"The name's Eggo Lass." replies the drow to Hugh. She says to Aridrey, "If light's an issue I've got a solution." Turning back to Hugh she asks, "So what's your motive for being here? Looking to be king?"

A rustling behind the bush alerts Aridrey to presence of another.  A short fat green insect wanders into sight.  It stands on two legs while four arms progressively pick berries and insert them between the mandibles into it's mouth.

To everyone within 20 feet, you hear in your mind, "I am Galochka.  I will be raiding the dungeon as well.  The hunting will be good.".

As you are busy discussing and introducing yourselves to one another, a young woman catches sight of your group and comes over. "Look at the lot of you!", she sneers, looking you all up and down, "Are you here to take on the dungeon or are you here as meat for the monsters? You'll barely last a minute in there!" As she speaks, you analyse her appearance but can't quite put a finger on her race. She appears human, however her hair is wild and unkempt, her eyes like that of a tigers and her fingers end in long black claws. However you can clearly tell from the assortment of magical trinkets, her robes and the prominent hide-bound spell book she has that she is a wizard, and a powerful one at that. "I've trained my whole life for this quest and it should be a cakewalk with powers like mine! Within a month the kingdom will be crowning me, Ivory Shazltaf, the new Queen of Tyraa!" With a cackle she then turns and wanders off back into the crowd of tents. As she leaves, a couple of you spot that from a fold in her robes, she has a short tail ending in a tuft, not unlike that of a lions.

Eggo Lass looks at Ivory in disgust. Pompous jerk, she thinks. She turns to the others, "I'm not sure about you, but I'm in no mood to see her become queen." She mutters under her breath, "I hate tabaxis." Back in a normal tone she asks, "Shall we get going? Or let her try and soften up a couple things before making our way?"

"That sounds like a good plan. I nominate Ivory as our cannon fighter. Anyone second?" Hugh smiles. He starts toward the archway, pulls a human-sized quarter staff off his back and uses it to prod the ground just beyond the archway. (Searching for traps 18)

Hugh notices that as he passes his quarterstaff through the archway, the end that is in the darkness seems to disappear, as if passing through a portal. Before he can go any further, a triton in particularly patchwork Kings Guard uniform rushes up to you. "Wait, wait, that's no ordinary archway!" He reaches your group and keels over panting, then straightens up so you can get a good look at him. He's rather lanky and looks fairly young, and his green scales are contrasted by the spattering of crimson red scales that cover the bridge of his nose. "I'm Asriech Ellfarth, and I act as the voluntary guard for the entry of the dungeon, but people keep sneaking through. You need to know that if you cross that arch you will be transported through a one way portal into the dungeon. Are you sure you're ready to go through?"

Galochka doesn't understand.  It projects its thought, "Asriech, why do standing watch?  What do you have to gain?  They will enter or not.". 

Asriech seems both slightly concerned and surprised to have the thought projected into his brain, but nonetheless says “My father entered these dungeons and never returned. I stand watch here to make sure that those who enter the dungeons know what they are getting into. I’ve seen far too many underprepared and overconfident adventurers go through thinking it will be easy to make their way through without any knowledge of how gruelling the task will be. That’s why I stand guard, to protect the loved ones of these adventurers from facing the grief I had to face”

Suddenly, Ivory appears at the side of the portal, and strides forward to enter. 
“Wait!”, Asriech calls “You’re all alone, you need a full party if you want any chance of surviving!” 
Ivory looks Asriech up and down like she did to you all earlier and says “Gosh how tacky are you? I think you should mind your business. I’m the strongest adventurer to ever grace this pitiful mound, so know your place boy!” She turns away to go towards the portal, but then turns her head towards Asriech and bares her fangs “It would help you to remember in future that cats eat fish for dinner!” And with a flick of her tail, she steps forward and into the gloom of the portal, transported into the dungeon.

“Well, she’s going to die in there. No matter how strong you are, there’s always a chance of being surprised.” Aridrey wraps a handful of blackberries in a napkin and tucks it into a pocket in her bag. She turns towards Asriech. “I don’t expect it to be easy, but I’m as ready as I’ll be.”

 Asreich tells you “The portal always opens on the first level of the dungeon, and each of the portals at the end of the dungeons connect linearly all the way to 100. I’m not to certain on threats as it’s been a while since any scouts with Sending Stones were sent in, but last I heard the first level contains a giant carnivorous mammal of some sort that devours most adventurers before they even reach Level 2”

[I’m probably not going to make a campaign unless you want it since I’ve got most of the character sheets here and you can roll dice in messages. Is there any reason I might need to make one?]

Hugh looks up at Eggo, "No I called her a cannon fighter. That way she thinks she gets to fight with a cannon, makes it easier to recruit." He flashes her a wide grin, "Well, lets not let any traps she sets off reset," with that he walks through the archway.

Eggo Lass smirks and then heads after Hugh. She casts Dancing Lights as she goes to give the halflings visiblity.

Both Eggo Lass and Hugh fade into the gloom of the portal, the rest of you still waiting outside 

[I‘m currently camping but luckily I have data on my phone so I can type but none of the resources I’m going to use to run the dungeons like my laptop or maps. I’ll get back home tomorrow afternoon and I then I can start running the dungeons and set up the campaign. The rest of you can role play between yourself, ask Asriech questions or go through the portal etc]
