Since entering the town of Northbank you've heard many rumors, mostly during your time spent at the only tavern in town; The Clansman. The most common of them are; "The haunted house just down the street has been 'lighting up' again.", "Thieves have made their way into parts of Old Northbank and the area should be avoided at night.", "There is something strange on exhibit at the zoo.", and "Joran found some Orc tracks in the hills outside of town." Having only recently made it to town you haven't had a chance to follow up on any of these rumors but your thirst for adventure has definitely peeked your interest in one or two of them.
So far your experience with Northbank has first been through rumor of a local Wizard's Guild in town and the thriving town built up around it. Upon reaching Northbank though you feel those rumors were more than a bit off. Instead of the bustling town filled with powerful wizard and magic items; you have found instead a dying town and no wizards in sight. There is the occasional tower that looks like it was built with magic, and still looks in better condition than the town around it, but there aren't any robed figures or swarms of students around as you were expecting.
What you have found so far is a talkative older woman named Isa; that relayed a chunk of local gossip to you before you even asked for it, and who insisted on walking with you for much farther than you ever would have wished. You past a few shops; at least one looked high quality; though Isa made it impossible to stop and check it out. She guided (dragged) you to the tavern before FINALLY heading off in another direction. The Clansman is surprisingly impressive; standing three stories high and appearing much older than the surrounding buildings, though made with quality and skill.
Your hopes had risen until you stepped through the door. Before you sat several townsfolk, mostly dishevelled, and all talking and drinking crudely. Some are playing darts but most are drinking, cursing, and insulting each other. The bartender, a very large and thick man, is throwing about half the insults and receiving about half the insults thrown by the town.
Shortly after you enter two older gentlemen walk in behind you, immediately trade insults with the bartender, which include his name; "Boabby", and their names "Jack and Victor". After they insult some drinks out of Boabby, they go and sit next to the grumpiest looking person you've ever seen. After trading insults they move on to their own conversion.
Looking around you first notice that the average age inside the tavern is, well, old. There are a few younger people, but even those are closer to middle age. The second thing you notice is the smell; a mix of cheap ale and cheaper food. You see a few plates of food, but you don't understand why anyone would eat them, or even buy them. Even the people who ordered the food don't look like they are enjoying it, and are taking several drinks of beer or ale for every bite they take. Boabby, who is using a dirty rag to 'wash' a mug, notices you there. "Welcome to The Clansman, order something or get out."
This adventure is for one or more players. All characters start at level one, unless there is a good enough roleplaying reason for your character to start at a higher level. Traditional starting gear, point buy for build, and when your character is submitted mention what they are doing. The first character I would like to see start at the tavern but you are not required to stay there. (Heck you can burn it down if you want to.) The rest can appear anywhere in or near town.
No alignment restrictions and, at the moment, no max player size. One or more groups can play here and PVP is available if that is what you wish. There are creatures and adventures that exist, likely above your character level; don't be afraid to run. But also don't be afraid to ask questions.
A small figure sits at one of the tables, no bigger then a hafling, she had two long strands of brown hair hanging over her shoulders, she was covered in white priestly robes the symbol of Eldath shown brightly around her neck, her head was covered by the hood of the robes but her face shown clearly, it was a goblin, a goblin with clean green skin and hazel eyes, currently ordering a, light drink nothing to strong

"Wait, are you one of them Goblins?" Boabby asks in surprise when realizing what you are. "Shouldn't you be out robbing and murdering someone? What brings you here?" You can tell that Boabby has tensed up a bit, obviously expecting a fight. The rest of the tavern gets a little quieter at the word 'Goblin".
“I’m just here for a simple drink mister, no need to worry” Urselles’s voice stays calm and sounds inviting and friendly, it’s very light but still loud enough to be heard

