Dathyra Galanodel: You've just rounded a corner and The Tapped Keg is in sight. You've been lead, at least in part, by your curiosity to find out what the job posting is about. The last sentence especially stood out to you, as you have had an open mind and a just heart for as long as you can remember. Outside the tavern, a human man is leaning up against an old hitching rail that looks as if it hasn't been used in years. The man is packing a pipe with some kind of herb, oblivious to the world around him. From this vantage, the construction dwarfs the tavern. It's twice the height of the tavern and at least half again as deep. Someone is sinking a lot of coin into building this place up.
Holg: The sun is nearing its midpoint for the day, which means you should be meeting with this Landon character about their job listing soon. Being a former Amnian soldier, you know that being on time means being early. You've been eyeing the clientele inside The Tapped Keg for some time now, watching for clues since you have no idea what Landon looks like. It wasn't all for naught though. A trio of human men have been keeping you entertained with their off key and out of sync songs. They came in earlier for a lunch break from constructing a side room. Aside from the three at the bar, there is a pair of elves of elves sitting at a table in the middle of the tavern and a half dozen other humans scattered about the place in groups of twos.
Jodon Nimblefinger: Today is a good day. You don't know why or how yet, but you can feel a certain tingle about you. Even the streets have been good to you today. Making your way through the city, you were forced to backtrack a bit and hop a fence to get around a broken carriage wheel catastrophe that was blocking the street. Landing on the other side of the fence, you spotted two shining gold coins.
Add those to your character
With a smile on your face, you sight the Tapped Keg and you can't help but wonder what sort of mysteries lay in wait for you.
Kylar Thorne: You've been wandering for a bit now. A little lost in your thoughts of what to do next. An odd job here or there has kept you fed and relatively comfortable, but you know that your path lies on a different course. You feel the wanderlust of the road tugging at your heartstrings, but nothing in Faerun is free. Securing a bit more coin would go a long way, especially if you signed up as a guard on a travelling caravan - Pushing your thoughts aside, you exit your inn room at the Blushing Lamb and head towards The Tapped Keg. It's about a ten minute walk, which leaves you more than enough time to get re-lost in your thoughts.
Sly Lokeira: You're in your inn room in the back of the Tapped Keg, which you won through no small amount of charm and a poker faced card game. You know you need some more coin soon and you know there is a board with many job listings just down the hall in the tavern proper, but you haven't checked it yet. Most of those jobs are menial and the pay is usually not so great. You also know that your room is paid for the next three days, and that thought comes with a grin.

Sly stretched his arms out and let out a sigh as he stood from his bed and pulled his cloak over his horns and face just out of habit not many people care to see the jade colored Tiefling and he didn't want to draw attention to himself. The rouge making sure that he has all that he needs just in case finds a job quick he than walked down the stairs from his room to the tavern wanting to see what job's were but still very happy about having a bed to sleep in that night and the next three days was better than he's had in a long while. Sly looked around and moved his hood more into his face as he walked over to the bar he wanted to get a drink before checking the job post and just getting a better look at the people who were drinking around him. Sly waited til the bartender got to him and sat down at the bar. "Hello I'd like your cheapest ale." He said his voice was soft with a bit of an accent as he moved to get some coin out that he had left.
As he walked down the street to the Tapped Keg Kylar seemed to lose himself to his mind once again, causing him to trip and almost bump into a few kids. "Excuse me." he said in a low and gruff voice as he passed by the children, his mind had already rolled back into thinking about potential jobs at this point. Kylar knows he needed money to continue adventuring but for a while now he has felt like he had hit a brick wall. None of the past few jobs had pushed him like they use to, he knows he needed to do something different, something new in order to keep getting stronger and attain his goal. Just as he started to have some ideas towards the subject he realized he had walked past the entrance to the Tapped Keg. He quickly turned around and headed in, for the moment he decided to forgo any drink and headed straight to the job posting board. Kylar quickly scanned around the board and saw normal mediocre jobs all around, just as he as he was about to give in and take a simple guard job for some quick coins he saw a small mysterious note to the side. As he read the short and vague posting he felt his heart quicken a beat at the thought that this might be the job he needed to to get out of his long rut and improve his skills. After a moment of excitement, Kylar took note of the aforementioned time that had been posted and took a seat nearby observing of some of the other people around the bar.
