BIX will be able to see more of the fungal lighted growths in the southeastern portion of the cavern. She will make out another wall on the east side of the overall enclosure.
@ Deconblu - You shouldn't be napping at work anyway. ;)
GLYNT will reach a point where he will see more of the inner structure. He sees within the walls a clearing among the briars. Again, the walls are about twenty feet high, which is less than half the height of the cavern’s ceiling. Several varieties of plants grow around the perimeter of the clearing, including a few suspicious-looking saplings, but their importance pales before that which stands at the courtyard’s center. Beneath the fungal light grows an evil tree. Its blackened, twisted limbs reach upward, like a skeletal hand clawing its way out of the earth. Before it stand a few twig blights; a heavily armored, young human male with a shield and sword; a blonde, young human woman in a robe fit for a noble; and a middle-aged, bearded human male wearing a hooded brown robe and armed with a staff and sickle. The younger humans have black eyes and gray skin with the texture of bark.
The middle-aged human male in a hooded brown robe notices GLYNT and says loudly, “Hold a moment, you know not what you do!”
(Map updated! Also, if you can see the map but unable to move tokens, then just request to move token a number of squares north, south, east or west, for instance, 5 squares south and 3 squares west. etc..)
Bix moves up to the wall and carefully peeks around the wall to see the three people there. She wonders if the young male and female are the kids she had been told about. Map Updated
Ragdor seeing Xanth try to ease his way up and not being very stealthy himself makes his way toward Glynt, when he gets close he calls out, what did you find master Glynt? in hopes of drawing attention away from Xanth, Erky and Bix.
The bearded man responds to GLYNT, “You are trying to stop me. Let me introduce myself. I am Belak, called the Outcast. My circle expelled me, the fools. Why? Because I dared to expand nature’s reach in ways they couldn’t grasp. I have found what I sought in the Gulthias Tree. Is it not magnificent?" He waves up toward the massive tree behind him, "Why would you want to stop what I have accomplished here? Instead, I can offer you long abundant life like my supplicants here.” He points to the male to his left and the female to his right. "They are now a part of the Gulthias Tree. They will share in the Gulthias Tree's long life that could span for generations upon generations of mere mortals. They are the first of a new race that will rivals the elves in longevity yet exceed the elves in working with nature's reach. And you have the great opportunity to be a part of this new race."
"That's fascinating, although not entirely correct. The reason any of us are here is we were trying to deal with the Goblins who have been attacking people on the roads. Along with their attacks are the Shrubs there which are attacking the livestock and natural animals of the world above ... surely nature has a right to be defended? Are you able to control the shrubs so they stop attacking the wildlife?"
BELAK responds, “Now why would I do that? The twig blights grow from seeds of the tree’s fruit. I give fruit to the goblins with orders to disperse their seeds on the surface. Deceitful beings that they are, the goblins barter the fruit, but the seeds are dispersed all the same. My plan for colonizing the surface with the children of Gulthias continues. And we are nearing the Summer Solstice. See. The fruit is almost ripe. We should soon have more children from the Gulthias tree. Come. Join us.” He points to the more dead than alive looking Gulthias Tree. On one side a single apple like fruit grows. It is a bright red. Another fruit grows on the other side. It is a very pale almost white color.
"You say 'working with nature's reach' but then you have them out there slaughtering innocent animals ... that's a bit of a contradiction isn't it?"
"And look at those two, they look a bit ... well - I would say glassy eyed but they don't seem to have proper eyes anymore ... What do you two have to say for yourselves? Do you like it down here where the sun don't shine?"
Ragdor moves up, noticing the frog Glynt indicates, Well mister Balek, I'm not too sure who you are but the mother of these kids is a might worried about them. She's sent us to bring them home. So, nice to meet you and all, good luck with you're growing season. Kids, your mom sent us to bring you home, can you come with us?
(DM NOTE: You are not dealing with rational here.)
The male and female on either side of BELAK does not respond to GLYNTor RAGDOR.
BELAK responds first to GLYNT, "Nature is a cycle. The bear eats the fish. The eagle the squirrel. Humans eat all manner of things. Survival is for the fittest. And the children of the Gulthias Tree will one day rule all of nature."
He then turns to RAGDOR, "My supplicants here no longer know of their past. They are a part of the Gulthias Tree now. Just as you shall be."
"But enough talk! You all will join me one way or another." He looks at the male and female, “Render them unconscious. I need them alive. BELAK then makes a croaking sound before taking further action.
