Shortly after your interview with the three white masks you received a message. You followed the instructions so here you are in a darkened slaughterhouse at midnight. The blood stains of hogs and sheep still paint the floor. Cleavers, hooks and knives swing gently in the cool night breeze. Shiny steel occasionally catching a glint of moonlight. A black cloaked figure enters from the back. He raises his head to look at the five of you revealing a nondescript green mask. "So you are my new crew." He strokes a bloody cleaver hanging near him. "The old crew just couldn't... cut it anymore. I trust that you'll fare better. If you do not, well... we found you didn't we." He hands Monio a bag of 20 gold coins. "This is an investment in this crew to cover your expenses. Nothing ventured equals nothing gained. Three nights ago a girl name Cassy Vell went missing. Quite beautiful they say but a commoner and really of no concern. Except that her older sister is the favorite courtesan of Field Marshall Smythhammer. Now old Smythy has to keep his favorite strumpet appeased so he's offered a substantial reward. You're going to find her then pose as the original kidnappers, demand and collect a ransom. Then we'll return her safely for the reward money as well. So... are you up for this or do I have to stay up late cleaning up lose ends?"
Amaryllis nods at Tzidon's question. "Also, where does she live? What does she do for a living? Anything you can tell us about her?" She continues "But more importantly, what's our cut of the ransom and award money?"
Raze scrunched her nose as she stood with her companions. A slaughterhouse was definitely not the worst thing that she's ever smelled, but it certainly wasn't pleasant. She surveyed her companions from behind. To her left, a large mountain of a man blocked half her view of the contact the Guild of Silence sent. "Why is he so large. How is he so large?" Raze asked herself as she studied him. "He's got to have some Goliath in him" she concluded. To her right stood another man, not quite as large with the stink of magic about him. "Not that mages actually stink" Another whiff of old blood tickled her nose. "They actually usually smell quite nice, up in that stuffy ol' college of theirs."In the front of him stood a half elf woman, her priestess robe a beacon of purity in this dismal hole. "Now that's an interesting sight. What the hell is a priestess of Vesta doing here?? Maybe she's lost."Raze snorted."Or trying to lead us to salvation." Her final companion stood closest to their contact. He was quite plain, his ears pointed barely enough to signify his half elven heritage. "Sneaky one, that one"She thought, spotting some lockpicks poking out of his pouch. "Definitely watch out for him."
Raze watched the green masked man pass a sack of gold to the magic man while he explained what he wanted them to do. Excitement mixed with nervousness sent butterflies through her stomach. This was a real job, not some smash and grab like her guild was so fond of, or even a home invasion that Raze took upon herself when the tip was especially juicy. This job required skill, planning, and questions... wait, balls, they're asking questions. Raze racked her brain, thinking of other useful tidbits that would be good to know. Raze was about to speak when the priestess shot off a volley of questions, ending on ones pertain to reward. "Not lost then..." she thought to herself. She looked to their handler and waited for his answers.
Having worked in the kitchen of the tavern in his small, mining village of Marcen in his younger years Monio was no stranger to a little animal blood. He often found himself having to butcher the chickens, and an occasional lamb, for the day's meals. However, the most unnerving thing about this encounter to him is seeing for the first time his new co-workers. He gives everyone a quick glance as their "boss" prattles on, trying to get a feel for them. Though a cool evening perspiration is already forming on the brow, but Monio does not look nervous. He produces a rag from his pocket and dabs the beads of sweat away.
Coming back to the masked individual, he just shoots him a crooked smile and shakes his head at the apparent attempt of intimidation: What is it with all the masks for these guys. "Oh, uh...okay,"he takes the proffered bag of gold, the scales on his hand and inner forearm shimmering from what little moonlight has made it inside. He checks the heft of the bag in his hand to get a sense of the amount they were given. Satisfied he stuffs the coin purse in his dull, red robes. "So, bad puns aside, I think that sounds interesting." Adding to Amaryllis' question, "Being new to this town and all, what kind of pull does this Smythhammer have? Of some importance I imagine, and hopefully deep pockets?"
Bunko nods his head with his arms folded in front. He is waiting to hear about his cut. "Sooo.....whoever is currently holding young Cassy....I"m guessing we can feed them to the fishes?"
"Cassy Vell was working as a waitress in the tavern district, trying to make enough tip money to get into a bard academy and avoid her big sister's profession! She was living in her sister's flat above The Bloody Knot, but she wasn't working there, she's no whore. She was working shifts at The Brass Bar, The Angry Pony, and The Iron Pistol. She was also reported to be trying to get work at Julie Annie's and Annie Annie's as well. A little more upscale patrons, meaning better tips. As for Smythhammer, he's the man, the leader of Royal Brixtonian Army. He answers only to the Emperor. He can snap his fingers twice and make you a millionaire. He can snap'em once and make you dead! Where have you been on the farm shagging sheep?" He turns to Bunko, "Get the girl out first then make damn sure the original kidnappers never speak to anyone about it again." He focuses on Amaryllis. "Your cut is whatever I say it is. So get out there and earn it first!"