A man sitting alone at a table stops playing with the well past best potato still on his plate. With his Dark eyes he serves the scene beginning to surround the goblin. Pulling his traveling cloak slightly higher over grading hair, the still young man watches with vague interest.
"That'll be 68 copper." He says before pouring from a random bottle of ale into the mug in his hands. He gets the rag out a little late, and rings it out into the drink before handing it to you.
"You'll probably be needing a room to. Commons..." He motions over to a large room, past the toilet chambers, that is filled with cots and a few pieces of gear sitting next to beds. "... are 2 coppers. Private rooms..." He motions towards the stairs on the other side of the room. "... are 2 gold. What do you want?"
(If you dare to taste the ale, it is much stronger than you would prefer, and a lot dirtier.)
A tall human man enters The Clansman with an instant scrunching of his nose and a judgmental gaze thrown about at the patrons. He walks up to the bar next to a small person in white robes and .... green skin? Shaking his head and shrugging, Shalech pays no more attention to the goblin sitting there. Turning to the barkeep, Shalech gets his attention, "Northbank is not what I was expecting. Where are all the wizards? How bout you clean a mug with a clean rag and pour me a drink?"
(Urselles doesn't really notice) the goblin places a piece of silver and two gold coins onto the counter "I'll take a private room if you don't mind, and keep the change for the ale" The goblin takes a slightly sip from the mug testing it's flavor and potency

At the sound of the the word 'Wizard' Theodore casually approaches the bar just in ear shot of the conversation between tall man and the barkeep Boabby and waits patently to be served. All the while listening.
November having recently entered the tavern was already making his way to the bar when the commotion broke out. Breathing deeply he decided he would let it play out in front of him. After a few moments he has flagged the barkeep down and ordered a glass of water, "Thanks, before you go, have you heard of any of the rumors regarding this place?"
November is 6'4, brown haired with Green eyes. 1 Scar comes down his right eye.
Boabby turns towards Shalech. "There's a wizard right there." He says pointing towards the table occupied by three old men. One of them is noticeable grumpy while his companions are very jovial. The grumpy looking fellow is dressed in very plane and drab clothes; consisting of a long coat and tunic. You can't see his legs but can assume he's wearing basic breeches.
The companion to his side, referred to as Jack, is shorter but much wider than his friends; while the one referred to as Victor is much taller than his friends. They both a wearing clothes that are surprisingly fashionable... 20 years ago.
Boabby pulls out a new rag, surprisingly clean looking other than a few questionable old stains. He then spits into the mug and begins 'cleaning' it.
Hearing Urselles and seeing their coin, Boabby speaks up. "Glad to have your patronage." He tosses a random key from behind the bar to you.
Seeing Theodore come in he simply says; "Welcome to The Clansman, order something or get out."
"Another Ale for me... and his as well" Theodore says turning to Shalech. "So tell me friend, what business do you have with the wizards of Northbank?" Theodore's tone is calm and friendly towards Shalech as he pays for either ales.
Looking over at the three fellows Boabby identified, Shalech orders three drinks. While waiting for the drinks, Shalech instinctively runs his hand over a leather satchel strapped to his hip over his plain traveling clothes, then scratches at a surgical scar running down the side of his neck.
Taken aback by the attention, Shalech looked at Theodore and asked right back, "Are you their manager or something? A wizard gave me magical abilities I know nothing about, and I figure only another wizard can tell me about them. Now, can I go speak with the wizard?" Shalech looked over at Baobby again, waving three fingers with one hand, and pointing to the bar with the other.
Theodore smiles slightly "No not their manager. Lets just say I'm another interested party, you see I also have business with the wizards of Northbank. And when a man like you, with a scar like that also seems intent on dealing with them... I only wish to make sure they are in once piece once you're done." He smiles more broadly "let me help you with those glasses" with a wave of his hand and a slight verbal incantation all 5 glasses: His own, Shalech and the 3 wizards are all made clean with the use of Prestidigitation. "Good luck finding a wizard to help you". Theodore takes his drink and returns his attention to the bar.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Shalech looks Theodore up and down, gauging him.
Insight Check: 7
In response, Shalech says, "Look, what is your business with them? I'm hoping for more than a five minute conversation. And to ease your mind, I gain nothing by making several wizard pieces."
Turning his attention to Baobby again, Shalech asked, "I just want 3 drinks for the fellows at that table. How much do I owe you?"
Leaning to Theodore, Shalech whispered an apology, "No offense, but I'll drink water out of the horse trough outside before I drink what is being served here."
Boabby had just used a clean..er rag to rinse out the new mug; after first spitting in it; when suddenly it becomes cleaner than it had ever been; as well as four other mugs. Boabby looks up in surprise, and then sees the motioning for drinks. He smiles.
"You want to talk with Jack, Victor, and Dar; you'll need more than clean mugs." He bends over and light suddenly fills the room. It appears to come from a magic box. He reaches in and brings out three bottles. "Your gonna need malt whisky."
