Daggerdale is reeling from a sudden series of murderous drow raids. As a grave threat to the entire surface world develops in the war-torn dark elf city of Maerimydra, intrepid heroes must discover its source and destroy it, if they can. You have been given.
You are a member of Bregan D'Aerthe, a drow mercenary band based in the drow stronghold of Menzoberranzan. Founded by Jarlaxle Baenre as a means for houseless rogues to survive in Menzoberranzan, the group has thrived and expanded greatly since its inception. Due to its array of skilled soldiers and its many connections with the outside world, Bregan D'aerthe is a valued ally of many powerful drow houses. This band of societal malcontents consists of approximately 150 members (though at times known to employ many more, having nearly one thousand agents at work with the Calimport initiative), mainly houseless males. Bregan D'aerthe has been very influential in the chaotic happenings of Menzoberranzan and has connections with Blingdenstone and has agents in Ched Nasad as well as major cities on the surface, most notably Luskan, Waterdeep, Calimport, and Heliogabalus. It is led by d by the drow psionicist Kimmuriel Oblodra.
I m looking for four level 10. I 'll be using milestone to level up. Use point buy.
Characters should be dark elves and male. If you have a good background and story you may take another race.
Alignment will be evil (preferably lawful since you all follow the rules of Bregan D'aerthe ).
PVP is not the object of the game at all and I will decide if it can happen. You may not like each other but you have learned to rely on one another. You can trust no one else.
Be able to post at least once every two days, preferably once a day except in week ends.
When Try’gan Vandree was called to the chambers of the Matriarch he felt his stomach turn upwards. Beign one of the youngest sons of one of the lesser priestess of the House, his mother wasn’t even daughter of the Matriarch, it was extremely rare for him to be called to such a sacred place.
“Try’gan come here!” The voice of his twin sister called him from the shadows of a service alley, one normally used by the slaves. He hesitated, it was really his sister, could be possible that his sister, out of jelousy, had decided to kill him? No. No his sister and not to him. He forced himself to remember that he was safe in his House, and that his sister had always protected him. Specially since their ritual at Lloth’s Temple when they both finished their training.
He darted off the alley, his tunic doesn’t making a sound. He found his sister covering in the shadows. Her body covered by a thin silk cape and the hood covering her face.
“What are you doing dressed like that?” Asked him
“Hush!” Ordered her “ Mother send me to warn you. It doesn’t matter what the Matriarch says or commands you. You must obey without hesitation. Our fate depends on it. We depend on you brother.”
Despite the care they proffesed to each other, a rare comodity between two drows, she cannot hide the resentement in her voice when she had to admit that she, and their mother, needed him. A male.
Try’gan felt his mouth dry at that very moment. That must be serious.
“Of course sister. You don’t have to worry...”
“You just... do it.” She cut him. She turned to leave, but then stoped, turned on her heels and touched him in the face with the palm of her right hand. In a sudden movement, that caught Try’gan off guard, she kissed him.
She looked in his violet eyes for a moment and, without a word, went away and dissapeared in the depths of the fortress that was their house.
Now he was truly scared.
“It’s even worse than I had imagined “ thought to himself when he was, finally, in front of Troken’ther Vandree, the Matriarch of House Vandree and her daughters, and the other priestess of Lloth. They all were there, alongside the throne of the Matriarch, all wearing their wips and their garments to Llolth. Behind him were the most prominent males of the House. The Master of Arms and his guard of warriors. They were few in number but he knew that he could kill him before he could end one of his incantations. And he wasn’t ready for this. After all this years, that he seemed that had Llolth’s favor, she had retired it, probably because he had gotten confident and relaxed, and now he was going to pay the price. He searched with the look for his sister and mother, and he found them, just at the right side of Troken’ther firs daughter. His sister was trying not to look at him, but his mother was looking intensily, as if she could make him burn just with her glance.
The fact that they all were there, told him that this wasn’t a pleasure meeting, or even a tactical one to discuss the magic wards of the House, this was a display of power of the Matriarch over the rest of the priestess. And he was just but a tool. As he had always been.
