Wraven goes off to find the carpenter and reunites the children with their father, while Mayor Ormond and Sir Grover take up spots next to Xanrym during his speech. As Xanrym steps down from the makeshift podium, people looks stunned, misbelieving. Then Mayor Ormond gets up and yells with his hands in the air, "The Company of the Grey Chain! Three cheers for the Company of the Grey Chain!" The people of Orlane start to join in, and after a minute or so everyone in the town are chanting your name. People finally start to dismantle the community they built in the centre of town and go back to their homes, thanking you all the while. Although Orlane will not rebuild itself immediately, this is the beginning of a new era in Orlane, free of the naga's curse.
You've seen all of the NPCs you'd expected to, and if anyone has any questions about any specific NPCs you can absolutely go and visit them. However, you notice one that you weren't expecting: Whiskers is sitting on a tree stump near the entrance to Ramne's grove. When you go to talk to the squirrel, it makes a small chirping sound, turns around, and retreats back to the old man's house.

Xanrym enjoys the praise, but he feels a bit drained by the time the crowd disperses. He's looking forward to a hot bath and a good night's sleep in a real bed.
Do you follow the squirrel and visit Ramne?
(OOC: Is that also on the night we arrived back in Orlane? Or in the following days?)
Xanrym definitely votes for visiting Ramne as soon as they can. He wanted to thank Ramne for his help and expected that they would have to report the news of Whiskers's death, but it seems that Whiskers was more magical than they realized.
There are a few things Xanrym would like to ask Ramne:
"Did the cult give you any trouble while we were gone? Did they come looking for Cirilli or Maajid?" This question is partly just idle curiosity, but Xanrym is also trying to determine whether they were right that Cirillia and Maajid would be in danger after they left Orlane and whether they owe him a debt for keeping their charges safe.
Does Ramne suspect anyone of being a willing (i.e., not naga-charmed) member of the cult? For example, did anyone carry out cult business after the enchantment was lifted? Or did anyone leave Orlane soon after it became clear that the enchantment was lifted?
"Before we defeated the naga, she mentioned that she was consort of the 'Undying King.' Have you ever heard that title before? Do you know to whom it refers?"
Finally, Xanrym tells Ramne of the sad death of Toska. "You are clearly learned in magic, Ramne, and seem to have lived here for some time. Do you know where we might find someone who could resurrect Toska after five days have already passed?"
Xanyrm isn't sure whether they should tell Ramne about freeing the slaad, Zgotar, and he asks Theldrin and the others what they think. He's worried that that deed could come back to bite them (maybe literally!) later.
You've seen all of the NPCs you'd expected to, and if anyone has any questions about any specific NPCs you can absolutely go and visit them.
Xanrym will want to speak with Wraven Stoutheart again after they've been in Orlane for a day or two. He wants to know whether Wraven has had any word from Yr. If not, Xanrym's going to have competing priorities: he still wants to find a cleric to resurrect Toska, but he'll want to find out what happened to Yrag.
There are also various purchases that he would like to make once the party finishes dividing up the treasure.
Xanrym will take Heckle to Kilian and his son Micah. He praises the horse and tells them that Heckle was fearless in traveling through the Dim Forest and sure-footed in crossing the Rushmoors. He's not returning the horse, but Xanrym asks Kilian to board the horse for a few days. Xanrym mentions that Heckle is a brave and sturdy horse who has weathered not only the road but also a giant snapping turtle, the undead, and even a dragon wyrmling! He jokes: "Heckle is quite the adventurer now, and he may want to share his encounters with his former stable-mates!"
Theldrin agrees the party should visit Ramne as soon as they have a chance. He is pleasantly surprised to catch a glimpse of Whiskers, as he had very much not been looking forward to telling Ramne the news of the magical squirrel's death.
As far as the matter of the slaad, he frowns deeply for a moment as he considers, then says tentatively, "Perhaps we should mention to him something about this... say, that as part of our excursion into the naga's dungeon, we ended up making a bargain with a slaad which resulted in it escaping and we're not sure where it went?"
This is still the night you've arrived in Orlane. I'm talking in somewhat broad language because, we're coming close to the end of the adventure and I want to give some closure.
You all head to Ramne's hut in the grove. You find the old man packing a bunch of the things into his hut, which seems pretty close to full now, no chance of fitting a bed or even people. He turns and gives you all a frown when you arrive, "So you had my familiar use the bell I put on him did you? I thought a Globe of Invulnerability might come in useful against a naga. Whiskers has told me everything else that happened in the dungeon, and I assume you've defeated the beast, so well done." He nods his head and continues packing up his house. He's surprised when you have more questions for him.
1. The owner of the general store did come for Cirilli and Majiid a few nights ago, but Ramne made short work of them and sent them on their way. You owe him no debt seeing as how you took care of the naga problem, he just fulfilled his role in the mission.
2. Ramne doesn't suspect anyone else as being a willing participant in the naga's schemes. You killed the few people who actually allied with the naga, everyone else is returning to their regular lives.
3. The news of 'The Undying King' clearly makes Ramne startle in surprise, "I've heard that name before, but I can't remember where." He asks you a question "Did the naga immediately start to decompose after you killed it?"
4. As for places to resurrect Toska, he isn't a expert on deities, but knows that there is a massive church to St Cuthbert in the Free City of Greyhawk. That may be the only place you could get someone who cares enough to resurrect Toska. Of course, you'd need to get her there within the next couple of days otherwise she will have gone past the capabilities of the spell Raise Dead. Ramne may be able to help you but he would ask a price.
5. As for the Slaad, Ramne doesn't seem very worried. If it turns out to be an issue later it may be something you'll have to deal with then.
I'll let you peruse all that and figure out what you want to do.
Avery looks to the group, "We have what we looted, I am willing to give towards getting Toska resurrected, what do you say? As for the Naga disintegrating, it did. Thats how we came upon the gem controlling the Slaad. "

