"I've never been told I snore... but then again I don't remember the last time I slept close enough to anyone for them to be bothered by it if I did.." Omen would reply to the large bugbear.
When they reached the fairy house, Omen would stand back... confused by the plant growth as he studied it from afar. He would very slowly circle the house, trying to get an idea as to whether the plants had simply grown around the house... or if the plants had been used to force entry into the house.
nature check? 6
while looking over the plants he would, he would also scan for anything that seemed out of place or anything that might be a trap along the exterior of the building...
Amery lets out a low whistle as he sees the overgrowth of plants. "This cannot have been just from 2 days. The plants must have been changed somehow. Alchemical fertilizers or some druidic magic I do not know. Look how it creeps into the doorway." He gives the plants a wide berth and looks around to see if there is a better way in devoid of the thorny plants.

"Then the dissaperances isn't going the unique mistery we are going to solve these days..."replies Thar with a wink and clearly joking.
While Omen and Amery examine the exterior of the building attempting to figure out what may have caused such growth, Kit takes the more direct approach. Carefully avoiding the thorny vines, she steps through the front door. Even when circling the house, Amery is unable to find a better place to enter. The house is rather small, and the only other door would have opened up to the patio, which has been completely overtaken by vines. The front door is the easiest way in.
There is no clear sign that anyone forced an entry. Even when observing the broken door, it appears to have simply started decaying rather than have been broken by physical force. The small bit of light coming in through the doorway and the cracked windows reflect off the dust particles floating amidst the decaying furniture. The living room looks as if it were in good order before whatever happened here happened.
There is a door on the far end of the room, and one on the right side of the room.

Looking closer at the scratches, you don't think that this was caused by someone or something being dragged. They are two shallow and to uniform. The closest thing you could compare them to would be a cat scratching it's claws across the wood.
"Not a person being dragged, but cat scratches. Hmm...perhaps it's a pet." He then heads to the door on the right and opens the door slowly to see what is inside. Maybe the cat is in here he thinks.
Omen would grin as Kit made her way inside. He was in no rush and wanted to make sure that nothing was missed outside before moving into the house. Not seeing anything outside, Omen would follow behind Amery. "So I wonder if there is a dog around here we need to worry about." The kenku would reply as he steps past the thorny growth. Once inside, he would immediately begin looking for anything of value left behind. If this were a robbery of some kind, anything of value would have been taken along with the fairy.

Kit had an idea: there was a fairy hut out of town minus the fairy. Checking it out was a good lead for clues and like a hill giant, we were hungry to get some. We booked some rooms at the inn for later and headed out to see what we could find. The house was at the edge of the forest so we got there fast. The house looked like my ex: I've seen better. It was overgrown with weeds and shrubs most dryads would take a hard pass on and from the looks of what remained, whoever lived here certainly vacated the premises longer than just a mere two days ago.
Lulu, you take point above the roof. Get me a birdeye view of the place.
She shot me back the mental equivalent of a shoddy salute before fluttering off towards the sky. The others already headed into the cottage. Damn rookies: not even bothering to check for traps. Every adventurer thinks they're gonna get their end throwing down with a demon or two but more likely than not, it's falling through a rotten piece of wood, breaking your leg and starving to death that does you in.
'Don't like it.'I told the others after I followed them in last. 'Not one bit. There's too much magic lingering here. Someone's been conjuring things here. My guess is that whatever got called, didn't want to be here all that much.'
I traced my finger through a layer of dust and blew it off the tip. 'Enchantment too. Misleads the mind and dulls the senses. Same thing as in the inn.'I glanced at the group. 'Remind me to tell you about that later.'
Suddenly my nose crinkled. An odor most foul assaulted my nostrils. Rotten, decrepit, with a hint of sin against nature. 'Necromancy.'The word rolled off my tongue like a cart with three wheels. 'It's faint but it's there.'
Can Kalgren use Detect Magic to pinpoint or single out specific spots or objects that radiate magic?
"That makes sense, the house is literally decaying away, " Kit says to Kelgrin, indicating the door.
It's like the forest is forcefully reclaiming this place. Remember how things got emptier the closer we got to the edge of town? I'm actually surprised the fairy was targeted. My first guess would have been Fey. Maybe we're dealing with some kind of druid?
Kit turns to the others with a bit of a smug smile. "Or did you investigators already work that out while you were playing outside?" she says as she gives Omen a playful wink.
The place does not appear to have been robbed. Aside from the decaying furniture, an ornate lamp sit on the round coffee table between the two small couches, and there are three silver candle holders above the mantle of the fireplace. There's even a cabinet of what looks like antique figurines sitting to one side of the far door.
Above the house, Lulu confirms what Amery found during his initial surveillance. Half of the roof is covered in a mass of thorny vines with serrated leaves.
To Kalgren, all of the vines glow with the aura of Conjuration magic. The enchantment magic is faint, like smoke lingering after a long extinguished fire. Perhaps whatever cast it, or had it cast upon it is no longer here. The necromancy, emanates from the room Omen is currently investigating.
Luckily, the house doesn't seem to have any active traps within it. After making sure of this, the kenku tries the door, which swings open after a light touch. This door leads into the bedroom. The bed sits on the far end under a still shuttered window, small rays of light making their way inside. This side of the house seems to be the least touched by decay, but the dust particles still hang in the air. The bed still looks mostly made, though the top sheet is slightly displaced, and there is still an impression of a small head in the pillow.
Perception DC 14
You smell the faint sent of blood emphasized by the sent of roses. The smell grows stronger as you get closer to the bed.
Omen smelled blood as well, giving Kit a knowing nod as he made his way towards the bed. He would slowly inch forward with Kit right behind him. He would draw the rune covered dagger from inside his cloak with one hand while reaching towards the sheets with the other. Once positioned next to the bed, he would hold his dagger ready to strike while slowly taking hold of the sheet. Then in an instant he would quickly rip the top sheet off the bed with his gloved hand... prepared to plunge his dagger into anything that may try to harm him.
Both of you find the sent of blood odd, since you can't see any anywhere. Cautiously entering the room, Omen rips the sheet from the bed revealing....a small rose plant. Small branches with tiny thorns and small serrated leaves grow out of the mattress itself with a single flower topping the plant. To your surprise, as soon as the rays from the setting sun hits the flower, the plant immediately begins to wither, red petals and dark green leaves turning black and curling in on themselves until the entire plant is nothing but dead vines.
Kit's divine sense does not pick up anything in the area, however Kalgren pinpoints this specific plant as the source of the Necronic magic he had picked up on earlier.
"Well it didn't like sunlight...." Omen would say with a look of confusion. "I assume these things probably come at night.." He would add looking out the window towards the setting sun. He would then carefully kneel down on one knee with his dagger at the ready before looking under the bed.