“Try’gan Vandree “ started Troken’ther with a sweet and melodic voice “ You had made us proud in the past by finishing your studies at the Academy. You made us happy killing those bastards of Delm’Argo when they dared to attacked us. You made us safe with your ability for the arcane. “
He bowed deeply, he didn’t like were this was going.
“I only tried to contribute to the success of Vandree House Matriarch “ he replied “ with all my limitations.”
”And they are numerous my child, for you are a male. But that’s not your fault, isn’t it?” Replied her with that sweet tone in her voice. “Now, now, are you ready to serve your House and myself once more? No matter what?”
“Yes Matriarach “ he replied even before she finished her sentence. He realised his mistake a second too late. And, uncounsciosly, tensed his body waiting for the retribution that surely will fall upon him. In fact two of the daughters of the Matriarch had grabbed their whips. But the Matriarch raised her hand and the punishment was delayed. Never forgiven.
“Now, now my dear daughters. We must not punish enthusiasm, don’t we? “ he smiled to his little transgresion. “ Now, we will see how much of that enthusiasm turns into loyalty. Listen Try’gan. You are going to be expelled from the House. “
She didn’t continued waiting to see his reaction. He was pale, he knew that, and he felt his mouth went dry. He didn’t know what kind of punishment this was but he knew that it wasn’t meant for him, but for his mother, and probably for his sister too. What they had made? Why this was happening?. “Because you are nothing” he answered himself in his head. He remembered his sister’s words. And the taste of her lips.
“If that is your desire... “ he replied with just the correct gasp in his voice.
The Matriarch waited for a few seconds before contuining, looking at him, evaluating him.
“You don’t want to know why? “ she asked.
“It’s your desire, your words are orders to me, your very wishes my command. You have commanded it. I need no more reason.” He replied.
*To the Nine Hells I don’t need them* he thought feriously.
The Matriarch started to laugh.
“You were right dear “ she said looking to his mother “ He is a faithful dog. That or is more silvertongued that we thought he was. We’ll see. Now listen carefuly.
You are expelled from this house, leave inmediatly and pray your thanks to Lollth that we don’t just kill you. Now, you will head to Brehan D’aerthe and will join them. Once inside you will inform me of their plans and if what one of my little bats had told me. That they are planning an assault to this House. That will be their final demise and I, finally, could be able to call for a raid on that filthy organitation. You will have another mission, since they used to trade with the surface, you will learn all of that trades. You will meet your sister once every month and you will update her. Is that clear? “ she said
”Your will is my desire Matriarch “ he said raising his left hand towards his heart and bowing.
“Now go!” She said. He felt the heavy hands of the Master of Arms grabbing him from the shoulders and start dragging him out. The Matriarch, for some reason, had punished his mother. By exiling him her base of power will be reduced, and she gains a pair of eyes on that organitation ruled by males. A perfect plan.
“Here “ said the Master of Arms once they were at the main entrance of the Vandree compound. Too large for such a small House.
“Some of your things.” He said. Was that... sorrow in his voice? For him? Well now the House arcane denfenses had to be responsability of the young Krybin Vandree, but he was a youngling who just arrived from the Academy. That was probably the reason of that moment of weakness in the, normally, adamantine stoicism of the man.
“You will need them. No one knows yet that you had been expelled, and we will spread the word in just a couple of hours. That should give you enough time to reach them. Go” he turned on his heels and dissapeared behind the iron doors of the House.
Just an hour later he was knocking at D’anenre’s base of operations.
Wizard lvl 10 is ok?
EDIT: I just realised that I play the wizard in your other game XD if you want I can change it, to assasin or even to warrior, but I didn’t wanted to fall in the “Drizzt” routine... ;)
I'd love to be part of this, I will add in more later but I will be submitting Aryil Ke'amar a rogue (Assassin) for consideration.
Aryil is a murderer, plain and simple. He prefers daggers, poisoned if the opportunity allows and his lightning fast reactions normally allow him to get the drop on his prey. He is normally employed by Bregan D'aerthe to remove key enemies before any larger moves are made or to strike decisive blows in house wars that the company have been hired to operate in.
The years of service in Bregan D'aerthe have given Aryil the chance to travel, for a drow he has spent more time on the surface than most, and understands a fair bit about the cultures in the world above. Like most of his race he finds them weak and pathetic which heightens his enjoyment when he is instructed to kill one of them.
