As for ritual-casting, Hew would run out of bear-time.
(OOC: Indeed, Hew-Bear is uninjured with 34 HP. Even assuming that there is a magical trap, as long as it does less damage than that, it's better for everyone to stand back and just let Hew-Bear push open the door. 🙂
But since Hewelathan is in a wild shape, he cannot really participate in the discussion. He'll help fight if something attacks, or he'll open the door if one of the others asks him to do so. Until then, he's just standing in front of the door while the others discuss the next step.)
OOC: Nickeline's bonus to perception is only +2 and she did not prepare Detect Evil and Good.
I don't think that "Whatever is making that noise over there" would be a valid target for Scrying, either, which is the only thing Nickeline would look for in this moment.
(OOC: @Mister_Whisker - we heard "clicking and clattering sounds." As far was we can tell, those sounds are coming from somewhere around us, not from inside the door, right?)
(OOC: So, we don't notice whatever that other thing was. Does anyone else want to do anything out here, or do we want Hew-bear to try pushing open the door to the crypt?)
When he finds out their is no magical effect surrounding the door Tamphalic steps back and gives a little wave to Hew-bear, with a pushing gesture afterwards.

Hewelathan nods his massive Brown Bear head. Then he rears up on his hind legs to put his front paws on the door, and with a loud exhale, shoves on the door. If the door pushes open, he lands on all fours as the door moves away from him, bracing himself for whatever they see in the crypt.
In case the doors are heavy or stuck in some way, I'll go ahead and include a check: Athletics21
Even the incredible strength of the bear fails to break the door open... it feels like it has been barred from the inside.
Hewelathan-bear pushes, magically-enhanced muscles straining. He pushes so hard that his hind paws crack the stone tiles beneath his back feet. Finally, he gives up and drops back down to all-fours. He shakes his massive head and circles around in front of the door. He looks to the others in confusion: who bars a crypt from the inside? Maybe one of the others has an idea to get them inside the crypt before whatever is making the clicking and clattering noises finds them.
As you stand around the door, something wicked approaches silently, its presence like a shadow in the night...
Suddenly, a horrific figure descends from the ceiling with a horrific screech! It lands right in the middle of the party, sword gleaming in the dim light of the underdark...
It's a drider... well... it was a drider. The creature is clearly no longer living. It is yet to be seen whether the creature is more or less dangerous than its living counterparts.
Anyway, you are all surprised, so it's going to make its three attacks with advantage.
As the abomination's longsword slashes towards Perdita, Hildegard twists her around to take the blow on her shield instead. (Using Mounted Combatant feat to force the drider's attack to target Hildegard -AC 19- instead of Perdita -AC 13).
Tamphalic sees the dead drider jumping in their middle and wonders how he got so close without making any sounds.

Tamphalic is luckily quick to react after the first blows and makes a wave of his wand to the floor underneath the dead drider.
Casting Maximillian's earthn grasp DC14 STR save or 4 bludgeoning damage and is restrained for the spell’s duration.
((To break out, the restrained target can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC. On a success, the target escapes and is no longer restrained by the hand.))

While we wait for Jodie's initiative, note that Korba as the Alert feat, so he wouldn't have been surprised and should have been able to act normally on the drider-mummy's first round. I guess having him use Eldritch Blast is a safe bet for now unless you want to send him into melee with his Moonblade.)

Tamphalic doesn't detect any active spells. It seems likely that the dead are going to be your main obstacle in this quest.
Well, the dead and possibly one other thing...

Um... does anyone happen to have +6 or better on Perception who wants to try to roll against that?

That being said, the door is made of metal, and you may remember that Lord Akkron gave you a pouch containing dust of corrosion...
