Sparhawk say, “be careful, I’ve seen creatures that look like those stalactites and drop from cave roofs and attack. (Perception. 6). I don’t see anything. Anyone else?”
Looking up at the cavern. (Passive perception 16 … and rolled a int check vs active perception. So 7 on die plus 6 so 13- worse than my passive score so 16 passive perception if it helps)
Sparhawk smiles, and although he has smile lines, the lines of strain, loss and worry have overtaken them.
"Tatsat, it seems like a long time since I have found joy, and your comments sooth my soul. Since embarking on this campaign, I have found only evil, and loss. Thank you."
Whoever decides to dive in finds, on the floor of the flooded cavern, a marid named Kasdu'ul trapped in an unbreakable stone cage etched with glowing runes, which confines the genie to the pool.
(ooc: if the group splits in two then Kos will most likely stay in the boat... but if we're all going for a dive down to the bottom then so will Kos, he won't stay behind by himself.)

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
While the others dive down Kos mentions to Sparhawk, "Hey, what do you think of these new fellows? They seem pretty capable to me."

“Well, I’m not quite sure how they found us but yes, they seem capable. You and I have been through quite an ordeal since we met near the camp. That seems like long ago to me. I am very sorry we lost Cha!jil.”
The genie speaks in a lethargic tone. "Kasdu'ul was trapped here by the dao Kashem centuries ago," he says. He seems to be in great pain.
The runes on the stone cage glow as you approach. At 60ft distant, you feel an intense urge to leave the area and avoid the cage. Anyone who sees the target or comes within 60 feet of it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened.
On failure, you remain frightened while you can see the cage or when within 60 feet of it. While frightened by the target, you must use your movement to move to the nearest safe spot from which you can't see the target.
If you move more than 60 feet from the cage and can't see it, you're no longer frightened.
I afraid so move back to surface I do look back to see if tatsat is ok as I flee to surface
on breaking water. “Some fish dude is locked in a cage. Couldn’t get away fast enough. No attacks just could t be around it. <insert if tatsat is ok or not once we know their role>. “
“Hum, is it locked or magical in nature? I wonder if we can set him free? Also , did he talk?” The paladin is very curious. Allies were always welcome.
“Looked to be in a cage of some sort. -likely had warding spells on it if it made me frightened to go further. The creature said it had been down there for hundreds of yrs. Wonder if I can go back down …”
Really the module is asking the players to find the solutions, I'm just offering the option of reducing the thinking to a die roll. If you have a good idea yiu dint have to roll anything.

Rolled perception 24
tatsat looks around the roof and into the water, to see any clues before heading into the water…
“if we do go down there, anyone joining me?” She gives a sweet smile, showing a little vulnerability.
“Tatsat I can go with you. I’d suggest that I remove my armor first….nothing like swimming with a boat anchor around your chest”
Sparhawk smiles, and although he has smile lines, the lines of strain, loss and worry have overtaken them.

Anyone with detect magic down there?
(ooc: if the group splits in two then Kos will most likely stay in the boat... but if we're all going for a dive down to the bottom then so will Kos, he won't stay behind by himself.)
(For now, Sparhawk will stay on the shore, it is difficult to swim with plate armor.)
Diabrix can cast detect magic.
Tatsat and diabrix seems to be in the water with the genie
”why do you know of this place? And tell us from full name.:. No tricks now” (while detect magic is being cast)

If someone has detect magic up:
They see it's enchantment magic on the runes.

Anybody have high wis? Wants to try for arcana or religion on the runes?
”If you are not fearful now, the effect wore off.”