Although he loves his work he is a true professional, while on assignment he sticks to the task, and is a trustworthy companion by the standards of the drow. Whilst he wouldn't die for a fellow operative he would do his upmost to ensure the assignment was completed and the mercenary band were as unharmed as possible, after all - who knows when that drow you've just saved might be able to do the same for him.
Through all the trials of his adult life Aryil has been motivated by one thing, the clear and certain knowledge of what his life would have been had Kimmuriel not saved him from it and the gratitude he has to the leader of the band.
They first met when the young and poor Aryil had been accosted by a minor priestess in a side street in Menzo'berranzen. It became clear she planned to kill him for some imagined slight and Aryil saw no choice available other than to fight her, his daggers were a blur and he held out for a long time but she used her magic to hold him in place. As she told him in great detail how she was going to kill him incredibly slowly Aryil found himself suddenly able to move, before she realised the priestess was dead, a dagger buried in her heart and Kimmuriel stepped out of the shadows with an offer of work for the young drow who has considered him a hero ever since.
I would love to play. I am looking for something consistent. I would fill any role but have not played a fighter . . ever . . so I would like to try that. I will edit with a character in a minute.
I am aware of the rules / actions etc. but do not have any clue what a "good" character would be. I won't be min/maxed (wouldn't even if I could) so if that is something that might be needed let me know and I can research some things. I have been playing DMing for about 25 years. I like to write etc.
I assumed that the classes would be limited to maybe fighter, mage, rogue?
Nadal Naerth is. . . was a front line fighter. He believes that the best fighter will win. His longsword is heavier than the usual weapons of his kin but he wears and wields it well. Bull headed, he often refuses to admit that he is wrong - but will follow orders. Wrapped around his wrist and tucked into his armour is a scap of a banner. He will never forget those who wronged him that night.
I would love to be a part of this. It’s been forever since I’ve been able to be a player and I understand that you want the characters to be drow males but I was wondering if I could be a drow female cleric since most drow clerics are female?
Race: Elf (Though if Half-Elf is allowed, I might wish to take it)
Class: Paladin(/Sorcerer - if Multi-classing is allowed. And it'd only be the dip for BG purposes)
Alignment: Lawful Evil
A little excerpt of a potential story:
One flick of the wrist and it would all be over. The prey would go silent, and he would be given another day to scuttle along in the dark crevices of his dear city. Another day to fight down the rise of bile that came when clarity inevitably crept back into mind, reminding him of all that was lost, and will never be his again.
The hope of even that much was an illusion. The traitor was nothing, if not skilled with a knife. Even if he should survive the wound in his back, nothing short of the great spider's whimsical "mercy" would ensure his prolong suffering beneath the shadow of his great -- "their" great city. If he weren't born so wrong, then maybe, JUST maybe he would've felt an actual longing for even the illusion. Instead, the word was just that. A word. Another lie spoken either to torture those that held on to it, or foolish denial of reality.
As he felt the strength begin to leave limbs far too scrawny to be the norm for even his people's graceful figures, he knew that choice was out of his hand. Soon enough, the traitor of house Tuin would stop their fleeing, realizing at first that their pursuers pathetic, malnourished form has finally ceased its remarkable show of defiance of reality by all accounts. The traitor would still need proof of course. They couldn't very well show up to the enemy's of house without some token of proof of his death.
Or maybe the desired something else? As uncanny as his ability to reason was for one so young, he knew not the answer, nor cared for it. As he felt the life slowly begin to ebb from his being, for the first time he began to feel something other than the black and white of following the orders of the females of society, or simply pain.
"Hmm... You will have to suffice."
For well over a century after the events of that day, Nym Tuin has served Bregan D'Aerthe. Not out of misplaced gratitude, newfound joy, or comradery, but for two other reasons. Three, if one counted the subtle machinations of the god Vhauraen had in ensuring his continued time on material plan. It was the god's voice he heard that final day, though 'request' for further explanation has thus far eluded him. But only two that he could call his own, and would note readily when assured the knowledge is necessary to the completion of any given task. He owed the band several debts of service (of which restoring his life was one), and the simple fact of the matter is... there were other debts in the Underdark that need settling. Chief among them of course entailed undermining the house responsible for his own destruction, but more so out of principle than hatred. The fourth reason he keeps tightly to his chest, only to ever accidentally reveal in the rare flash of emotion.
