OOC: Krackle would definitely seen out Faelsin for 500 gp before they end up separating...
Krackle would have taken a few steps away from Zeds. The kobold still had his friends back, but was hoping to avoid any anger from Bog Luck. He moves to inspect the crates that they were told to watch and attempts to get a peak at what is inside... hoping to quietly open a crate and determine its contents...
The cook grabs a wooden bowl and slops on what you can only guess is either a very blended chili or gruel. Even the smell does not betray what it could be. He then pours Ixsas a cup of stale ale. "That will be 5 gp. If you want something fancier than that would be 10 gp"
From looking at the stove the fancier option looks to be a fish stew with buttered baked potatoes. On the Shelf near the stove are some better-quality wines and ales
Already having gone up to get dinner when Bog Luck walked away to talk to the caravan leader, Ixsas misses most of the subsequent drama. He also didn't know about Faelsin paying Serge for his guard work so far, but he certainly didn't expect a small dinner to cost more than a couple of silver. He looks at the poor meal and then squints up at the cook. "I may be far from my homeland," Ixsas says with his Calishite accent, "but this is not my first meal since coming north of Amn and the Cloud Peaks." He leaves the accusation that the cook was trying to cheat him unspoken. Ixsas can be overbearing in speaking of his faith, but he was also taught to be polite to strangers and to expect hospitality from his host. Therefore, his tone is firm but still calm and polite: "Did you mean to say that this meal is 5 copper and that the fancier fare is one silver piece?" Ixsas doesn't make much of an argument for his case, but he hopes that offering the cook a chance to "correct" himself will be sufficient.
Ixsas tries to size up the cook. Is he just an overworked peasant who is simply trying to squeeze strangers for a few extra gold pieces? A more thoroughly wicked scoundrel with no moral compass? Or something more dangerous hiding under the guise of a barely competent cook? Insight27
Serge hefts the pouch of coin in two hands. "Heh. Hazard pay. Got it. Well... thanks for the company, and I hope we did right by you and your team. I wish you well on the many long roads ahead."
He turns and returns to the main part of the compound. Having mostly kept to the outskirts so far, he takes a deep breath and then clears his throat.
"Hey!" he says, voice raised. "Where can a bruised and battered guard buy himself a bottle of strong drink around here?"

Ixsas insight reveals the cook not overly worked but is just trying to squeeze more coin out of the travelers who stop by at Carnath Roadhouse. The cook considers what was said and says "How about 1 sp for this slip and 1 gp for the fish stew"

Trusting that he can borrow money from his friends, Ixsas takes out his last gold piece. He says knowingly, "One gold piece is still a dear price for the fish stew, but I am curious about this place. It is my first time in Carnath House." He places the gold coin on the table and holds it down with his fingers. Then he looks at the cook and says, "I'll take the stew for 1 gold piece if you'll also include a better drink and tell me what you know of this place and about the recent gossip you've heard from the teamsters who you serve here." If the cook agrees, Ixsas slides the coin over to the cook.
Zeds walks purposefully over to the caravan leader indicated. Not aggressively, just as if he knows exactly who he needs to talk to and has no reason to think anyone would top him. Assuming he does get to approach her he goes right into the issue... "Is it true? We're to serve Bog Luck and not continue on from him?" He complains. "My understanding was we were to make our way here to join up with the caravan, if possible... We agreed to serve her, not Bog Luck!"
All in all Zeds is deliberately misunderstanding what Bog Luck said to her in the hopes that the clarification will either reveal information about where the caravan is heading next or out and out get Zeds and crew an invite to join it...
OOC: whoops, I thought Bog Luck told us to watch the crates.
((He told us to watch the door of the room the crates are in... Which seems pointless and not likely to get us any info which is why Zeds is pushing for more...))
((He told us to watch the door of the room the crates are in... Which seems pointless and not likely to get us any info which is why Zeds is pushing for more...))
((The party hasn't gotten together to discuss it, so I was waiting until then to say more. But I figured that Zeds and Krackle would just wait until no one else was around at night. Then Zeds could pick the lock on the door, and we could check out what's in the crates. But actually joining the Dragon Cult's caravan sounds like an exciting gambit.))
Serge jogs up the stairs, likely noticing Ixsas eating his own lunch.
He approached the cook, or anyone who looks like a likely server. "Alright, lads. It's been a long, dry road and I've just collected my pay. Who wants to sell me a bottle of something to curl my whiskers?"

The cook takes the gold coin and offers the fish stew with a much better ale. "Well since you have paid my name is Gristle Pete. Ass for gossip I don’t get no sleep from all the critters in the floors banging and knocking and hissing and whispering at all hours."
The caravan leader looks down at Zeds "Yes Bog Luck have conveyed my orders accurately. Stay here as guards. If anything changes look to Bog Luck. Now move away I must leave"
Krackle looks up to Zeds and whispers to his companion. "Well... do we try to sneak inside and take a look" He looks around to see how many people are watching them. "i'm no lock can keep both of us out."

From where you are standing Krackle can see room 4 has a metal door with a strong lock on it.
