It is about 5.30 pm (the sun will set at 7.30 pm) on the first day of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers) in the year 1491 “The Year of the Scarlet Witch” which is three years after end of the Sundering Wars.
Most of you have arrived at Red Larch over the past day; some earlier in the day and some later. You have all travelled to Red Larch for your own reasons. However stocking up on the local delicacy ‘Crumblecake” a much-maligned but hearty food useful on the trail comprised of baked turkey and wildfowl scraps, nuts, and chopped roots and greens, mixed in a chickpea mash is not one of them, as it is bland at the best of times and when badly made terrible.
Some of you (Lanoros & Redleaf, Sirahane & Cole and Thromkor & Tibold) have been travelling together, while others (Gotrek and Polly) have traveled independently.
Sirahane's and Cole’s point of view
Having travelled all day since leaving your overnight campsite somewhere on the Long Road – about 30 miles away from Red Larch you finally reach the village (see map). The day’s travel was pleasant reaching about 70 degrees F (20 degrees C) in the mid-afternoon, however there was a cold wind – gusting up to 25 mph (40 kmh) – blowing for most of the day. You could also see snow clouds forming on the hills to the northeast of Red Larch.
Having been told by a family friend of Sirahane that The Swinging Sword is the only inn worthwhile staying in in Red Larch you decide to see if it has a room for the night. The Swinging Sword Sword is the large building on the West side of the “The Long Road” just north of its intersection with ‘Kheldell Path’ and just north of the Allfaiths Shrine. You enter the Common Room whilst Tharocond and Lisis arrange for the stabling of your horses (& Cole’s mastiff) around the back. As you enter the Common Room you notice that it is full of locals talking and drinking amongst themselves.
A tallish fair-skinned woman with raven black hair (Illuskan heritage) of middle age seems to be directing the flow of food and drinks to the various customers. You also note that amongst one of the groups of particularly rugged looking travellers who are drinking heavily is a feathered humanoid (Aaraockra) playing dice. He appears to be largely dominating the conversation, telling bizarre anecdotes, mocking his fellow gamblers and occasionally muttering incomprehensibly and squawking. His feathers are whitish and he has a bright yellow crest and his eyes are glossy black when open. At one end of the bar is a largish Dwarf with an orange mohawk and his head covered in tattoos and various piercings. He is wearing an unusual set of armour that is covered in spikes and is nursing a beer just observing the room. At a table on one edge of the room a Dwarf and an Eladrin are deep in discussion. Every now and then the Dwarf whose face is framed by long unkempt white and an equally unkempt beard, and is dressed in scale mail, made from what appears to be giant lizard scales, and has a warhammer hanging from her belt looks up at the crowd in the room and mutters something under its breath. The Eladrin is the complete opposite of the Dwarf. He is tall and athletically built and dressed in deep green Scale mail trimmed in bronze and is wearing a cloak made from the leaves of trees. His face is oval with a pointed chin, and his hair apparently black but when caught in the lamplight green hues dance across it. His skin is fair but has leafy green undertones instead of olive or rosey like that if a wood or high elf.
About 60 minutes after you walk into the Common Room the door opens again and a tall lean dragonborn wearing a blue robe and carrying an ebony staff, limps into the room. He is accompanied by a tallish half-elf with extremely well-combed black hair wears clothes of a fairly high standard but relatively dull in colour. Besides a small knife at his belt he appears to be carrying no weapons.
Gotrek’s, Lanoros’s, Polly’s & Redleaf’s point of view
The door to the Common Room opens and standing in it is a female human of about medium height with silver hair (Illuskan heritage). She is dressed in fine clothes and wears two rapiers on her hips. She is accompanied by a medium sized Halfling with sandy coloured hair. His clothing while also of fine make is a little dated and worn in places.
Redleaf yells out "Either come in, or go out, but shut the blasted door you damn Civie."
Thromkor’s & Tibold's point of view

