Edgar ill come down to the dining room to meet up with Gimmur and Philandris. "Thanks for waiting, something important needed to take care of. So is it just us?"
"You and me and P makes three! M-O-O-N -- that spells three! Let's go!" Gimmur chirps in as cheery and friendly a voice as you've ever heard from a dwarf, then turns and starts to head towards the main doors to the manor.

Knowing the bugbear might not be able to resist a full on feast, Night will spend most of the waiting period fussing with his clothing and newfound gun. Not to the extent of taking the latter fully apart just yet, but enough so that it truly shines by the time he's done with it before enlisting Erulisse aid in making it loosely concealed but easier to travel and draw with than the crate.
If he needs to he'll even give her the 'adorable' kitty eyes. Because, there was no way he was going to attempt to do the same with the unseen servants, assuming they were even that responsive to non-Roaringhorn. Afterwards, he'll race after the others, possibly winding up having to trail them.
(As an aside, how much do we know about Erulisse already? Or did I miss that post explaining all that?)
All you really know about Erulisse is that she is of half-elven descent and apparently from a long tradition of highly skilled caretakers, referred to as Keepers, that originated in Silverymoon. She has been openly warm and friendly with each of you in all of your interactions with her thus, though she does seem to have a bit of a soft spot for Phillandros and Night, acting almost motherly to them. You also know that she is married to Dietrich, and the two of them have two children who are currently staying with relatives in Silverymoon for their schooling.
Edgar, Phillandros, Night, & Gimmur: You all gather up together after about an hour of handling personal affairs, then set off into Amphail proper. Do you have any particular destination in mind? Particular goals you wish to accomplish?
Vayn: Give me an Investigation Check (DC15) to see if you can locate someone in town that you have connections with. I assume you are traveling separate from the others? Or would you be traveling with them at least until you find someone?
Vayn: Since your background feature expressly says that you have at least one contact in each town or city, I'll allow you to reroll that check once (basically advantage on the initial check). The only reason I'm having you actually roll for this is because Amphail is a rather small, out of the way town that many organizations prefer to avoid.
Quoted from the SCAG:
Aside from the excesses of its nobles, Amphail is a peaceful town, with the threat of full-scale retaliation from both Waterdeep and the Lords’ Alliance casting a long, dark shadow over any plans to disturb matters there. The nobles of Waterdeep have heavy purses, and are willing to spend as much coin as necessary to protect their favored playground — and to punish anyone that might disrupt their control over it.

Since Hildi spends a lot of his time reading, would it be OK to work on becoming proficient in some tasks? For example, since he's only a +2 in survival, could he study up on tracking or rock climbing or foraging and eventually become proficient in the skill he studied?
Edgar is following for the time, he was thinking gimmur and phillandros would have better experiance scouting/casing an area for advantageous info. Edgar is a wee lad when adventuring is counted.
Edgar asks his companions, "so where to first? How do we get ready for a guard assignment. What do we look for?"
Aside from assisting the others canvassing the town, Night will slip away once or twicet to check out the shops (or shop, as the case may be) to purchase a few odds and ins, as well as inquiry into any recent odd orders. In addition, he'll ask the more adventurer gear minded shop keep if Knights of the Unicorn passed through recent.
Before then, however...
"Quiet Places. High Places. Escape Routes. 'Curious' People. And among ourselves, form counter afterwards." Night will comment as he extended fingers one after the other.
Edgar starts counting on his fingers as night does. "Well lets start with quiet places, it seems like if someone would set a trap the would wait in those, then i say curious people, see if we can get more info and see who what kind of people would be attracted to threaten the party goers if any at all. so who is good at finding quiet places?" edgar asks. Looking between night and phillandros.
"Me! I'm good at being quiet! SHH! Everybody be quiet!" Gimmur looks around at each person going to town sternly. "See? Quiet,"he grins.
"Mostly I look for people who don't look like they belong where they are. That's what keeping watch aboard ship was like, and in the mines too."His face falls when he mentions the mines.

Night will look to Phillandros as well before simply nodding in the affirmative to Edgar.
After getting over the initial shock, Night just shakes his head in mild amusement at the dwarf. At first. What followed after is enough to for a hesitant few pats on the shoulder in condolence. Much as he seemed tempted for a moment to pry, thinking better on it, the Tabaxi would look to Philandros and say, "Fret not, Sir Phillip. Believe it or not, as a Knight of Thunder, the good people of this town -- nay, perhaps even the whole of Faerun w-will come to accept your place." He smiles awkwardly. "B-but before then, let's put the present status to g-g-good use. Right, big guy?"
Night goes to slap Phillandros on the shoulder, but stops short and settles for a thumbs-up instead. Afterwards, he'll bound ahead a ways, seeming intent on leading the search for quiet places first and foremost.

Whilst the conversation continues Vayn comes up to the group and greets them.
"Well met, I have to say that my hope of finding an old contact to get us some information about this place has fallen through, he isn't here, at least I can't find him. It looks like we won't have any insider knowledge but if you need me to do something else, say the word."
Despite his failure at finding an old contact from his past Vayn is looking forward to the assignment and is more cheerful than any of the other Knights in Training have seen him.

Given his 'criminal' background (though if you asked he will say he's a smuggler not a criminal even thought he was caught) when we reach town Phillandros will keep his eyes out for either anyone he may recognize or perhaps any place where the criminal underground may operate out of. As a place perhaps to gather some intel or at least to make note of before they start working later tonight. Otherwise, he'll just enjoy the brief freedom found in not being cooped up training, walking the markets, perhaps purchasing things to snack on etc.
"Well met, Sir Vayn. While that news is unfortunate, there is always hope for things to turn around. Fact of the matter is, aside from Sir Gimmur and Sir Edgar here, well..." Night pauses for a second, and then with a arm propped up at the elbow, taps his chins a in thought. "Huh. Maybe folks would have been open enough. But! The more the merrier, as my master would say." Night declares with a clap of his hands. "Now. The tavern. Will start there. But keep your eyes peeled along the way."