Dathyra was still running through this idea in her mind. She had just finished her work Neverwinter, helping to establish a new home for stray children on behalf of her temple. Really, she had finished a few days ago, and so now all she had been doing was talking and playing with the little ones. She had a soft spot for children, especially those without a home, as she had been in that position herself many years ago. And technically, she wasn't expected at her next destination on her mission trip for at least another fortnight. Truth be told, she wasn't looking forward to that one: inspecting a new hospital her temple had helped build a year ago. Hospitals were never fun. They were filled with stern, unsmiling people who were not as nice as the volunteers at these homes for stray children. Just thinking about some of the frightening surgical tools some of those doctors used sent a shiver up her spine. So, after having rationalized it over the past few days, Dathyra knew there was no harm in taking up this offer she had seen by chance after finishing a meal at the Tapped Keg the other night. Besides, it sounded like she'd be doing a great amount of good, and Father Uridan did say that was what she was supposed to be doing on this charity mission.
Some part of her told her to still be cautious. This was still the first time she had been so far away from her temple on her own. Her fellow members of her order had warned her to be wary of danger. She fingered the amulet around her neck. May Lathander protect her, she thought. She took a deep breath and approached the man by the hitching post. "I am here to meet someone named Landon, are you he?"

Holg sat alone at a table, tapping his foot to the proper beat that the three construction workers failed to find as they sang a song and drank their ale. “Rather some off-key singing, than the horrible sound of silence” thought Holg to himself. After seeing his fellow soldier and countryman, Scrag, embark on a job escorting some dwarf’s supplies to the small miner’s town of Phandalin, Holg decided to remain in Neverwinter and seek out other adventures. Knowing that midday was soon approaching, he felt that Landon would be returning soon with information about the promising job offer he posted last tenday.
Holg noticed a cloaked Tiefling enter from the back rooms of the tavern and sit at the bar. He felt a weird connection to anyone who felt out of place compared to the humans and elves that filled the tavern. One could feel the tension in the room rise for a moment, then quickly settle back down. As is such the case when a 6’4” half-orc stands up from a table and begins walking across a tavern. “This round is on me!” Holg stated as he sat down at the empty bar stool next to the cloaked individual. “You know, for someone who is not trying to stand out, you do very well at blending in.” he said sarcastically. “Are you Mr. Landon per chance?”
Jodon rubs his shiny new coins together, and hesitates before heading into the Tapped Keg. When the World gives to a person, a person must give back to the World. How else do free folk thrive, especially on a day as favorable as today? He thinks back to the broken wheel in the street, and remembers it is not so favorable to everybody. Jodon frowns, knowing that repairs on such a large scale is still beyond his capabilities. Still, one does what one can. He wanders the square, looking for cracked tools, pierced waterskins, even broken toys, mending everything he can find, and always with a hopeful smile. "No job too small, young Master", Jodon chuckles at a young human child half a head taller than himself. Finally satisfied with what he has brought to the World, he skips off to the Tapped Keg. He rubs his hands expectantly at the people providing service in the tavern, and those in need of help.
Dathyra Galanodel: As you approach the man, he finishes packing his pipe, puts it to his lips, and snaps his fingers, creating a flame in his pipe bowl. He takes several long draws to light it properly while you address him, eyeing you the while. “Apologies. You have to nurse it a bit when you light it, or it’s wasted. To answer your question though - no. Well, yes, but also no. It’ll take some time to explain.” You notice the symbol of Torm on an amulet under his coat and that he is looking past you down the street. He continues in his deep and soothing voice, “Not here though. Let’s get off the street for the sake of privacy.” With a wink and a grin he takes another draw on his pipe and heads inside.
Holg andSly Lokeira: The bartender, broad and tall, takes up a mug and pours it full. “It’s a light ale. Not the best tasting, but it’ll wet your throat. Four copper.” The man eyes Holg as he offers to pay and continues, “Three copper. I’m supposed to tell anyone looking for Landon to wait at the long table just there.” He points at the large table at the far end of the room.
Jodon Nimblefinger: Helping out where you can, you receive several thank you’s and grateful nods. Arriving at the Tapped Keg, a pair of humanoids enter in front of you, closing the door behind them. It wasn’t that they were rude - You’ve just gone unnoticed again. A curse and a blessing depending on your situation.
Kylar Thorne: As you take your seat and really survey the room, you immediately notice the hulking half-orc at the bar. Near him also talking to the bartender is a hooded figure. The other humans and pair of elves all appear to be doing their own things. Most of them are sweaty; you surmise they are mostly construction workers on a break. Just then a human, clad in a long, brown coat with a small, stiff collar enters the tavern, followed by an elf. He stops for a brief moment to survey the room, heads over to the largest table and takes his place at the center, his back to the wall.
