Rindelk's firebolt hits the ogre in it's big fat belly, burning a small wound. Elila follows up with a mighty blow which angers the ogre, who looks at Elila angrily. Katerielle fires her crossbow and the bolt gets stuck in a thick fur bracer.
The ogre stands up onto its feet and swings its great club two handed over his head to smash Elila...
Great Club Attack: 22 Damage: 19
Elila, being a goliath, is used to being bigger and stronger than her foes. She attempts to intercept the great club with her shield, but the ogre is much bigger than her and the blow so powerful it knocks Elila to her knees, arm numb from the impact.
Elila swings at the massive target, hitting it just as a flaming sphere appears behind the ogre and slams into it. The two vicious wounds from Kitryn's attacks gush more blood and then slow to a trickle as the ogre teeters and eventually falls over. The flaming sphere continues to burn the creature who doesn't seem alive to notice anymore.
(450 XP / 5 = 90 XP each. I will add to Katerielle and Kitryn)
The crumbling castle is neither abandoned nor impenetrable. There is apparent evidence of recently boarded up arrow slits, timbers used to prop up sections of walls that would otherwise risk toppling over and plenty of tracks to imply recent and frequent activity.
Leek (with a passive perception of 12) doesn't see any guards on the outside of the structure.
Get the rogue to do a quick walk around so we can see if there is an alternate entrance. Otherwise I guess we go through the front door, unless we have rope...
ACTUALLY, Gm, I can change into a spider. Could I climb the wall and make a spider web/ladder?
Alternatively, I could climb up with rope in my... jaws? pincers? whatever.
A Giant Spider could, I suppose. But I'm not sure you can change into a Giant Spider. A regular spider can't carry a rope or make a web strong enough to have someone climb.
HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure that whatever you carry on you melds into you in beast shape, then comes back when you change back to your gnome form. So you could technically carry a rope to the top of a wall or something if you burn a wildshape to do it.
I would have to improvise, because the instructions don't explain a roof-access entry. But I'll wing it if you go that route.
Elila attacks with advantage, so hoping to upgrade the hit to a crit: 18
Kat (shooting xbow) attacks with disadvantage due to ranged vs. prone: but she already missed, so can't be worse.

(Everyone can act in round 4?)
Katerielle moves up behind Elila and casts Cure Wounds at level 2...
Heals Elila for: 12
As a bonus action, Katerielle will expend 2 of her 'Balm of the Summer Court' dice to heal Elila further.
Heals Elila for: 5 + 2 temp HP.
Moonbeam on the Ogre

Leek drops a column of Moonbeam directly over the lumbering Ogre.
Kitryn attacks..
Short Sword Attack: 21 Damage: 3
Bonus action two-weapon short sword Attack: 9 Damage: 1

... landing a solid blow.
Rin casts flaming sphere and slams it into the ogre

Elila swings at the orge and using a bonus action to heal herself
Attack: 14 Damage: 7
OOC: can I use my bonus action to heal? Also, can I use my reaction to reduce the damage that was dealt?
OOC: You could have used Stone's Endurance, but Kat healed you full already.
DC 12 DEX Saving throw vs. Flaming Sphere: 4

The party takes the time to calm their mules, sit down for an hour and recover from the battle. (Everyone take a short rest).
By afternoon, the party finally approaches the remains of a crumbling castle, surrounded by overgrown forest, from the south east.
(I will prepare a map tonight. Make any preparations and plans that you wish until then.)
Well, I guess perception tests are in order. Are there any visible guards, are there ways to climb the walls, etc.
Perception: 7
Hmmmmm... A completely abandoned impenetrable castle...

Rindelk looks around
Perception 6
Elila is curious
Perception 4
Rindelk and Elila can't perceive any more than Leek has.
I need a plan. Go in the front door? Look for another entrance? Circle the castle first to get a lay of the land? Send the rogue to scout?
SEEEEEEEE!!!! I told you it's uninhabited and impenetrable!!!!
