Vayn laughs quietly at Phillandros' comment but doesn't comment. He looks at Hildi and says "I'm not sure we are quite ready for hordes of giants or a flight of dragons just yet, so something a bit easier makes sense and maybe this will be a good opportunity to practice working as a team, besides you never know - we could end up having to do some real work if anyone tries to make trouble."
Night tries to reflect Jhessana's excitement, but will only succeed in a crooked and toothy grin. And even that much becomes strained hearing of other noble familes being added to the mix. "More like an opportunity to embarrass master."Night halfheartedly mutters and looks askance. However, after taking a moment to think mull things over more, he will lose the air of doom and gloom and say, "If'n you don't mind me ask'n, Lady Jhessana, Captain--" He nods curtly to Dietarch. "What sort of trouble should we expect? Also, will Lady Viira be attending as well?"

"A good question. I think the worst sort of trouble we could expect would be if some of the other young nobles on retreat from Waterdeep decide tonight would be a good opportunity to get rowdy. I haven't heard of any other potential troubles in the area of late."
Edgar happily adds. "We are the first regiment of our kind, we will have many eyes scrutinizing us, so the better we do on our first mission, the better public opinion of us will be, but *leans over and knocks on Nights wooden rifle butt* if we do poorly we will have many advocates trying to get us shut down. Ive heard terrible stories from adventurers where a new guild tries to set up or a new group goes out on their first only to be thrown to the lions when they return due to a social or political mixup."
Edgar smiles softly. "But, we do have a bit of practice under our belts, and as long as we hope for the best and prep for the worst. We will come out on top. So do we get the details of the mission so we can set up a plan or do you already have everything in place?" looking to Jhessana.
"I am pretty sure my only reason for being assigned here was meant as a joke and perhaps an excuse to dismiss this as a failure to her peers., But it was either this, or the hangman's noose..."
"We were all something else before Phillandros, now we are Knights of Thunder, and we are not going to be an excuse for anything - Jhess, her uncle and the rest are going to be proud of what we achieve." Vayn pats him on the upper arm, having planned for the shoulder but being thrown off by how much higher than usual it is.

"For the most part we'll just be like any other guards, wandering about the party, making sure everything is safe and secure. The idea is that just our presence there should help to prevent any ruckus before it even gets started, so with any luck everything will go smoothly and we won't have to do much more than that. Dietrich and I will stick close to my uncle, focusing on safeguarding him specifically, leaving the rest of you all to spread your attention around the rest of the party."
"And since you'll all be rather spread out," Viira suddenly pipes in, "make sure you remember to use your flare-sticks if trouble does start up."
What started off as absent-minded nodding turns into a deep scowl and a short hiss in Edgar's as Night rips the musket away, and starts cradling it like a delicate baby. More annoyed than truly angry however, he will listen to the rest without interruption, though will make a point of setting his weapon on the opposite side... away from dear Edgar.
"Understood, milady Viira."He bows to the gnome, then looks back up to Jhessana. There's a few false starts here and there, but eventually Night will pipe up again and asks, "T-that said... should, uhm... should at least move in pairs at the party? Or even, should at least one or two of us stay out of sight after the start? Just in case? N-not to s-s-sound paranoid, but.. if some of the nobles get too curious and... distracting... well..."Night trails off from there, looking suddenly worn and uncertain at the ground. Truthfully, this is as much as he's spoken since arriving at the manor home.

"Indeed, best behavior is certainly called for," Jhessana interjects with a nod in Phillandros's direction. Then she turns to Vayn. "That would be business, namely the uniforms you're all wearing right now."
Gimmur Arnskull glances down at his uniform, then flicks some imaginary dirt off of his tunic. He checks his ammunition box and the set of his weaponry. After a few minutes, he looks up with a huge grin. "I think I'm ready!"
Then his face falls into a pensive frown. "Do we know this town good enough to guard it? Ins and outs? Nooks and crannies? Hidey-holes that might be used against your uncle?"

Jhessana looks at Gimmur and takes a moment to ponder the question. Dietrich actually cracks a wry smile as he watches her.
"Master Gimmur actually brings up a fair point, Miss Jhessana. Knowing the lay of the land can be a huge factor if trouble does come up, and our team here has been pretty firmly cooped up here on the property ever since they arrived."
"Very true, Dietrich," Jhess admits with a glance at all of you. Then she gives a firm nod of her head as if deciding something for herself. "Alright, here's what we'll do then. The party isn't until six bells tonight, which gives us almost the whole day to prepare, and I think you guys have earned a bit of a working break if you will. To that end, let's all head back over to the hall and get cleaned up, then as far as I'm concerned, you all have the rest of the day to yourselves to go and wander about the town and familiarize yourselves with it. Particularly the Square and the town green, since that's where the party will be. Everyone just needs to be back here by four bells so we can get ready to go."
Alright, you guys have effectively reached a "checkpoint" now. We've got past the introductory portion of the adventure, so now you guys can sort of take the wheel for a bit. You can go find shops if you want to buy anything or sell some old gear. (Note that Viira will actually take some of that stuff off of your hands as well, if you want her to.) You can go get a drink at the local tavern if you wish, and listen to the local gossip. Or you can literally just wander around for a little while, not really doing anything in particular. Just let me know what you all want to do.
Edgar, will go up to gimmur, "i liked your idea to get a lay of the land, did you want to explore the area and see if there are any places of interest to note?"
Then looking over to Phillandros. "I would apreciate if you would add your experiance to the scouting sir." and then smiles sincerely.
