I'm Dave aged 57, father of 2 and grandfather of 1. I was introduced to D&D by Les in 1984 when we worked together and for many years played tabletop. Our group had some younger players and as they aged and moved away tabletop became harder. I have been part of Les' pbem games from time to time since 2001.
Thar is a slight re-imagining of a character of the same name I played in 4e. (Was previously a human but now an elf.) He is a little aloof being an elf, highly intelligent and about the maturity of a human teenager, having just Come of Age. He has a deep thirst for knowledge and is always seeking to know more as well as increasing his magical powers.
Whilst not much more than an apprentice his tutor 'suggested' he pursue his studies out in the world for he was deemed to not work well with the other students. Though not a big conversationalist he can often come across as sarcastic, possibly even demeaning, to those he considers do not use their own intelligence wisely. He believes in a world of order, though not control, and recognises that his intellect is often of greater benefit than his muscles.
Arya, her first memory was when she was four years old and running through the streets being chased by... she can’t remember. She also doesn’t remember her parents or even her name; she chose her name when she was listening to an ancient bard who was telling stories of the old heroes and fell in love with Arya Stark the greatest of all rogues.
She would cry herself to sleep ever night because she was so lonely until at her lowest point a miracle occurred and Owly came to her. FInd Familiar another time she was running from a gang of older children who where going to steal her meagre stash of belongings when she hid in the sewers. She was lost in the dark and terrified of the sounds of vermin all around and managed to call a magic light. Light
Once she was captured by the watch and locked in a cell, she could see the keys on a peg and wished for them so hard they floated over to her. Mage Hand
There was a minor noble who would have people beaten if they thwarted him in any way. A cobbler had his fingers broken because he was late delivering some boots. The man’s daughter had been sick. Arya asked the cobbler for a copper pennie as payment and then snuck into the noble’s house and killed him. He had a nice rapier hung on the wall so she took that only to find latter that it was magic. Flame Tongue Rapier
From then on she made her living killing but only if in her view the person deserved it. You met her when she had been hired to kill an ogre who had been terrorising local farmers.
I'm Jimmy, I'm quiet new to tabletop and only 16 which, with everything considered I feel quiet kiddish playing with a 60 year old (no offense). I've really come to love this game for the adventure and the binding formed between the characters as well as players, truly connecting to this vast world is amazing, I'm glad I've gotten to play with you all.
Igneous's backstory is something you'll have to figure out on your own
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Marvarax andSora (Dragonborn) The retired fighter and WIP scholar - Glory
Brythel(Dwarf), The dwarf with a gun - survival at sea
Jaylin(Human), Paladin of Lathander's Ancient ways - The Seven Saints (Azura Claw)
Urselles(Goblin), Cleric of Eldath- The Wizard's challenge
Viclas Tyrin(Half Elf), Student of the Elven arts- Indrafatmoko's Defiance in Phlan
I did a deep dive into damage resistance and over and over I found the statement that there is no such thing as “magical damage”. There is fire and bludgeoning and acid and piercing etc. A vampire is resistant to ‘Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing from Nonmagical Attacks’ Even if a magic weapon doesn’t have pluses it is still a magic weapon and therefore does magical attacks.
You have a peaceful night at the inn and next morning you are refreshed for your day of going to garage sales looking for magic items. Or more likely, heavy use of the Investigation skill to find items of interest.
Of course you are all useless at the skill except Thar and to a lesser extent Gijigume.
I'm Chris, I'm 43 and I live in Toronto; I started playing D&D with the Basic set in 1981. I joined one of Les's play-by-email D&D games in 2003, taking over an existing half-elf sorcerer PC named "Aeliarin". Then I joined Les's 4E D&D game as a goblin sorcerer named Aeliarin. So this would make the 3rd generation of Aeliarin (not unlike the nth generation of Thar).
Tomorrow I have to get up at an ungodly hour in the morning to take my car to get it serviced. Won't be getting home until the afternoon some time so no posting until then.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thar will do some investigation for himself and other should they desire. He is seeking 2 things being an Ioun Stone of Intellect - Investigation: 23 and a Ring of Sell Storing - Investigation: 26

Well if there is an Ioun Stone to be found that roll is good enough to find it, it is very rare so that’s 1 on a d10 10 What you did find is 92 roll 1d4 on magic table I
Thar's treasure hunt is 1 items. Not so many but the items is 94
Wand of the War Mage, +2 with an starting asking price of 4000 gp. Aeliarin has the best Persuasion to do your bargaining. But as that price is already very much at the low end you’re not going to drive it down much.
You found a wizard who is retiring from the adventuring life and joining one of the Wizard Colleges as an instructor and doesn’t need that sort of wand any more.
Gijigume is content to relax in the inn. He's tempted to have a wander down to the docks for old time's sake, but leaving and getting back up to the inn is too much hassle for the moment.
Thar's treasure hunt is 1 items. Not so many but the items is 94 Ring of Three Wishes
I actually moved your roll down a couple of tables because even if the entire party sold everything they had you probably couldn't scrape up enough coin for a ring of three wishes.
If Post #5 is correct Thar would have 2,950 gp + 169 gp he already had. Call it 3,000 of his own funds to put towards the purchase so he will gratefully accept assistance for the balance of 1,000 less anything Aeliarin can talk the wizard down by.
You where also going to look for buyers for the balance of harmony and mirror of the past . They could raise a bit of the cash you need or with the mirror even a trade, it sounds like something an academic could use.

Fah'lin will give Thar what he has left if it's needed to aid in their common cause.

Arya also offers to help "How much do you need me to steal?"

(That'd make a sound trade, I'm all for hoarding too though.)

Wake up people! Who is going to help Thar, either with some money or some Persuasion. Arya can lend him 250gp.
(How much is needed?)
Fah'lin lays on the charm. (Persuasion: 26) and can contribute up to 722 gold, keeping that one lucky coin he's had for so long.
('m awake! Here's a d20. What'm I rolling for? Did we win?)