You could also see snow clouds forming on the hills to the northeast of Red Larch. During the day you could occasionally see another party of travellers in front of you. It seems that most of the party is riding horses but one member was on what appeared to be a large dog. You decided to push onto Red Larch rather than spend another night on the road. After returning your horse(s) to Thelorn’s Safe Journeys (the closest thing to a livery stable in Red Larch, you make you way to The Swinging Sword. As you enter the Common Room you see …

As the travellers enter the inn, Gotrek polishes off the rest of his ale, stands up and heads to the bar. "Right," he says to the barkeep, "I am not here to waste time and on a very important mission." Reaching into his armour, Gotrek pulls out what looks like an uninteresting lump of rock and puts it on the bar. "I am told I can find answers here, what can you tell me about this, if you don't know anything, who can give me answers?" Gotrek says the barkeep in a serious tone, not taking his eye off him.
Redleaf looks around the room with annoyance on her face. "Orange haired? No respectable dwarf would have orange hair. Have I been out of touch that long?"
She hears Lanoros ask about a drink."Anything really, it doesn't matter thanks." She says not really paying attention.
Redleaf walks over to the lady directing the flow of food and drinks. "Excuse me, lass, You look busy and I don't wanna waste any more of your time than I have to. Have you seen Teresiel the Moon Elf passing through here on the way to Goldenleaf? She woulda been with a few people I care not who they were, maybe within the last week or so? She was carrying some special seeds. Maybe you saw or heard about them?"
Redleaf slips out 3 gold pieces and hands it to her, "or maybe you know of someone that might have the information I seek?"
Sirahane frowns at the rude dwarf, but then turns Cole with a tight smile when he addresses her, "Yes, I'd like that." She looks around for a clean table with room for four and points Cole towards when she finds it before taking seat and ordering. After 15 minutes or so, Cole and Sirahane are joined by two more people (humans) that appear to be of an age with Sirahane (early twenties). The first a tall, finely dressed, man with tawny skin and brown hair. He scans the room with a pleasant smile, his eyes pausing briefly on any woman he sees. He does a double take when he gets to white haired dwarf and furrows his brow in confusion before shaking his head and heading toward Cole and Sirahane's table. A couple of steps behind him is a pale skin dark haired woman who's clothes who's eyes find Sirahane immediately and she smiles.
Before the woman takes her seat she says, "M'lady, the horses are stabled and taken care of."
Sirahane smiles, "Thank you Lisis, I ordered you the pheasant." She then indicates the seat next to her and Lisis sits.
The man grins roguishly and says, "Helm's hands, the life of a squire is tough indeed. Even after a long day's travel, I find my work is still not finished. It makes me wonder how someone as beautiful and fair as you Sira made it through the grueling trials of knighthood."
"Mostly by stabbing aggressive men with my rapiers, Tharkond." Sirahane replies with a deceptively pleasant smile and Lisis giggles demurely. Tharkond laughs and begins to reply.
Sirahane turns to Cole before Tharkond can continue his flirtations, "What information did you say you were looking in this town? Something about a delegation, correct?"
Ahh yes Cole says after a bite of stew. Yes three members of a delegation are missing “a moon elf from Silverymoon named Teresiel, a shield dwarf from Mirabar named Rhundorth, and a human noble from Waterdeep named Deseyna Majarra.”. I’ve beem sent to find them, or what happened to them as they never arrived at their appointment and now days later still have not been heard from. Most distressing!