Jodon sighs. Big People may not mean it, but even on a day like today it still gets a little tiresome to be bumped and stepped on. In this situation, he recalls one of the few pieces of good advice his scoundrel father gave him -- when Big People treat you like you are not there, go right up to the biggest person -- the rest will either notice you, or notice him and leave you alone. Either way, you're better off.
"Or her, you old rogue" Smiling again, Jodon pulls out his new lucky coin and scans the room. Almost immediately, he spots an impressively large half-orc, conversing with what appears to be a Tiefling. He walks straight up to the two of them, twirls his other coin between his fingers, and offers "Can I buy you two gentlebeings a better class of drink?"
Sly tensed up at the half orc sitting next to him but relaxed a little when he said he was paying but not to much he tried to ignore the statement that made about the rouge. "No I am not." Sly's accent was kind of posh and some what unexpected to most he looked at the Bartender he didn't know who Mr. Landon was but it sounded interesting and looked over at the table then at the new voice. Sly tried to relax himself so far no one was trying to attack him and two individuals offered to buy him a drink he was not use to this kind of treatment. "Very generous of both of both of you but I only need the one drink like the prettiest girl in the room. "
Sly said in a joking manner putting on his most charming voice as he turned and looked at the new voice halflings never tend to make him nervous so he didn't tense up and turned back to the bartender then at the half orc. He couldn't tell why either of them would buy him a drink another motive possibly most likely the Half orc assumed he was this Mr. Landon but the halfling just got there so no real motive so far.
Holg, staring at the bartender as he hears a quiet, soft-spoken voice, turns around and sees nothing but the tavern before him. Puzzled, he begins to slowly look down until his is met eye-to-eye with a halfling. Holg continues to eye the halfling, somewhat menacingly, as if he is hoping to scare off the little thing by sheer intimidation. However, remembering his current purpose for being at the tavern, Holg comes to his senses and acknowledges hospitality "You hear that bartender!?", he yells over his shoulder, "This fine young lad here knows a thing or two about good hospitality." Holg lifts the halfling up by the shoulders and places him on the empty barstool next to him. "Thank you kind sir! Name is Holg, former standard bearer for the 2-32 of Amn." Confused by the halfling's prompt yet generous offer for the round, he asks "What brings you into a tavern and offers a guy such as I a round of ale?"
Jodon settled into his new seat. "I am only here to meet somebody. But you, my friend, look like you can carry both me and a tune at the same time. That makes you interesting." He continues to make the coin dance around his fingers. "Interesting enough to share my good luck with on this day. Innkeeper! This noble standard bearer deserves a better standard of drink. Fetch him your best!" Jodon winks at Sly. "One for the prettiest girl in the bar, as well!"
"I ask only for your stories, your company, to pass the time while I await this Landon."
Sly looked at the halfling and sighs a bit. "That was a joke.. I promise you I'm a male.." He moved his hood a bit showing his face a bit better he wasn't irritated because he was the one who said that line and didn't aspect for it to end like this but it was his fault. "I'm afraid I don't have much of a story but I have been told I'm rather good company and also waiting for Landon as well." His golden eyes didn't move off the halfling for a bit trying to still understand him and his motives then the half-orc he was far more interested in these individuals than he should worry himself to be and that could be a dangerous thing also meeting some man named Landon could also cause a bit of problem since he didn't know much about the meeting but was also intrigued.
Dathyra coughed as a few pungent whiffs of the man's smoke got a little too close for comfort. She never quite understood the pleasure found in such a vice. Her head tilted at his confusing answer. Humans were so winding with their speech, never quite saying what they meant. She had gotten used to it, but it still frustrated her sometimes. She decided to follow him inside. Thus far, she didn't have a reason not to believe him. She had noticed the symbol of Torm on his amulet. That meant he was sort of an ally to her own order. She had to hope that was a good sign.
Upon entering the tavern, she was not so sure about his answer. Didn't it stand to reason that with more people in a confined area like the tavern that more people would hear a private conversation as opposed to the nearly empty and open-air streets? Whatever, she would humor him. She only briefly noticed the handful of others in the tavern, but it was the large half-orc and the imposing hooded figure beside him that caught the most of her attention. Her elven ears wilted in uncertainty. They looked like the kind of people one wouldn't want to cross.
The man sat at the large table in the back, and she took that as her cue to sit across from him. "Very well, we are here. I believe I'm owed an explanation now." She crossed her arms, waiting. She was never one for subtlty or beating around the bush.
