The grand library stands before you. It must have been at least five stories high, and many feet wide. It's large gates of polished dolomite shone in the sun, emblazoned by golden carvings of harpies. The library curiously had no windows, but it's smooth, tan stone shone like gold in the sunlight. In front of the library was a small garden. Water, about six inches deep in a landscaped circular pond, contained a smaller island accessible by bridges. On this island was a marble sundial with a painting of the moon and sun on either end. Doves were nesting in the trees nearby. As you approached the gates a man staggered out, he was a human who seemed in his early twenties. While he had a mage's robe he did not at all seem like a powerful, respectable wizard, but a clumsy commoner who had just begun studying the arcane arts.
"Oh! Why hello there adventurers, I am glad to see that you made it! I am Mattias Emberstaff, apprentice of Elzyrm Magius, the owner of this library." He wandered over to an ivory table beside the entrance. "Before we go in, take a seat and tell me about yourself. I will take any questions you have, my letter was a bit...cryptic. Tea is ready, I hope you like chamomile!"
"Greetings and well met, my name is Zerxius from a monastery of no note, north of Waterdeep, my masters have sent me from a vision to see if i could be of assistance"
A white-haired gnome woman walks slowly through the door humming a soft tune as her fingertips brush her mace and shield. Her pigtails bounce off the chainmail armor with crude etchings of the god Tempus at the front. She smiles as she takes a seat at the table. “Hello y’all,” she says with a slight drawl, ”my name is Alleria Lighthamr, with one r and no e. No, e. But my friends call me 'Boxey.'" She sets her mace on the table and wipes her brow. "Praise Tempus, some tea would be lovely, thank you. I just came to the library.”
With hands clasped on his belt, a gnome in dark clothing saunters slowly forward, his eyes never landing on the same place twice. A wide smirk spreads across his face at the sight of Mattias and fellow adventurers. “An’ hello to you, my good man! Grabius P. Goldesnatch at yer service this fine day. (bowing low) Can’t say I’ve had Chamomille before, but I’m always eager for new experiences.” He gives a quick wink and slowly rolls his hand over the pommel of a blade at his side.
"Tea?" asked the tiefling. "Why not milk? Can't we get some decent brandy?"
He sighed.
"Name's Allure," he reluctantly introduced himself. "And to say that your message was cryptic would be a monumental understatement. So before we get to tea, I would like to know this isn't a colossal waste of time."
Mattias nodded at Zerxius and grinned. "I am grateful that you came!"
Matthias rubbed the back of his brown, curly hair as the gnome came in, he was a bit off-put by her rowdy entrance, but smiled awkwardly nevertheless. "Yeah!"
As he addressed Grabius after passing the tea around he looked into the pot as if something was curious about it. "Oh why yes, I'm quite fond of it, I assume the same will be true for you."
He finally turned to the tiefling. As he looked at the tiefling his expression was unreadable(insight check to reveal more). "Oh well, I don't own cattle..."
"Why of course!" He hastily said to the Allure's second remark. "So in short, the Devil, Caelius has infiltrated the library. Master Magius believed that the devil was after the Forge of Realms, a magical force capable of great and terrible smithing. Master Magius feared that he could wipe out all of Elturgard if he and his minions had access to it, so he locked it away, only accessible if fed seven gems of arcane power. These gems as well as keys to the library have been hidden and scattered throughout several demiplanes. Unfortunately however...this means that I can't access the other demiplanes, as I don't have the keys to the higher floors on the library. With Master Magius gone I need your help. The demiplanes themselves have become unruly due to Caelius' presence."

Allure furrowed his brow.
"Wizards... All I understood was 'demon' and 'gone'", he said. "Let me get this straight. Demons attacked your... whatever this is in hopes of capturing the artifact which can make the world miserable. And instead of destroying it or making it completely inaccessible, you and your shit for brains master scattered the keys to it across planes you can't access. Can Caelius? And what is it you want us to do?"
Stretching out his knuckles, Grabius pipes up, “You requested my skills, so you know I’m good with a black bag operation. Why don’t we take a look at some of those locks on the higher levels? ...hm? Or do we have to play by the book?” A slight grin sliding across his face. “But in all fairness, I’m afraid I have to side with Mr. Tiefling. What’re a couple-a gnomes, a tiefling, and...that guy (guessturing to Zerxius) supposed to do?” Slowly squinting a right eye as his left brow raises.
As the tea was passed around Mattias's look could not be mistaken to Allure. He could tell that Mattias was disturbed by tieflings, probably due to their heritage. A devil did attack the library after all.
"So...I take it you all are ready to see the library!" He said with a grin. Before any of them could object he scampered over to the grant gates and hoisted them open. The library, devoid of windows was lit by numerous lamps. The warm orange glow bathed the inside of the library which displayed many shelves, wooden pillars, fireplaces, and persian rugs. As he led them down a long hall, perhaps even two hundred feet long they reached another door. Opening this door was a small round room. Arcane runes were marked on the walls. In the center of the room was a well, which seemed to be made of polished flagstone. Around the well were several holes that seemed to fit gems.
"As you can see the well...is missing it's crystals. If you were to hop inside you would only be in a ten-foot well. However, if you put the crystals into this well it becomes the portal to the Forge of Realms." Mattias repeated. "As you may remember the crystals, and the keys, are scattered about the library in demiplanes. The first one...is right there."
Mattias gestured toward a wooden podium with an open book on top of it. It was open to a blank spread.

Boxey takes note of the well and various features before she steps into the room with the runes. She wonders what - if any - deities the runes are associated with.

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Many odd sights could be seen about the room. The runes, indecipherable to Boxey, were slightly familiar to Grabius and Allure. They seemed to be magical enchantments for weapons, if inscribed onto a weapon with a magical metal they could grant it magical properties. Allure couldn't help but notice that this floor of the library was all about smithing and magical weapons, which explained the runes.
Mattias turned to Zerxius. "Why yes... this is the demiplane. This book right here!"

Not losing eye contact with Mattias, in response to Zerxius, “Agreed! Especially when they hide a secret or three. Heh-heh!”
Allure looks asquint at Boxey.
"Just so know, I'm taking it personally," he says, smiling.