Upon overhearing the spikey dwarf's blunt interaction with the barkeep, Polly can't stop giggling in his drunken state. He scoops up his near empty ale and begins to stumble towards the bar, wings unfolded, accidentally knocking cups off tables as he makes his approach. "Right!" He squawks, as he slams the remainder of his ale on the bar. "I too, am not here to waste time and am on a very important mission! A mission of utmost importance that is." Reaching to his behind, Polly plucks a feather- a seemingly uninteresting feather that is- from his rear and waves it in the face of the spikey dwarf and the barkeep before delicately placing it on the bar. "I am told I can find answers here, what can you tell me about this, if you don't know anything, who can give me answers?" Polly states, mocking the severity of the dwarfs tone. Within seconds Polly can't contain himself and begins rolling on the floor in laughter.
Thromkor stumps into the tavern, his head lowered as usual, and looks around the room. "Table?" he asks Tibold. Without waiting for the half-elf to reply, the dragonborn limps over to an empty table as far in a corner as possible. He sits heavily and leans his long, ebony staff against the table. A barmaid approaches another table and Thromkor catches her attention. "Something to eat and drink, please. We'll also need a room for the night."
Tibold nods at the other occupants of the tavern as he enters, smiling. He nods at Thromkor, and follows him to the table, sitting with a slight wince after the day of riding. He mutters something to Thromkor.
"Don't look, but that halfling seems to have a mission much like our own."
"Deseyna Majarra...I don't know her, but I know a little of her family. They're relatively small, they make musical instruments of a type." Sirahane responds.
"Right, but they also mine silver out of Mirabar, so they've got money." Tharkond chips in.
"Then maybe that shield dwarf was an employee of her's or a potential business partner?" Sirhane conjectures.
OOC: Polly and Gotrek I assume you've already booked a room for the night - 1 shard (SP) if you're in the common dormitory or 5 shards (SP) if you want your own room.
Lanoros
Lanoros asks the Barkeep – “Has anyone passed through on their way to the Goldenfields? Specifically an elf and some members of the Emerald Enclave?" The barkeep pours a shot for Lanoros and a mug of beer for Redleaf and says “that’ll be 3 Shards (SP) for the whisky and 4 Nibs (CP) for the beer. As to you other question sorry sir but nobody has passed through here to Goldenfields for more than a couple of tendays now.”
Gotrek
Gotrek asks Barkeep – “What can you tell me about this (plonking a piece of rock on the bar), if you don't know anything, who can give me answers?" From behind the safety of his bar, the Barkeep looks somewhat warily at Gotrek thinking to himself “that’s one scary dude.” He says somewhat tremulously “I don’t know what you mean sir, it just looks like a rock to me. Now can I get you another beer?”
Polly
After Polly pulls the ass feather out and then collapses in a fit of the giggles, the barkeep just looks at him and thinks to himself “I get all the weirdos. That ones going to have a sore head in the morning, better make sure he gets nothing but water from now on!”.
Redleaf
Redleaf asks the women directing the flow of food and drinks "Excuse me lass, You look busy and I don't wanna waste any more of your time than I have to. Have you seen an elf passing through here on the way to Goldenleaf? She would a been with a couple of sturdy guard types, maybe within the last week or so?" The woman makes the dragons (GP) disappear as if by magic. She says “nobody has passed through here to Goldenfields for more than a couple of tendays now but Brother Eardon over there (she points out a half-elf sitting at a table talking to some local) roams across this and the other small towns acting as an itinerant Priest, he may know more! Come and I will introduce you to him.” She leads Redleaf over to where Brother Eardon is sitting and says “Brother can I introduce you to (she looks at Redleaf expectantly), she is interested in any delegations passing through this way.”
Thromkor & Tibold
As Thromkor limps over to the table he passes by two locals talking quietly at a table. He overhears one of them – a shortish man with dusky skin, brown hair and blueish eyes (Tethyrian heritage) – say to the other “I’ve just bought a beautiful new illustrated book from down Womford way, pity it’s in a language I can’t read.” In response to his request for a room for the night, the barmaid goes over to the women directing the flow of food and drinks to the various customers and talks quietly to her. The woman looks up at Thromkor and Tibold smiles and says something back to the barmaid. The barmaid comes back and says “a room is 5 shards (SP) a night, meals are an extra 3 shards (SP). I’ll bring out your food and drink shortly.”
Sirahane and Cole
A few people sitting around Sirahane & Cole's table start to cough occasionally as does Lisis. You notice an odour akin to somebody smoking dope overlain with a whiff of sulphur which seems to be emanating from under your table. However, the smell soon dissipates!
Thromkor looks at the halfling Tibold indicated as the barmaid steps away from the table. When she returns, he asks her, "We've heard rumors that a delegation has gone missing somewhere in the Dessarin Valley. Do you have any information you can share?"
“Brother can I introduce you to (she looks at Redleaf expectantly), she is interested in any delegations passing through this way.”
"Redleaf, My name is Redleaf, Druid of Mirbar, Defender of The Spine of the World Mountains and the Crags."
Redleaf gives a nod to the woman. "Thank you."She says before turning back to Brother Eardon and completely ignoring the woman from that point on.
"I was wondering if you came across Teresiel the Moon Elf passing through here on the way to Goldenleaf? She woulda been with a few people I care not who they were, maybe within the last week or so? She was carrying some special seeds. Maybe you saw or heard about them?" Redleaf tries to slip the man 5 dragons. "For your troubles and travel expenses Brother."
I deleted the 8 gold so far. I'm not getting a room and didn't eat. Lanoros bought me the drink so I should be good at the moment.
Thromkor looks at the halfling Tibold indicated as the barmaid steps away from the table. When she returns, he asks her, "We've heard rumors that a delegation has gone missing somewhere in the Dessarin Valley. Do you have any information you can share?"
"I am sorry sirs but I don't know anything about a missing delegation" the barmaid says.

