I find that I have room to run 1 more campaign on the forums these days, so I'd like to get something going. I want just a few players, let's say 2-4, to run a short campaign. Which campaign? Well we have some options and I'm open to your input. I've rated the various options below as follows:
First # is exploration and puzzle solving, 1 is little and 3 is a lot / Second # is roleplaying, interacting with NPC's / Third # is combat, same scale / Fourth # is difficulty from 1-5. 1 means little chance of death, the puzzles are easy, heroes gonna do hero things. 3 is like Lost Mines of Phandelver. 4 means there's more of a puzzle that needs solved, more thinking and exploration, encounters may require more tactical skill, and there is higher chance of death. 5 is good chance of death if you make a wrong move. I don't think I have any 5's currently on this list.
So the ratings are Explore / RP / combat / difficulty
We can do the following:
Tending the garden : Short homebrew campaign, levels 1-3, sort of "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" adventure, big on exploration and solving a puzzle, with plenty of opportunity for random hack n slash encounters. Rating 3 / 2 / 2-3 / 3-5 (can be adjusted to player preference) .
River Boat Tour : Very short homebrew, levels 1-2, more whimsical light-hearted mood where the characters are hired hands for a river boat tour company and they must help the various customers (randomizable) with their issues while on the tour. There is a scorecard at the end of the adventure. Rating 2 / 3 / 1 / 2 .
FROZENER SICKER : My modification of the freely available Frozen Sick campaign from WOTC, which is short, levels 1-3. Rating 2 / 2 / 2 / 4 .
Pudding Faire : Very short excellently written adventure which is very fun and mostly light-hearted but with a great core story and puzzle to solve. Level 1 only (ok MAYBE we would level up to 2 depending on how things go). Rating 2 / 3 / 1 / 2 .

In your application, you don't have to roll a character yet, only express interest in one or more of these campaigns. Please clearly state which of these you'd like to run. Put them in an order of preference if you like, say which one you don't want to run, whatever you like. If you are ok with any/all of them, that's fine, but your application will not be considered if you do not name one specifically as your top choice.
I will choose the players to participate based on several nonconventional factors. Once the players and campaign are decided, then those selected can roll a character as they see fit to match that campaign, and off we'll go. We will use standard array. We start at level 1. I'm very light with graphics and maps but I am trying to incorporate them a bit more. I have made an actual dungeon map for my tending the garden campaign, for example. I'm open to all manner of content, ideas, homebrew, etc. Just clear it with me first. I think the point is to have fun and I feel flexible to accommodate some different sorts of ideas. That said, I am expecting regular (daily or at least once in less than 48 hours) posting. Infrequent posting (0-4 per week) is hard to deal with in my style of game. I will bot or remove your character if I get impatient.
Hopefully we can get a fun little game going here real soon!
I would be down to play another one with you but I understand if you prefer an experience with fresh players.
my preferences would be:
1) Garden (puzzles and combat appeal to me most) 2) Frozen (I have played the first half of the adventure already but it was canceled, and I would love to see it through) 3) Pudding and Riverboat (I should mention that I already started the Riverboat campaign with you once but we stopped at some point and I don’t know how advanced the game was at that point. However, I believe with a new random set of NPCs the game would be totally different.)

I found and read through the old posts. We had accomplished about 20% of the quest. It looks to me like engagement in the other players - not you! - had dropped off and you were the only one posting. I do tend to get discouraged when that happens and I suppose life sent us all on our way. That happens on these forums, alas. Thanks for being the one that stuck with it!
I just want to preface this by saying that im a beginner to the game but im willing to dedicate time and effort to be a fun player :)
My first preference is Tending the Garden (puzzles and exploration) and Pudding Faire is second choice
I remember how frustrating it was to “break in” to the forums, it seemed like people didn’t want to give you a chance if you didn’t have an established post count. I think people are afraid (and rightfully so, it happens a lot) that you’ll lose interest and ghost the rest of the group. But I’m willing to take a chance on you
The votes are a split between Frozener Sicker and Tending the Garden, with ties for both first and second place. I think running either one would be cool. I can't really decide. I will let fate decide. In the next post I will roll a d20.
The roll is a 5, so it will be Tending the Garden. That's fine, if all goes well then I'm sure we could do Frozener Sicker later!
Give me a little time to put some stuff together. Meanwhile you can roll up some characters.
The hook is that you are entry-level adventurers, looking to cut your teeth on some basic quests. You're all visited the guard house in your city (not important which one), where people post "adventurers wanted" requests on a notice board. The captain of the guard is pointing out to you one of the quests, says it looked like an easy one. The listing says:
"3-4 adventurers needed, clear out a small garden infestation and collect some reagents, easy well-paying job, 50 gold per person"
The captain also explains that the old man, name of Rezlin, lives on the outskirts of town and has been a fixture in the community for years as one who dabbles in alchemical magics and potions. The captain will also mention that this is not the first time the old codger has put out this listing; it comes up from time to time, and in the captain's estimation, you won't find an easier quest on these notice boards. "I'd name myself an adventurer and look into it myself," he says wryly with a shake of his head, "if I didn't have my responsibilities here."