To that end, he works largely as enforcer, though is no stranger to the role of hired killer when it comes to tracking down fools brave enough to betray their last vestige of safety among the drow. Relative safety, in any case. Though he bears the gift of his households past dealings in the form of shared draconic heritage to those of deep dragons, it is the dance across the high-wire of life-and-death he favors the most: both acknowledging and denying his once potential future among the Tuin.

Female would be fine but Loth is not giving any spells or powers in the setting. And Bregan D'aerthe as no love for female drow since they are usually the one who made the males life miserable. You would have to give me a really good background story.
I would love to play. I am looking for something consistent. I would fill any role but have not played a fighter . . ever . . so I would like to try that. I will edit with a character in a minute.

Oh I know. I have good knowledge of drow. Well from the drizzt books anyways. Was just wondering. Thanks! Trying to think of something. Maybe a shadow monk/Rogue be ok?
Note: still to play my 1st game, been reading the PHB and DMG, got some idea of the drow race from the Drizzt books as well.
Character:
Waeso du H'Kar du Bregan D'aerthe
He left his house shortly before it was invaded by a rival one and completely destoyed, he hated it there as a near slave simply for just being a male, rejecting his house's name.
Decided to join the Bregan D'aerthe as he admired them for being a place where males are accepted and equal. Previously with a master and after with his mercenary group, he always trained hard to become stronger, until something awoke in him, he learned to channel that energy, he also trained with the drow pristress weapons, as it gave him imense pleasure to use their own weapons against them.
Whenever he goes on raiding he may turn some of his rage against the lolth pristresses and sometimes forget stealth and strategy due to it, still he always follows orders and won't attack one of the hiring house openly.
He chooses Zizerena as his diety as an opponent to Lolth, despite the drow lore saying she is dead.
Class: Monk (way of the kensei)
Allignment; Chaotic Evil (Not Chaotic Stupid, not sure if it is the right allignment, but I want him to feel a high hatred for the pristresses and kill them whenever possible but still follow the rules of the mercenary group, was undecided by chaotic or neutral, I feel like lawful wouldn't attack the hiring house if given the chance to do so secretly)
That’s fine I originally created her with a hatred of loth and serves a different god and she usually disguises herself as a male to get work. I’ll type up her backstory really quick.
I would love to play. I am looking for something consistent. I would fill any role but have not played a fighter . . ever . . so I would like to try that. I will edit with a character in a minute.

We have a wizard and a rogue already though.
Thanks. I am really not picky. I thought I fighter might be decent since I have not experienced that. Are bards a possibility? I would love to go ranger and not like our special elf. I am familiar with the setting but I am not sure how the classes would work out exactly. . specifically with Bregan D'Aerthe. If ranger or bard works I will make one of those and get back today.
I'll toss my hat in to the ring...if a monk would be ok....
Balmaris Amakiir - Male drow Way of the Shadow monk
Having found himself saved by Bregan D'Aerthe and proven his worth at a young age Balmaris now facilitates as a scout for the company where he had become exposed to other cultures and experiences. As a boy, he was always considered a bit of a weakling - certainly not strong enough to survive Melee Magthere to be a useful house soldier - nor smart enough to be even considered for Sorcere, Balmaris's saving grace was his natural agility which allowed him to often escape torment by his siblings and those of other houses. It was one of these times he escaped a severe beating that he decided he would be safer alone in the wilds where he first encountered the mercenary band and they took him in. He spent many years using his speed and dexterity as a runner for the group, eventually landing himself in Maerimydra. It was while he was out scouting near Zhentil Keep where he met a human by the name of Rishley the Snake who despite his diminutive stature could best just about anyone in a fight with nothing more than his bare fists. Fascinated by his skills, eventually he befriended and convinced him to train him in the ways of the monk. Under the tutelage of Rishley, his skills continued to grow and he started to experiment with ways of combining his natural heritage and his martial skills and becoming a practitioner of the Way of Shadow. This eventually garnered the attention of Valas Hune, where he found himself a kindred spirit and fellow scout. Within the ranks of Bregan D'Aerthe, Balmaris finally felt like he belonged and a sense of purpose.