“The blessings of the Morninglord be upon you all. I did see a delegation from Mirabar in Beliard about two ten-days ago. I expected it to pass through Red Larch about now! I understand that one of the local shepherds, Larmon Greenboot, says he has found some new cairns up in the hills. As to that(he says looking at the 5 Dragons) no need but if you wanted to make a contribution at the Allfaiths Shrine next door I am sure it would be most welcome."

Redleaf bows to the man which she usually never does. "Thank you." She says and walks away from him. She heads back over to her table with Lanoros and says. "Let's go pointy ears. I have a lead on the seeds."
Redleaf walks over to Thromkor and Tobold, "It seems we are all looking for the same delegation, I have a lead if you wish to come. My name is Redleaf." She doesn't wait for a response and walks over to Cole's table and repeats the message and does the same to Gotrek.
Once she tells everyone she overheard she walks out the door and follows the directions that she was given.
Cole taps on Sirahanes arm to get her attention “it seems we aren’t the only ones seeking the missing delegation, those gentlemen at the other table and the one that just left. What say we see if those two would like to join us? Would you be so kind as to get their attention for me? It’s loud and I am tiny” Cole indicates to the table with Thromkor and Tobold at it.

From behind the safety of his bar, the Barkeep looks somewhat warily at Gotrek thinking to himself “that’s one scary dude.” He says somewhat tremulously “I don’t know what you mean sir, it just looks like a rock to me.

"Redleaf, My name is Redleaf, Druid of Mirbar, Defender of The Spine of the World Mountains and the Crags."
Redleaf gives a nod to the woman. "Thank you." She says before turning back to Brother Eardon and completely ignoring the woman from that point on.

As to that (he says looking at the 5 Dragons) no need but if you wanted to make a contribution at the Allfaiths Shrine next door I am sure it would be most welcome."

"That's too bad. Thank you anyways," Tibold says with a smile to put the barmaid at ease. When she leaves, he shrugs, looking at Thromkor with a wry grin.
"Well, if it were that easy, we wouldn't be here, I suppose!"
And that's all I have to say about that.
Redleaf frowns. "Thank you, Brother, I'll make that donation in your name. Can you tell me how to find this Larmon Greenboot"

"I thank you in the Morninglord's name. As to Larmon's location, at this time of the day - if he is in town - he is most likely to be in Gaelkurs a somewhat seedy place on the edge of the town. Go out of the Inn door and you will see a road running east. Follow it and where it intersects with the Larch Path you will find Gaelkurs - you can't miss it" he says.