Good to know! That should help Orlane get back to normal more quickly.

Avery already answered this question.

Xanrym is excited. "Oh? That would be fantastic! I worried that there wouldn't be a cleric nearby with the power to restore her to life. Toska died just 4 days ago, and if you could help us get to the Free City quickly, there may still be time to have her holy order bring her back before her soul moves on to St. Cuthbert's the Bastion of Law. If we cannot do that soon, I fear that we may have to search far and wide for more powerful divine magic that could bring her back so long after her death."
Xanrym is certainly willing to negotiate with Ramne about the price for helping them get to the City of Greyhawk more quickly. The party now has plenty of treasure and even some magic items that they could use in the bargain.
If Ramne can wait, Xanrym would prefer to get a good night's sleep and restock supplies in Orlane before they leave. Then again, if Ramne is only willing to do it now, Xanrym figures that they could fetch Heckle and take their treasure with them to the Free City. The could secure lodgings there and purchase whatever they need in the city's markets.
(OOC: In case you wanted to resolve the negotiation quickly, I rolled Persuasion in the game log: 12 -> 16 because of Silver Tongue.)
Ramne will sigh when you mention the naga disintegrating, "That is not the best news, i'll need to travel to the Wild Coast and fetch my master to clean all this up it seems. I suppose I could take you to Greyhawk first, but it will cost you. Show me all of the magic items you've attained and I will take my pick. Don't worry, I will be fair and only take items that I truly need."
While Ramne is talking you notice some strange things. His hair is becoming less grey, he's starting to visibly shrink, and his ears are changing shape. Not only is he changing physically, but his attitude is adjusting too. He's becoming far less cantankerous with every word, and he seems to be becoming more thoughtful, considered even.
Will you show him all the magic items you've found?