Ranger would be fine. No worries about looking to much like the "other" dark elf. You are going to be on the wrong side of good.
Mystla by drow standards is a young drow around 130 years old. She has dark blue skin with white hair. She is about 5’ 10” tall and weighs around 105lbs. She has chain tattoos along her collar bone and across her arms and legs that she tries her best to keep covered. When she was a child and starting her training as a priestess she opened an ancient tome about the deity Tharzidun in the cities library and saw things unfit for a sane mind. She burned the book, but it’s words and images are burned into her psyche. Not long after that she started hearing a voice calling to her but no one else could hear it. Eventually her entire family was slaughtered in a raid from a lesser house and she managed to escape and survive. She cast aside all her teachings, traditions and beliefs in Loth and drow society for they had forsaken her and her family. She fled to the surface world where she lived where ever she could find shelter. To find work she started disguising herself as a male as being a female drow people assumed she served Loth and would curse them. Over the years the voice kept haunting her not only in her dreams but every waking moment so she started studying about the deity and thought that maybe he would have the power to get rid of whatever was haunting her. She started praying to Tharzidun asking for his help and power, he obliged and without knowing it she sold her soul to him and became a Cleric of Tharzidun. He granted her power, which until that moment she could only dream of. After awhile of studying and practicing she started to learn of her divine powers granted to her by Tharzidun. And with these newly found powers she started doing mercenary work and other job done by unsavory folk all while secretly spreading the belief of Tharzidun to others she could try to manipulate. Until one day she heard of a mercenary group of only male drow that peaked her interest so she decided to investigate it and see what she can learn and if she like what she saw she might try to join.
Would like to participate in that game. I have been DMing in homebrew/faerun based campaign for a few years now, and I'm desperately looking to play a bit.
I would play either an oathbreaker paladin (if there is a necromancy oriented wizard/sorcerer/cleric in the group) or a conquest paladin, as both concepts fit quite nicely within a drow, underdark campaign. He'd be LE with a Noble background.
Cyrhan is of noble birth. Or was. He used to be part of a noble house, until most of his house got either killed or bribed away by another ambitious family. Cyrhan, while as cruel and arrogant as any drow, never was of the betraying type. His family was weak, sure. His family leader probably deserved to be replaced and killed for his weakness, no argument there. But one should not betray his house for a few coins or the promise of a position of power. So he killed as many of the opposing family as he could, and fled once it became too dangerous. He joined the Bregan D’Aerthe soon after and started fulfilling contract for them ever since. He lost all his noble pretentions, even if he kept his disdainful attitude, but got into adventuring, leaving town as often as he can. He is a heartless bastard, cruel and brutal, but he is as reliable as a drow can get.
It’s a basic background, to be developed, with many places for nemesis and threats. In order to “ciment” the group, I’d love if that character was the brother or a drowish type of friend to another character. Playing Evil is hard enough, and I’m not huge on PvP.

EDIT: I just realised that I play the wizard in your other game XD if you want I can change it, to assasin or even to warrior, but I didn’t wanted to fall in the “Drizzt” routine... ;)
PbP Character: A few ;)
Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
Lyreis - Level 6 Elf Fighter - Eberron: Omega
DM - Dzenda: The Cracks - DM - Dzenda: Whispered Tales
When you realize you're doing too much: Signature.

Note: still to play my 1st game, been reading the PHB and DMG, got some idea of the drow race from the Drizzt books as well.
Character:
Waeso
du H'Kardu Bregan D'aertheHe left his house shortly before it was invaded by a rival one and completely destoyed, he hated it there as a near slave simply for just being a male, rejecting his house's name.
Not sure if you can acess, but this is my char sheet: https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/coolasc/characters/3173920
That’s fine I originally created her with a hatred of loth and serves a different god and she usually disguises herself as a male to get work. I’ll type up her backstory really quick.

Would this work?
Hello!
