The monk yells something in a clearly foreign language that ends in something between a scream and "oi" and attacks the hobgoblin diagonal to him. He stomps on the hobgoblins leg then does a round house to his face. The blow knocks the hg prone (save DC 13 DEX).
The kick to the leg proves to be ineffectual, but the roundhouse kick to the face causes the hobgoblin to stagger, but not enough to knock him off his feet.
The hobgoblin leader deftly dodges Elila and Leek's attacks, but the huge flaming ball of fire that Rindelk sends on a roundabout path slams into the hobgoblin, setting him on fire, which leaves him defenseless against the follow-up fire bolt, which leaves a crater where his ear once was. The leader falls over, still on fire, dead.

22 - Human Prisoner (10/26 HP)
18 - Rindelk (6/11 HP)
17 - Elila (14/28 HP)
16 - Katerielle (14/21 HP)
11 - Hobgoblin 2 (0 dmg) <--- Here
8 - Kitryn (10/24 HP)
The uninjured hobgoblin has watched his king and his leader be cut down by this overwhelming force and deduces this is an unwinnable battle. The remaining hobgoblin disengages and runs (30 feet).
Katerielle moves forward towards the fleeing hobgoblin 20 feet and casts Thorn Whip attacking 18 for a hopeful 6 damage and a 10 foot pull back here. "All of you didn't learn from letting the first goblin go?" She asks of the group.
Kitryn and Elila see no need for further risk and let the lone hobgoblin flee. Katerielle and Leek don't see it that way and pursue. Katerielle's thorn whip snags the hobgoblin and drags it back to her feet, where the vine constricts around the creature's neck and it suffocates. Leek's slung stone sails in the air neaby, hitting nothing.
Katerielle will turn without another word from the dead hobgoblin at her feet. She walks back to the bugbear chamber, putting her shield on her back as she goes and pulling and straightening her pony tail her hair is in. Once in the chamber she gets a hide, blanket or large section of door to place the group's employee and friend on, in as peaceful a pose as she can arrange before dragging him outside.
(Recap, since we have a new player and PbP takes so long some people may forget the details.)
Gundren Rockseeker hired a crew of individuals out of Neverwinter to escort a wagon of supplies to the town of Phandalin, with promise of further work afterwards. When Gundren hired the crew, he chose the individuals for specific reasons. Leek was chosen because he was an 'old gnome, who might remember'. Rindelk was chosen because he is a wizard. Katerielle was chosen because of her archeological background. Kitryn and Eren were chosen for their ability to survive, fight and scout.
The escort mission wasn't supposed to be dangerous. There are always bandits about, but with 5 adventurers they shouldn't have found a wagon of supplies worth their time. Gundren even left early with another acquaintance to take care of business in Phandalin. The crew spent several relaxing days traveling down the High Road before turning east onto the Triboar Trail towards Phandalin. Rounding a corner, they discovered the scene of an ambush. Two dead riding horses and evidence that Gundren himself may have been captured.
The crew found tracks to follow and made their way to a goblin hideout. They cleared it out, killing a bugbear leader and freeing an old man by the name of Sildar Hallwinter. Sildar informed the crew that Gundren and himself were ambushed by goblins and bugbears and brought to the hideout. The goblins were keenly interested in a map Gundren carried, and took both the map and Gundren to a place called Cragmaw Castle. Not knowing where that was, the crew and Sildar returned to the supply wagon and completed the escort mission.
Having taken a severe beating clearing the Cragmaw Hideout, Eren decided adventuring life wasn't for him. He collected his pay for the escort missing and bid his goodbyes. The rest of the crew were concerned for the well being of Gundren and set out to ask the locals for information. Unfortunately, they were sidetracked by a group of human bandits that called themselves the Redbrands, who were terrorizing the village of Phandalin. Elila had a beef with the Redbrands and when the crew was attacked, she came to their defense. The one person in Phandalin who seemed to have a lead to Cragmaw Castle first wanted the Redbrand nest cleared out. With no choice, that is what the crew did.
Clearing out an old abandoned manor turned into bandit hideout, the crew found that a friend of Sildar had turned and become the bandit leader. In his study they found papers from another individual who signed letters with an image of a Black Spider. The papers demanded Iarno (the bandit leader) to waylay the crew, drive them out of Phandalin and have any dwarven maps delivered to her or him.
With the bandit hideout cleared out, the contact in Phandalin informed the crew that a druid by the name of Reidoth would be the best chance of learning about the whereabouts of Cragmaw Castle. Unfortunately the druid was off to a place called Thundertree, a small town in ruins after a volcanic eruption drove the populace from the town. Thundertree was known to be infested with unnatural things and to be avoided. Regardless of the risk, the crew set off to find Reidoth in Thundertree. There they found Reitdoth who was less than pleased the crew ignored the posted warnings and entered Thundertree. The druid gave them the information they needed and the crew left, leaving Thundertree and it's woes to the druid.
The crew traveled around the Neverwinter Woods to approach Cragmaw Castle from the South East, the shortest path through the woods. There they assaulted Cragmaw Castle and cleared out a band of Goblins and Hobgoblins, all led by a Bugbear by the name of King Grol. The party overheard King Grol haggling with another and the party once again heard meantion of this 'Black Spider'. (I may have failed to include this information, but I'm telling you now) Unfortunately in the battle, a creature masquerading as a female drow risked her life to kill Gundren and then tried to escape with Gundren's map. The crew caught her in her flight and killed 'her'. Upon dying, the drow transformed into a large blue tinged creature.
The crew, thinking the battle was over, was waylaid by a scouting party of hobgoblins and wolves who were escorting a human bound by ropes. Battle ensued once again and the final hobgoblin was strangled to death by vines. The party now finds themselves in late afternoon, next to the cleared out ruins of Cragmaw Castle, with nothing to show for their efforts but a map.
Holy crow! Another battle like that and I'm up to level 4!
Leek will: 1. find all the dead bodies. Slit their throats and bleed them dry. (I believe I already started that, so I will finish the job and add the new dead to the tally) Once that is done, LONG REST. I'm tired...

Elila looks askance at her companion, feeling a little uncomfortable. However, waste not, want not. She goes over the bodies to see if they have anything of interest.

The hobgoblins have plain chain mail, longswords, longbows and shields. The goblins have cheap leather armor, scimitars, shields and shortbows. King Grol has hide armor, a hefty but non-magical morningstar and a shield.
None of the corpses have any coin on their persons.
After carefully depositing their employer outside away from the goblinoids, Katerielle will start by going to the room (H19) where she had seen the shield and longsword that she has a vague memory of being asked to look for. She will bring those out first to place by the dwarf, then start bringing out the contents of that room followed by the contents of room (Q19). She will allow someone more, shall we say classically trained to check the crates, chests, jars for any traps before she herself checks them for merchant marks or historical value.
Some time while doing this she will casually mention, "There is still a door we did not open. I would like one of those longbows and a quiver of a share of the longbow arrows or full if no other is interested."
Katerielle will continue to think if Grundren or any one else might mention what or where the map led.
The hobgoblin leader laughs as Elila's weak attack simply slides off its armor. Leek's feeble swordplay is easily deflected with a shield.
No target for Katerielle's attack, so random:
