I am launching a new campaign, pbp only, no Roll20 or Discord. I've got a pretty interesting idea, and I'm not sure how it will translate. Go ahead and fill out the form below, for a level 1 character, and I will let you know if you make the cut. Warning; I am only taking 4 players currently. Posting will be once per-day (approximately) and this is set in a homebrew world.

Backstory: Chester grew up on the streets, and learned at an early age how to steal. Eventually he was caught as a 14 year old, and sent to a prison mine for a ridiculously long sentence because the wealthy needed more miners. Met an old man in the mine who taught him how to fight without weapons to protect himself. He escaped, but the old man died in the attempt. Chester now breaks innocents out of the mines in honor of the old man, and is labeled a criminal because of how much he's messing with the wealthy's money.

Backstory: Turk was born to half-orc parents who were on the run from his father's father, who was a chieftain. Although Turk wasn't the smartest in terms of bookwork, he knows how to swing a sword and has a good heart. He has an imaginary friend named Boris, who he claims he is from the moon.

They mistook it for a wyvern's egg and decided to keep it and try to tame the newborn animal. Cork hatched in a small hut deep in an old forest. Small humanoid with brass skin was a big surprise for his "new" childless parents. Cork is now 23 years old. His parents taught him the basics of their druid art, provided basic equipment and send to find his own place in the world.

My detailed autobiography is one paragraph precisely: Let's see, was begat by a demon to a whore who died in childbirth. Was raised in a brothel. By whores. Hung out with lousy (but oh so fun) crowd. Was beaten in the streets a couple of times (damn you, horns). Got laid more than a couple of times (thanks, horns). Wanted to become a Wizard, got rejected. Made a pact with an eldricht being (oops!) which was painful, but worth it. Now I'm just trying to figure out what to do with all that.

Strikingly different in appearance from ANY other humanoids she's ever met, she has struggled to find a place for herself in the world, leading to her leaving Halruaa on a pilgrimage of self-discovery. In her distant travels, she has found some measure of purpose in following the faith of Gond, the Wonderbringer, and has made it her goal to become the best smith and artificer she can possibly be. (Note, place names and even the name of her deity can be changed to suit the homebrew setting.)

Brief Backstory: A quiet young elf discovered by the captain of the guard of the wood elves, living as an orphan in a human city, he has been trained to become one of the guards since the captain took him under his wing. Despite the captain’s best efforts he didn’t seem to really fit among his companions. Near the end of their training, one of the patrols were missing, the tracks suggested that they were ambushed by a party of orcs, perhaps an ogre. He went alone, in the night, and during a snow storm, and he came back with the members of the scouting party that were still alive. They are family was all that he said. Now the next step of his training has begun.

He is relatively young for an Elf, only 112 years old, so just coming of age among his people, who are a tribe of Nomadic Elves that travel the Dunes of the Desert constantly. The Elder in his Druidic Circle received visions that something powerful was awakening beneath the Sands, in the ruins of a civilization long since forgotten. He sent Azzad out into the larger world for the first time, to seek out companions strong enough to combat this threat when it one day emerges, and to grow stronger himself along the way.

Backstory: Striking to look at, but haunted on closer inspection. When looking into Zannon's eyes you know that there is a scar that runs deep through the middle of his life. Upon his 13th birthday Zannon's parents explained his peculiar background of having a planar ancestor, which has caused the differences in skin, height, weight, and eyes. Zannon's young mind being unable to cope with his inevitable ostracism flew into a berserker rage losing all sense of self and killed both of his parents with his bare hands. He later awoke covered in their blood and has lived haunted by his ancestry, berserker abilities, and his slaying of his parents.

He was found as little more than a hatchling by a traveling monk seeking his own form of enlightenment in the solitude of the swamps that were Rhask's people's home. Alone, he would have died, but the kind monk took the little lizardling in and raised him. He raised Rhask as his own, though they were very different. He tried to impart upon Rhask the meaning of self-reflection and meditation, of finding the stillness of one's heart and mind deep inside and peace in doing good. Rhask, possessing a lizardfolk's mind, found it difficult to fully comprehend what it was that his adoptive parent meant. He wanted to know, wanted to understand the alien concepts that the old monk was presenting to him, but he found himself coming short and lacking in understanding. He determined after some thought, that the reason he didn't understand was because he didn't know enough of the world in general. The monk who had found him had traveled the world before secluding himself in the swamp, after all. Didn't it follow that he should do the same? That was the conclusion that Rhask came to as, a little after turning 17, he set out from the swamp and hermitage he'd grown up in, determined to discover the meaning of his adoptive parent's words and understanding the true meaning of enlightenment and inner peace...whatever those were...

Calith is the fifth son of a travelling merchant. The child of a human father who met an elven woman in his travels. Upon his return to the same land later on he was presented with his half-elf son, Calith. His father took him at a young age as he was rejected by his mother's people. His older brothers, all fully human, treated him poorly, and while his father treated him well Calith recognized that his racial make-up would not lead to a great inheritance. He also knew that he did not possess either the intelligence or charisma needed to engage in his father's business of trade. He spent his time among the caravan guards of his father's merchant business. He grew in stature as well as earning a well deserved reputation for his prowess in combat. Work with his father's caravan guards allowed him to travel and gain experience in other languages other than his own. Proficient in Common, Elvish, Dwarvish and the trade language of Undercommon he could communicate with those he came into contact with while working the trade routes. He prefers to spend his time playing dice with soldiers and other guards. While he is comfortable in rough taverns he also knows how to behave in respectable inns. Unfortunately for Calith, his gambling issues have caused problems for him. His father has removed him from his position in the caravan guards. With his pack, weapons and some coins Calith is now on a new path...

As practical a person he became, ultimately the questions of the past would win out someday, eventually luring him away from the comfort and "simplicity" of a cleric, to that of an adventurer.
