(Previous round damage roll: 5. Since the scarecrow didn't resist the spell, it also had disadvantage on the first attack roll, in case that was missed.)
(the first attack was at dis. The second roll was a crit)
And with a 6, it takes the further 1 damage.
And then due to the inspiration, it takes a further (correctly corrected) 12 fire damage. It is started to fray now (seeing as I don't think a construct can look "injured").
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sterling grimaced at the lack of damage his blade was doing, but then saw the straw golem attack Mana. He froze for a second, anger threatening to override his calm assessment of the situation, before Oriace healed the verdan enough for him to lash back with flame.
Turning a steely gaze back to the scarecrow, he lunged again with his blade. "Just DIE already!" he yelled.
ACTION: Attack the scarecrow with his rapier * Rapier Thrust - Attack: 18, Mundane Piercing Damage: 10
The scarecrow, enraged by fire, strikes twice against Mana in retaliation. However due to the slight smouldering going on, misses both times. (8 with disadvantage, and then 7 without it)
Everyone else is up. With mediocre or better rolls, it might not get another turn.
With renewed energy, Mana adroitly dodges the two claw attacks, sidestepping the first and ducking under the second. He stands his full height, wincing slightly at the residual pain, and sniffs the air.
”Nah, even the flames didn’t remove your stink. You still smell like moldy hay.”
Adding 5 more via the “Magical Inspiration” given by Toser.
Magical Inspiration (Special)
If a creature has a Bardic Inspiration die from you and casts a spell that restores hit points or deals damage, the creature can roll that die and choose a target affected by the spell. Add the number rolled as a bonus to the hit points regained or the damage dealt. The Bardic Inspiration die is then lost.
Oriace steps forward, his voice laced with magic as he directs another vicious taunt at the cursed construct. "Look at you—straw-brained, slow, and utterly outmatched. Even a real farmer’s scarecrow does a better job than you at staying upright!"(CastsVicious Mockery, forcing a DC 14 Wisdom save or dealing 2 psychic damage and giving disadvantage on its next attack, we could assume that he readies this action for after the scarecrow attacks once so that it adds to Mana's spell and forcing disadvantage on the second attack.)
His sharp grin remains as he sees the scarecrow falter, the weight of their relentless attacks finally bearing down on it. This fight was nearing its end, and Oriace could feel the thrill of victory just within reach.

A 6 on the save. And leaves him on 1hp!
Which makes Sterling's lack of extra crit damage irrelevant (and the rest of the rolls after, which all hit. Including Oriace's spell which would have had a 9 to save if they were alive).
All three scarecrows are dead! You are all now level 3 as there will be no more encounters before we move to the next chapter (though we will have some downtime for dealing with the tavern)
Mana drops his torch into the pile that used to be the scarecrow. He draws his dagger and carefully prods the remaining smolders back and forth until the ashes cool. His focus narrows to the flickering edges of unburnt fabric that once was the menace’s clothing. The outside world flees his consciousness for several minutes. If his compatriots talked to him, he didn’t notice.
The sudden chill of a crisp breeze no longer warmed by an already set sun, and the cawing of a nearby raven brings him back to the moment.
”I’m ready for a rest.” He says meekly, turning to each member of the troupe. “I’m quite sure we’ve all earned it.”
The barely perceptible smell of pot roast tempts his nose from a nearby farmhouse. His stomach grumbles audibly. He struggles to remember when he ate last.
“Thank you all for having my back. I am very fortunate to have found you all. And that you were willing to take me in.” He smiles as he draws the flats of his dagger through his cloak, cleaning away the ash before sheathing the blade.
Oriace stands with a satisfied nod, carefully scanning the now-quiet fields. “Well done, everyone,” he says, his voice carrying a note of genuine gratitude. “That was no small challenge, and yet, you all rose to meet it without hesitation. I have no doubt the good folk at the Emerald Grove—who first brought this dire matter to our attention—will be most pleased to learn of our success. With these constructs destroyed, the farmers can rest easy knowing their harvest is safe, and the villagers can finally sleep in peace.”
He pauses, glancing at the smoldering remains of the scarecrows. “We still don’t know who, or what, breathed foul life into them. Yet for the moment, our efforts have thwarted their plans. Perhaps they’ll keep to the shadows and think twice before causing more trouble.” A thoughtful look crosses his face before he turns back to the group. “In any case, we shall hear of it soon enough if they decide to stir again. For now, let’s stay in the nearby village for the night, enjoy a well-earned rest, and head back to the tavern first thing in the morning. We’ll report our findings and let them know they can count on us if any more mischief arises.”
"I'm fine with staying in the village," sighed Sterling, glad the fight was over. "After something that harrowing, I think I'll even go ahead and spend some coin on a decent wine for once!"
Toser's shoulders slumped as the anxiety and tension of the fights and the hunt were suddenly relieved. "Yes, I find myself very tired. If we cand find a place close by to rest for the night that would be great. Some songs and stories may be enough to pay for lodging at a small inn or even a farmers loft."
(in terms of village, it's technically still Waterdeep, just the outskirts outside the wall if I remember right from when I read it. But there will be somewhere you can rest)
Oriace stretches as the morning sun casts its first light over the quiet outskirts. "A job well done, and now it's time to tie up loose ends," he says, glancing at the others. "I suggest we split up—those who wish can deliver the news of our success to the Emerald Enclave, while the rest of us head back to the manor to check on the renovations and see how things are coming along." He brushes some lingering dust from his coat and adjusts his rapier at his side. "I’d like to return to the manor and see what progress has been made. We put quite a bit of coin into it, after all. If any of you would rather join me, you're more than welcome. Otherwise, let’s regroup back home once the news has been delivered." His expression lightens as he glances between his companions. "And perhaps, if all went well, we’ll finally see our place starting to shape up into something worth calling our own."
(I think I calculated the fire damage wrong. 1 for the torch + 5 for the oil, then all doubled for vulnerability, for a total of 12.)

Toser stays about 20 feet from the scarecrow and continues to launch a mote of light at it.
To hit 9, damage 3 (game log)
He also calls to "Hang on, we almost got it!" granting bardic inspiration to Mana