Holg replied to the halfling, "Ah ha! Well it is indeed my lucky day as well! Common taste for good ale AND adventure." Turning to the tiefling now showing his face. "I take it you both saw the job posting then? Bartender here was just telling me that this Landon fellow usually sits at the large table [noticing a human and elf already sitting at the large table] ov.... err... ohh!?"Surprised to see people already gathered at the table, Holg leans into the bartender and asks "Sir, are either of those gentlemen over there Mr. Landon? And might I ask... what is his role here at the Tapped Keg that you know him to sit at that table so frequently?"
Kylar watches for the next few moments after some more people enter the Trapped Keg right before the time this Landon character was supposed to be here. After looking around he only saw 2 groups of people that don't seem to be apart of the normal crowd. There is a group of 3 at the bar but they seem more interested in getting a drink to be this mysterious Landon. Kylar turns his attention to they two that had just entered and taken a table in the back an elf and a human. After they sit down the elf crossed her arms, this made Kylar think of her as an impatient child. Kylar decides that this man with the pipe must be the mysterious Landon. He stood up and walks towards the back of the bar making sure to pull up his hood while walking. As he comes up to their table he takes a seat to the side of the table giving a good bit of space between them. He saw that the elf wore an amulet around her neck, he rolled his eyes at the thought of taking a quest from some religious order. "Hello, I believe that you are the one I am looking for." Kylar said as he turned to look at the man with the pipe.
The bartender gives Jondon a wide, toothy grin and says, "That'll be my dwarven stout! My personal favorite and it's imported straight from Mirabar. It's two silver pieces per mug for that." His eyes turn to Holg and as he pours he continues, "Aye, the tall one with the pipe is the one you seek. I don't know him well, but he posted that sign on the job board and paid me an awful lot of coin to direct anyone his way that came asking. Almost makes me want to pick up a sword again - almost." A little wistful, he moves down the bar to answer a call for refills for the singing trio.
Watching the crowd gather, 'Landon' motions for everyone to have a seat. He smiles a warm, inviting smile and begins, "This is a better turnout than I expected. Let me start by saying that I am not a vagabond and I am not hiring anyone to do any sort of mischief. If that's what you're here for-" He cuts himself off with a wave of his hand. "Sorry, there has been more than a little trouble as of late. My name is Kelbin Martinoc and I have had to find a great deal of resolve to ask for help from outsiders. It's not that I have any sort of expectations about what you all should or should not be; this is just a sensitive matter.
There was a charitable ball two tendays ago exactly that I attended - mind you this event was by invitation only and was exclusively upper class. The evening came to a screeching halt when Kristoff Hierg arrived. He's a spoiled braggart and a fiend. He came without an invitation and a sword strapped to his waist. Mind you, he never drew the sword, but by bringing it, he was showing clear disrespect. After a prance around the place, Kristoff hopped up on a dinner table, kicking a platter over to gather attention. When he had it he claimed that everyone at the party were 'tools to further the cause.' He tossed out more vile insults and then was confronted by a friend of mine, Arlen Daninlith. Arlen told Kristoff that he wasn't welcome and that he had summoned the city guard. Simmering with rage, Kristoff left, shoving Arlen on the way out. I was nearby so I heard him say that Arlen would pay for this when he pushed him. A day later, Arlen disappeared and a day after that, so did Kristoff." He pauses to carefully scan the room again.
Sly holding his drink to his lips and took a long sip it was better than what he has had in a long time he lean in his chair and looked at the human. "So you want to find your friend or this Kristoff guy." He asked as he put his drink down and looked at the Elf and half-elf he didn't know if this kind of job would need all of these people and didn't sound to interesting but would be something to do.
Holg leans back in his chair and folds his arms, somewhat annoyed at the fact that this 'Landon' was no more than an alias for some noble, with his 'hide-and-go-seek' situation with his other socialites. Nevertheless, he remembers that he should keep an open mind here. And recognizing that there may be four other just-as-puzzled folk at this table (including the generous halfling), he sits patiently, sipping his delicious dwarven stout, listening as the others converse with this 'Landon'.

Bartender here was just telling me that this Landon fellow usually sits at the large table [noticing a human and elf already sitting at the large table] ov.... err... ohh!?" Surprised to see people already gathered at the table, Holg leans into the bartender and asks "Sir, are either of those gentlemen over there Mr.

Does anyone stop him or interrupt?
I will
Sly holding his drink to his lips and took a long sip it was better than what he has had in a long time he lean in his chair and looked at the human.
