, wait…,” he interrupts himself. “I guess the crystal windows might have, like, books in them? Cuz at the very bottom of the shaft, just over the big fans, I saw a lot of the crystal windows.”
(This: through the heat haze below he can see a metal grid work or lattice at the base of the shaft, a huge series of blades spins underneath it forcing hot air up the shaft. On the level just above it are a series of displays and panels, the only ones he has seen for the last 7 or so levels.)
“I have a couple of ideas. The first is, do we really need to do something? I mean, we reached what Magnus was looking for, and we know a lot about it. We could just take that back to our um patrons. I wouldn’t want to fight Ms. Mathilda and Mr. Jurgen. They destroyed so many of the shape-stealers and seemed barely scratched.
“The second thing is, they said we couldn’t get out, but, like, an actor person like me can tell you that words are sometimes just words…
“The third thing is, my magic shoes are tired. So I can only do certain kinds of melodies, but like, I can’t put shape-shifters to sleep. Maybe we could rest? It would take most of today for my magic to come back.
“The last thing is… you know how I floated down? If I can rest my magic shoes, then I could make us all float down at the same time.”
“But… if you think we should just keep going… I mean, are you guys doing okay?”
(@Bulya, does Dev think he can use Jurgen's wand, or would it need to be attuned? And is there any kind of roll we could make to try to come up with good theories as to how long it will be before Mathilda an Jurgen return? For example, were they wearing winter clothing, meaning they were prepared to travel overland to get here, or were they wearing "indoor clothes" indicating they could have teleported into the tower from their own palace in Wildemount?)

Normont thinks on what Dev has said for a moment, whilst taking out one of his tools and trying to make the silver wand in Dev's hand glow. If it does, it cannot be magical, if not then there is magic to it.
"Nuts and bolts, Dev. I am not sure. I don't think the Chamber of Whitestone would be happy if I just left. But you three have no reason to stay I guess. And that image of the lady could have been fake, but I did find her body next to the monitor and she had a bag with some things in it that might help. I mean, I am tired as well, but of Mathilda and Jurgen killed as many as you say, surely the path should be mostly clear. If we wait, it will allow more creatures to come perhaps", he replies, really not sure at all.
"My gut tells me to go quickly, get as far as we can before there are reinforcements, and then find somewhere to hole up and rest. But if you three want to try and leave, then that is what we should try and do".
(OOC: Magical tinkering doesn't work on magic items, hence if it glows it is not magic)
"Oh," answers Dev, watching Normont manipulate his tools. "I didn't realize that you were, um... that this wasn't just Magnus' quest, I guess? But if you feel like you need to keep going then..." Dev curtsies to Normont playfully, through the tiredness, "I mean, that's what friends are for, right? I mean... co-workers? questers?...," he self-corrects.

( The wand indeed seems to be magical and with both Normont and Dev examining it it seems to be a Wand of Magic Missiles which someone can add to their Equipment........it does however only have one charge left today.
Everyone make an intelligence check based on one of Devs comments.)
"I would not be opposed to a brief rest," Lokilia says when Dev suggests it. "I cannot shift into any more animal forms at the moment, but I'm still ok for spells." She again looks at the others. "I can provide more berries if they will help."
"I believe this wand can shoot magic missiles", Normont says to Dev. "A fine gift for you, although it is perhaps spent or almost so. Using the final charge can remove the magic entirely so I would perhaps wait before using it'.
"It does beg the question, are they more powerful than us, or just better equipped. Either way, facing them would be too dangerous. As for the quest, this place is very close to Whitestone, and although it was Magnus quest, I cannot leave without making sure it isn't be a threat. I would very much appreciate you staying with me to find out", he adds thankful for Dev's words about friendship.
Looking across to Lokilia and Quinn, "Shall we try and move down whilst the path is clear? Amber can scout and warn us of more creatures, at which point we can hide and rest. Or if you really want, we can look for a place right here".

“Okay,” Dev answers. “There was one or more of the shape-stealers like three levels down. Then under that I put one to sleep, but then there are more further down. So be careful,” the teenager says, as much to himself as to the others He falls into line, trailing the rest of his companions, when they are ready.

Lokilia, Quinn and Normont all look at each other when Dev mentions screens and recall the screens seen on the way down and the information Normont was able to access up above.........there is no library hidden here, the entire silo is a library......if the crystals are like books and the screens are ways to interpret those 'books'........they've been moving through the library this whole time.......but that still doesn't answer what lies below....or at least not completely.....
Normont also recalls the doors were sealed when they arrived......perhaps that is why the staff could not get out? Did it need to be opened from outside first?
Normont follows behind Quinn, wondering at whether the door above is truly closed to them after they managed to enter, and the Dwendalions after them. He will also look for any screens that might he might be able to use with the gems and crystals he found. Or indeed the rod.
He also sends Amber off a little ahead, keeping safely out of reach if possible, with instructions to return the moment she spots danger.

Amber indicated that it was clear down to the level of major devastation from the conflict between the Dwendalians and the creatures, the level was covered in charred remains and scorch marks and a number of broken screens and crystal cabinets.
There was definite movement on the level below however....
"Broken screens and crystal cabinets. They sound like what we need. Although obviously not broken ones. Perhaps there will be somewhere we can hide on that level", he suggests as he follows Quinn and hopefully with the others in tow as well. "I wonder if I can fix one of the screens and cabinets", he then ponders.
“It’s not easy to hide from them,” Dev says, unconsciously rubbing his shoulder where one of them had almost torn his arm off. “They can see through my illusions and they’re always looking. If we get close to them, they’ll find us. Maybe not immediately, but soon.”

"Yea," Lokilia says tenatively. "I'm not sure if we're going to get much rest until we figure things out." She keeps following after the others as she talks softly. "Do we just need to destroy the crystals so nobody can get them? Or you think we'll find something below to help us out?"
"The dead lady from the monitor suggested the defences could be disabled from below. If we can do that then we can move around in safety and decide how to proceed", Normont replies. "There is likely a lot of knowledge stored here, which it would be wasteful to destroy, but I do not want it to fall into unfriendly hands. Whitestone is close, perhaps Lord de Rolo can protect this place if we make it out and to Whitestone?".
"I... suppose?" Lokilia says in reply. "That sounds like a plan then, get below, let's hope we can disable things. Then we get out." She at least seems enthusiastic about the 'get out' part.
The four companions began their descent.....on the shadowed floor below were four of the creatures, two wearing human forms of some sort and two in their native forms looking at something within an alcove.....
The two human forms were moving towards the stairs up that the group needed to descend....
