One basilisk charges forward blasting through the entrancing pattern of colors filling the darkness. We'll, everyone sees them. As Grey, but trust me, they're colorful.
It's quite close the Sparhawk, but appears to be just out of range of spirit guardians.
It's a dash action, so that's it. Players are still up.
Sparhawk attacks the Basilisk next to him, "Come on up Tatsat, just walk backward say about 6 feet."
(Please correct me if I'm wrong, Basilisk is incapacitated, so he gets advantage on attacks and any attack that hits is a critical hit) Sparhawk attacks with advantage and bless: To hit 28, Damage: 16 damage, Second attack: to hit: 31 to hit, 15.
The bard wonders if they mean 6 feet of their large orcish feet lengths or 6 of her elven feet lengths, but smiles at the thought and leans a bit more in their direction (in game mechanics another 5 or 10 ft) with her eyes still closed, only the direction of sparhawk’s voice to guide her). She trusts her connection to the divine spirit of nature and memory, or dedication to truth and curiosity and lore, manifest in the spirits guarding them both. (She brings the spirits forward so that if someone tries to strike sparhawk Whitney 5ft they would have to enter them)
”you be the hammer; and I the gust behind its speed” she makes the scene a lyric, perhaps for a fireside song in the future.
So with the other two monsters being impacted by the hypnotic fireworks (patterns) can we all just move up to the first one and attack at same time and kill it? Then repeat for second?
You proceed through the den. Oddly shaped chunks of rock are strewn about this cave, which reeks of ammonia. Scattered among the irregular rock pieces are stone sculptures of various creatures, including bats, subterranean lizards, and a broken bust of a gnome with a horrified expression. In the farthest reaches of the cavern you find one more basilisk. Behind her stands a nest full of eggs.
She refuses to move but postures defensively, angrily warding off any who dare approach. She will certainly use her gaze on the first creature who draws near enough to incur it's effects.
Koselig holds his hands and arms outstretched like a bird would and backs slowly away.
"What do we do now?"

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
"If we kill the mother what do we do with the eggs?"
Koselig looks a little non-plussed at Sparhawk's apparent bloodthirsty response.

"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
The head and shoulder of a petrified gnome lie near the basilisk nest at the back of the cave. The broken statue wears a pair of unpetrified goggles, which are Eyes of Minute Seeing.
Sparhawk puts his sword away, pulls out his shield,
“I accept your gift and we will leave your home.” The strange Paladin says to the beast. He will slowly move to retrieve the goggles while looking at the ground. He will back away slowly toward the lake. “welcome my new friends. Some call me captain, that’s a long story, but the name is Sparhawk. This is Koeslig, a long time companion of mine. Gesturing to the rogue, my friend there calls himself Dallas but we have only recently met.”
the captain is a hard looking man, standing over 6 feet in height. He wears black battle scarred plate with the symbol of a lion on the breast plate. He seems a strange mix of orc with strange bugbear features. He has a distinctive fractured nose, and although a paladin by trade, you wonder why the nose does not heal. His eyes are warm but seem tired and sad.
As another option for goggles: So how about me moving slowly to one side of the cave so that I can get say 30 feet away from the goggles and cast mage hand to retrieve them (if the basilisk stare is concern I can simply close eyes and view the room through my invisible familiars eyes)
Tatsat watches the others, curious to see the transition from willingness to exterminate the stone sculptors to worrying about the mother.
“I guess whoever comes here next will get to meet these children at their full scale”, she reflects… “only the mighty shall pass” she whistles a playful jest toward future travelers.
“Having beasts such as this reclaim this cave may bring it back to its natural order, and to be honest, none “should” travel here.” The paladin jests. “I believe it is a gateway to evil.”
“Tell me about yourselves so that we may call each other friends.”
You’re not sure why but you feel this man is one you would like as a friend but not an enemy. He has a sort of friendly relaxed manner, yet clearly is fearless. If any are from Chult or Luskin, the city of sails, you have heard of Sparhawk.
You can just take them. I'm trying to move past this rather morbid affair. It's very 'of its time' imo. A dead end with a nest of eggs and some frankly useless treasure. Yikes.
There is no gift here, paladin. You just robbed a corpse, but it's not like he was going to need them.
That thing is still mad as hell, though, and those chuul in the lake won't be gnawing on dwarf bones forever. So what's the plan?

"Hit it with everything you got my friends."
Sparhawk clobbers the basilisk and it goes down.

“Yes, that should work. Sparhawk advances to the next one. “Everybody ready? On three…. One. Two… three…”
That should work.
You mercilessly slaughter two basilisks.

"What do we do now?"
Kill the next one while we have up our spells.
(Changing post, didn’t see two dead)
seeing a mother protecting her eggs, Sparhawk pauses, then moves backward toward the lake. If the mother pursues, he will attack to the end.
"If we kill the mother what do we do with the eggs?"
Koselig looks a little non-plussed at Sparhawk's apparent bloodthirsty response.
“Looks like a mother. I’m going to back off.” Sparhawk looks for anything of importance in the area.

“Yes these eggs will hatch and the circle of life continues. While not innately evil, deadly non the less. “