Amarillis listens to the information with her arms folded and rolls her eyes at the last part. "Fortunately the guild has a good reputation, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you'll make it worth our while." She then turns to look at the other new recruits. "Looks like we are an interesting group. My name is Amarillis Devigne." she says. "The guild doesn't take incompetents, so I assume we're all quite capable at something. Perhaps we should spend a few moments introducing ourselves so that we know how our unique talents can best be applied to this task?" she smiles warmly. "As for myself, I find that faith opens many doors and loosens many tongues. A divine miracle or two never hurt either." she continues, clutching her amulet of the goddess Vesta.
OOC: is there a preferred way to mark OOC remarks? @Nitney Cobra_Guppy and I talked and she's actually wearing the robes of the goddess Vesta and her actual god is Loki, those are the gods available in this world.
Tzidon smirks at Amarillis. "I find that a good set of lock picks opens a lot more doors than faith does. I can handle that part easy enough." He lifts a pick of his pocket. "And I'm quite skilled at getting in and out of wherever I need to unseen."
As the green masked man listed off the places Cassy worked, Raze quirked an eyebrow at the number of taverns she was employed at. She was impressed with how hard that girl worked to stay out of the sheets. Raze thanked Loki for her skill set, and that she didn't have to jump from place to place like Cassy. She wasn't necessarily a pious woman, but one would do best to avoid offending the trickster god. Speaking of gods....
"My name's Raze. I'm uhh, like that guy." She nods to Tzidon. "But I could probably fit into smaller places." She gestures to her 5'0 frame. Her second hand clothes would have smothered her feminine curves... if she had any.
OOC: @pjakobs Sorry, I figured it would change with the new pantheon, but I wasn't quite sure to what. I'll make a note of that.
Thinking over the masked figures words, Tzidon looks back to him. "You gave us a lot of information, some of which might turn out useful, but didn't quite answer my question. You told us where she worked and lived, but where was she last actually seen?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Wow... Busy girl! Surprised the kidnappers were able to find her in one place long enough to grab her."Monio chuckles.
"Name's Monio Otzoa, and well, I know a handful of tricks....nothing as comprehensive as a wizard would, you see." From his hip, beneath his robe, he produces something that looks like a meat fork and begins to wave it around. Saying a couple of words in draconic the end of his wand is suddenly illuminated with light.
Turning back to the masked man, "The gold will come in handy for sure, but could you see it anyway to front me a small diamond? I have recently been...dispossessed of my last one. It would greatly with help an ability of mine, and it would surely help accomplish this task you've given us."Persuasion18

The Green Mask slightly cocks his head at you. "If I wanted to find her myself I wouldn't be talking to you lot now would I!"

Bunko turns to the others....."Well, We can start by looking at the places she worked or lived. I wouldn't be surprised if it's somebody her whore sister new trying to make a pile of gold. Maybe the Bloody Knot is a good place to start. We can send someone to the modiste and some off to the Bloody Knot, then we meet up at the Brass Bar and see what we have found."
"Sounds good, I think splitting up these locations is a good first step for now. I can take the dress shop." says Amarillis, continuing with a grin "somehow I don't think a cleric would be welcome at a whore house"
Tzidon shakes his head at the masked man's parting comment. "Well, he's a strange one..." He looks to Amarillis, "I'll go with you to the dress shop. If that's the last place she was seen, seems like a decent place to start."
"Jeez! Can't help a guy out...,"Monio replies as his request was denied by the green-masked figure.
He then turns his attention to the others in the group and waits for the man to depart. "Seems to be a pleasant enough man...at least for this line of work." He sighs and scratches his round chin.
