The light doesn't seem to have a source, but doesn't seem malevolent in any way. In fact, Valar feels a familiar embracing sensation, like he did as an acolyte of Tyr.
As Valar kneels before the statue, he is filled with holy conviction. His mind becomes suddenly clear in this mad land and he feels the warmth of Araevos protecting him from harm, both mental and physical. Araevos has dubbed him a Knight-Exorcist of Tyr. Valar has become immune to the effects of the Madness in Kholias, and he gains the Blessing of Protection, which I will add as a custom Feat to his character sheet. It provides him with +1 to AC and Saving Throws. In addition to this, a golden rune appears on Valar's chest, depicting a hammer holding up a pair of scales.
Alsen watches with divine wonder as the light slowly fades and this becomes once again a regular church. He says, "We have achieved much today, destroying The Eaters and sanctifying this church. But I feel we must rest, I can Identify the magic items Valar found in the basement if we spend the night here. Also, this man will need time to recover as well." He gestures toward Sanford.
Valar, now inspired and feeling empowered to do justice, nods in agreement. He hands the sword and amulet over to be identified. Then he too will remove his armor, see to its maintenance, and eat a ration to restore vigor.
You all settle down for the evening, feeling the lingering safety of Araevos still shining on you, you know there won't be any Random Encounters tonight. You'll all get a Long Rest, as well as Level Up to Level 5.
Alsen settles down for the night and tells you all, "I know this is a dark place under a dark land, but my mind feels clear for the first time in years. I owe you all a great debt, and if I can be of service to you please tell me how. Thank you all for helping me to free my friends, their spirits now guide me to continue with you all on your quest, wherever that takes us."
Seeing Valar kneel by the statue, Thelanis thinks, Is this it? Is this what I've been waiting for? She kneels next to Valar, opening her heart to Araevos.

Thelanis kneels down beside Valar, and also feels the warm glow of Araevos upon her soul. At first it retreats somewhat but when she gives herself over to it, it embraces her thoroughly. Thelanis also feels the weight on her mind retreat, giving her immunity to the madness of Kholias. She also feels the light shine on her shoulder, dubbing and marking her as a Knight of Araevos. Valar can see this as well, noting that she exhibits the signs of a chosen Paladin.
(Back tracking)'Valar, filled with the newfound joy and sense of purpose, will look at Thelanis and nod. "Welcome sister Paladin, we have much work ahead of us, and I look forward to serving justice and eradicating this evil from the land." He will lay his hand on her shoulder in brotherhood and now a new kinship.
(Current time)-"What is the sword and amulet, can either help us in our new charge?"
Amiz smiles at his companions brimming with spiritual faith. He then shakes his heads "I know little about such magical items. I would not be of help in identifying them"
So as you spend the night in rest, Alsen will Identify the magic items for you:
The sword's name is Blare Kurtak, a Dwarven weapon, durable, with runes worked into its design. The blade is deep blue. It belonged to the Kur clan and was gifted to the High Elves of Ish Alora centuries ago for some deed performed for the dwarves. Before that it was largely a ceremonial sword used in honour of the dwarven god Ord, and you can see the runes seem to be religious in nature (assuming someone speaks Dwarf). When struck against the stone the sword makes a loud gong like sound far louder than it should be.
(It's a Longsword, +2 . You can just customise the name and add the above description when you work out who is taking it. Or I can do that for you once you decide.)
The talisman is far more interesting, and Alsen's eyes go wide when he explains what it is. It is the Sarris Talisman. One of the three Talismans given to the Elves millennia ago by their god Val. It features three large gems (Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire) held together by a silver so pure it blends in with the torchlight, becoming almost invisible. The gem was thought to be lost after the Catastrophe at Kholias. This Talisman functions basically as the emblem of the leader of the High Elves (now Fallen Elves). Mechanically it is a Talisman of Pure Good
Current have conjure animals and dispel magic prepared as 3rd levels. Figure we might need the latter if those mages were around. ]]
Draíocht looked on with awed respect as the light of Araevos comes over Valar and Thelanis. Not sure what to make of it, he meditates on it through his trance.
In the morning his eyes are in wonder at the Sarris Talisman. "Blessings upon us." he says in reverence. "Perhaps there is more light yet to be found in this land of darkness."
Religion: 12+4 = 16 //is Val a god of any particular domain?
[[ Fine if others want Blare Kurtak. And the Sarris Talisman is paladins/clerics so Draíocht wouldn't have a claim to it. ]]
Valar continues to recommend, "I recommend we press on to the Elf camp, and link up with friends before we go after our next foes. There we can get information on the lay of the land, threats, and determine our best course of action."
Draíocht will offer guidance to anyone looking to investigate the statue.

Valar will go and investigate the light coming from the statue. Perception 11+3
The light doesn't seem to have a source, but doesn't seem malevolent in any way. In fact, Valar feels a familiar embracing sensation, like he did as an acolyte of Tyr.
While recalling the last time he prayed, he will trust in his faith, kneel and pray to Tyr

Will you spend the night in this church?
"I could use a rest as that last battle knocked me down a peg or two" says Amiz
If the others agree he will doff his armor ready to rest.
