“Good to meet you all. We haven’t seen other ten-towners since the ferry shut down. Apologies for the surprise there, we’ve had some thieving issues lately and I took it upon myself to deal with them, much like I did back in my own adventuring days before I settled down here. Oh, that was quite the day…”
He hiccups. It’s readily apparent that if he’s not interrupted, you’ll be hearing his whole life story as he starts on a story about the town being threatened by a neighboring orc tribe years ago. The man’s still a bit drunk and is doing a lot of physical gesturing as he reminisces.
"Torvus, Torvus." ,Barnabus holds up his hands and pats the air."While that is fascinating, we have business here in Kaer - Conig that could affect the entire region. We may need your assistance. Would you take us to the Sinker and introduce us around? On the way you can tell us more about who or what's got you so jittery."
"Right right, you don't want to stand in the cold listening to me recount old stories. Come along then."
He leads you over to the tavern, explaining along the way, "The town's had some thievery troubles. no one's seen anything, really. Just the other night the lanterns at the Northern Light were stolen. Cori won't let me hear the end of it because I haven't been able to find those responsible. Not yet anyway. but worry not, I have a knack for this stuff. I'll find those and the missing goats and the pearls from Frozenfar, just you wait."
Upon arriving at Hook, Line, and Sinker, you're met with a modest tavern and a half-elf right at the door. He greets you all merrily, giving everyone (accept Trovus) a small ale on the house, pressing it into your hands if necessary. There's a small crowd gathered here, enjoying the warmth that comes from all crowding together and a bit of drink. Somebody behind the bar yells out, "Last call in 2 hours. Stick around for it if you're winning tonight!"
Barnabus surveys the patrons, looking for signs that might indicate a different agenda than the one they are presenting here. He watches in particular for body language that indicates they might be looking or waiting for someone. He listens to Torvus answer the others questions before slipping in one of his own.
"Aye, any sorts around here with the initials, S.B.?"
he does this in a low nonchalant way in order to hide their own search from anyone who might be watching them in the same manner he's checking them out.

Senushi offers a curt bow as this Torvus is the speaker of this town and offers a steadying hand to Torvus should he need it.

Morkeleb muses loudly, "Lanterns, eh? We just had a run in with some nasty dwarves who stole a lantern from us. Wonder if it's the same folk?"
Senushi askes "Was there anything special about the stolen items? Were they magical in some way?"
