Okay, hide away and I will try and distract them. Damn, I wish I was a bard!
Allure snaps his tail again and approaches the guards.
The following will likely require social interaction check. I will go with Deception, because +5. I don't think they are particularly hard to trick, but DM, please post DC for the check.
Deception: 23
"I am well-aware of the fact. Or are you blind?" tiefling made a gesture that was supposed to be pointing to his general demonic outlook, his voice booming, bolstered by Thaumaturgy. By the same cantrip, torches flickered and dimmed for a few seconds. "I was summoned to aid you in the endeavor. The terms have been cast, the deal has been struck and you will open the gates."
The hobgoblins visibly cringed as they saw the tiefling approach. One hobgoblin seemed more to feel uncomfortable, the other seemed to have a knowing look of dread. (Insight check to identify the expression). The first hobgoblin steps forward and nods his head as Allure speaks. The two guards step aside, not noticing Grabius or Zerxius as they sneak closer.
"I never heard of this plan, but when do I hear of anything?" The hobgoblin snarled. "Make sure those odd mushroom folk don't get to your brain, this is their territory now."
The tiefling pushes the gates open and steps through, thinking on the ways to distract the guards further. Without arousing their suspicion, he won't be able to snuff out the torches to give his comrades an edge. He wiggles his fingers slightly as he casts yet another Thaumaturgy. This time, however, a mysterious rumbling is heard a dozen of yards from the gates. Allure hopes it would provoke hobgoblins to go investigate, allowing his Grabius and Zerxius to pass unnoticed.
As the spell is cast, Allure doesn't stop or even slightly pause, pretending he has nothing at all to do with this. He continues forth, with a satisfied grin on his face.
The hobgoblins didn't have much time before the heard the rumbling noise. They hissed in anger and charged into the woods after it's source, assuming it to be a pursuer. The distraction was achieved, the party was, cloaked by the distraction, able to slink past the guards unnoticed. The only one noticed by the guards was Boxey, who gave them Tempus' blessing. The hobgoblin that heard the blessing, the same one who had seemed worried simply scowled.
"Bah! Tempus can shove his blessings up his arse! I only care for the blessing of Maglubiyet!" He snarled, running toward the bushes. Boxey could not identify the cryptic look the hobgoblin had showed.
"It was a nice show, but I'm unsure how many more times can it work. There's bound to be at least someone there who's not a complete idiot," Allure commented. "Let's try and avoid the need to repeat it. And get the **** away from the gates before they figure out what's going on and start a ruckus."
Grabius slides in line alongside the group and in a low voice says, "And perhaps I'll have a better handle on that book travel bit since it seems we'll be doing this a time or two more. I much prefer to remain unnoticed before we have to exchange words, ...or deeds..." He remarked with a smirk as he started looking around this new side of the gate.
As the party advances they reach another clearing in the dim, mushroom forest, but this one is littered with tiny, yellow mushrooms. The mushrooms have an aroma about them, it seems like they are edible. (Nature check to reveal if they are poisoned, edible, or something else). Ahead past this clearing is another path, this new path winds, so what is beyond can't be seen from this clearing.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grabius decides to pick a couple and take a closer look. “No hurt in keeping a few for the road. At least in case we discover a good use for them. Better to be prepared, I say...”

“In case we have any more...’unwelcome surprises’, I’m going to sneak ahead a little bit.”
As the group remained a few fireflies whizzed by. The forest in that glade, for all they would know was still.
Grabius wandered ahead to see:
A small grove stood here with five large blue mushrooms in a semi-circle. The mushrooms were huge, each about six feet in height. Beyond this grove was a tunnel leading to a sort of city. Only a glimpse could be seen, but the buildings appeared to be made of mushrooms. In the middle of the five huge mushrooms stood a humanoid. This humanoid resembled a mushroom with arms, legs, and a face. It also had a wooden buckler as well as a sword. They seemed very excited, shuddering like a child full of caffeine. A small cloud of spores hovered around him. Nature check to reveal his species.

Boxey stares at the hobgoblins, wondering why one of them would look worried.

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Zerxius tense in the shadows waiting for Boxey to move

Boxey moves closer to the hobgoblins and bows. "I offer you a blessing of Tempus to aid you on your battles."

"There's something vaguely familiar about them. Maybe I read something? Or is it a potion ingredient? I can't recall..."

The mushrooms are, as the two can conclude, not poisonous. They seem to be, somewhat different, not a normal mushroom obviously.