Xanrym agrees with Avery: "Yes! We led Toska into the den of that unholy monster, and her courage never failed. Toska's healing saved our lives -- more than once! Now it's our turn to repay the favor. It's a dear price, but for a dear friend, it's a price we must pay."
Xanrym says, "Here are all of the magic items we acquired since we left Maajid and Cirilli with you," and he points out each item of (for the potions and scrolls) takes them out of his pack:

Noticing the change, Xanrym asks, "Who are you -- really -- Master Ramne? Somehow, I don't think that you're just an old wizard who happened to retire here in Orlane."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ramne comes clean, "Very good, of course you can start to tell now that my spell is wearing off. No, I am not the old man in the grove, not really. My true name is Bigby, i am a member of the Citadel of Eight, and my master is Mordenkainen, our leader. I'm sorry for the ruse, but I was simply passing through a few months ago and noticed some strange happenings around the village. I thought i'd stay to investigate, and i'm glad I did. I must say, you've done very well here, but unfortunately the Citadel will have to come and mop up the rest. You see, the naga you killed was no ordinary Guardian Naga, but a Spirit Naga, I kind of undead being that replicates the looks and abilities of a regular naga. These creatures eventually regenerate and return to life, a giant nuisance indeed! This is why I must head into the Wild Coast and find my master, who has the ability to stop the naga's regeneration permanently." He looks then at the magic items before him, "But like I said, for the right price I could be convinved to make a detour to Greyhawk along the way." His eyes immediately focus on the Ring of Free Action and point it out. I'll roll a d10 here to see what else he likes: 9
"The Ring of Free Action and the Boots of Elven Kind. That is my price for transporting you to Greyhawk." The transformation is complete, and now before you stands a dark skinned Gnome, his expression far more serious than Ranme's ever was.
Theldrin's jaw drops as he sees Bigby's transformation and hears "Citadel of Eight." "Truly it is an honor," he says respectfully, with a deep bow. He seems fine with the trade in exchange for Bigby's help.
"The Ring of Free Action and the Boots of Elven Kind. That is my price for transporting you to Greyhawk." The transformation is complete, and now before you stands a dark skinned Gnome, his expression far more serious than Ranme's ever was.
Is that a deal?
Xanrym cannot hide his amazement as Bigby reveals his true identity, but he's gutted by Bigby's choice. He takes a deep breath and says, "Bigby! Bigby the Great? It's an honor to meet you in person!" He bows and then looks around the grove. There doesn't seem to be anyone other than Bigby and his comanpions, and after everything that they've been through together, he feels like he can trust the other party members. "I also serve Mordenkainen ....er... indirectly. That is, I was recently called to serve the Citadel of the Eight. I'm something of a historian and story-teller. After helping with some research and a couple of minor missions, the Citadel of Eight asked me to travel with Yrag the Lord to document his exploits. My name is Xanrym. Xanrym Balhorn."
Xanrym pauses a moment. He doesn't expect Bigby to recognize his name: Xanrym's affiliation with the Citadel of the Eight is recent, and he assumes that Mordenkainen has scores of minor agents helping the organization. But he hoped that maybe Bigby would say something about having seen Yrag recently.
If not, Xanrym continues: "You say that you've been in Orlane for a few months? Have you been in contact with Yrag since you arrived? Or have you had any messages from him?" Assuming that he hasn't, Xanrym explains, "We were traveling together, Yr and I. We were actually on our way to Orlane when we were separated. I don't think that Yr knew you were here: he just wanted to visit an old friend. (The mayor's bodyguard, Wraven Stoutheart, is one of Yr's old adventuring companions.) But we were beset by demons one night in the wilderness. They attacked our camp, and Yr told me to flee. We split up, and he lead the demons away. In the morning, I waited near our camp for his return, but I haven't seen him since. Orlane was our next destination, so I decided to continue the journey here alone, hoping to reunite with Yr here. I thought that I could make contact with Wraven and stay here for a while, waiting for Yr or at least some message from him. But I first arrived in Orlane two weeks ago, and the demons' attack was several days before that. If Yrag has not arrived in Orlane and has sent no message, I fear the worst."
Xanrym looks to Bigby for advice, "I support the goals of the Citadel of the Eight. I would like to help explore the ruins of fallen civilizations and recover their lost treasures and knowledge. My assignment was to travel with Yr, but no one told me what I should do if I became separated from him or if...if something happened to him. Once my companions finish this business with Toska, what would you suggest I do?"
(Xanrym hasn't made any mention of the deal, and he hasn't started to remove his boots yet.)
Wraven goes off to find the carpenter and reunites the children with their father, while Mayor Ormond and Sir Grover take up spots next to Xanrym during his speech.