Name: Finnan Superstes Class: Monk Race: Tabaxi - markings of a snow leopard (Male) Backstory: Grew up and worked in a gladiator arena with a group of 3 other Tabaxi's; we were amusing because we were fast and always fighting much bigger and stronger opponents. My best friend always talked about leaving and finding a life better than fighting. She was like a little sister to me and always wanted to see distant cities, try new foods, meet people we wouldn't have to fight— I had no interest, if I was with my friends I was content. It always felt like "just one more fight" until one day she died in a fight stacked against us more than usual, the owner was trying to humble my group by giving us a taste of defeat. In grief, anger, and wanting to honor my friend, I gathered what meager money she and I had made, left my friends a note, and snuck out in the middle of the night. She had a list of things she wanted to do/ see/ experience before she died; I took it with me and use it as a guide. Now, I seek the adventures she never got to have and I cross items off the list as I go. I'm consumed by the idea of "a better life" but I don't actually have a clue what that should look like.
With the Monk role taken and to start with something, I think my favourite is the Blood cleric (I can change if we find that a tank is really needed):
Name: Seraphine Bloodrune Race: Human Class: Cleric (Blood Domain), Wizard (School of Blood Magic) Backstory: Seraphine Bloodrune was born in a remote village plagued by periodic invasions and internal strife. The village near an entrance to the underdark consists of drow outcasts, refugees and exiles, which live with the constant fear that their past catches up with them. From a young age, she witnessed the suffering and death of her loved ones, driving her to seek power to protect those who couldn't defend themselves. Her innate talent for arcane magic led her to the study of blood magic, a forbidden but potent field. Later, she felt a divine calling from Kiaransalee, whose teachings on the cycles of life and death resonated with her experiences. Determined to master both the arcane and divine aspects of blood magic, Seraphine dedicated herself to Kiaransalee, blending her wizardly studies with clerical devotion. She sees herself as an agent of balance, using her powers to maintain the equilibrium between life and death, and to exact vengeance on those who upset this balance through wanton cruelty or oppression. Seraphine is driven by a desire to protect the weak and punish the wicked, restoring balance to a world she sees as deeply flawed. (Chaotic Neutral)
Backstory: With a father that he never met and a mother who met her demise at the hands of a local gang, Valerian spent most of his younger years in the streets.
This left him grasping desperately for means of survival in the desolate streets of town. Dabbling in petty crimes under the orders of various links in the criminal network or even disconnected shady mercenary groups, Valerian made enough money to survive by the day.
This continued until he caught the eye of a visiting noble, Teirna Coren and a romance unfolded. One that lasted them two years outside of watchful eyes. Merely a month before this adventure, Val found himself shunned away from her family, never to see her again after a scuffle with a local gang while accompanying Teirna's family.
It was when he spoke to her in secret after several weeks that Val tearfully confessed that he wished to live a life worthy to spend it with her and simply didn't know what to do. To this she suggested he pick up other simple jobs to replace his criminal involvements, ones that will allow him to earn money using his learnt skills and this has led him to the task at hand.
(So we are all set, right? I'm unsure if your post above was already the prompt to introduce ourselves, but I figured that it can't hurt.)
The captain of the guard points to a particularly inviting quest listing. "3-4 adventurers needed, clear out a small garden infestation and collect some reagents, easy well-paying job, 50 gold per person," it reads.
The captain explains that the old man, name of Rezlin, lives on the outskirts of town and has been a fixture in the community for years as one who dabbles in alchemical magics and potions. The captain also mention that this is not the first time the old codger has put out this listing; it comes up from time to time, and in the captain's estimation, you won't find an easier quest on these notice boards. "I'd name myself an adventurer and look into it myself," he says wryly with a shake of his head, "if I didn't have my responsibilities here."
Among the group of eager adventurers that the guard addresses is Seraphine Bloodrune. Clad in dark, polished scale mail that contrasts with her deep purple tunic, Seraphine cuts an imposing figure. Her long, wavy brown hair cascades down her shoulders, complementing her striking brown eyes that faintly glow with magical energy. She carries a blood-stained knife with determination, her expression fierce and focused. Her arms are adorned with intricate metal bracers, and she carries herself with a regal yet battle-ready demeanor. Delicate chains and belts cinch her attire, giving her a simultaneously graceful and formidable presence. Her shield, marked with the emblem of Kiaransalee, is always at the ready, and her spellbook, that she hunches over at any moment of rest and intends to fill with spells and knowledge of blood magic, is kept close by, its pages bound in black leather and crimson ink.
As she contemplates the quest, Seraphine steps forward, her brown eyes meeting the guard's with a mix of determination and curiosity. "This may be a simple task," she says, her voice steady and confident, "but even the smallest quests can lead to greater understanding and purpose. I am ready to take on this task," she declares and calls for assistance from the gathered adventurers,"Who will join me?"
[quick edit: I changed the picture last minute after I already had the post and her eyes changed from violet to brown. Apparently I missed to change the color on one occasion and this is corrected now.]
By the time the captain of the guard was addressing the rag-tag handful of people standing around the notice board, Valerian was already antsy. He had been the first one to arrive and skimmed through most of the papers clipped onto the board.
He tried not to seem too out of place as he stood further away from the board, letting others peer at the notices and listen in to what the captain had to say. The longer he stood there, the more he felt like an imposter. With his shaggy hair more combed back than usual, street clothes replaced with a common leather armour and on the lookout for a job he knew nothing about, Valerian tried not to let the nerves get the best of him.
Once he got an earshot of the guard's claim, he felt a bit more confident in agreeing to one of these adventures, it would be easy money. With less hesitation now, Valerian nods firmly and steps forward when one of them, the determined brown eyed woman asks who would join. "Count me in." He says with a smile.
It can’t hurt at all! I was just going to start you at the house for simplicity sake but interacting with the captain of the guard is fine too. We just need Angel dePrime’s character.
A tabaxi saw the message board and walked away, getting cold feet due to thinking he'd have to do any of the requests on the message board alone. He doesn't like working and being alone. When the captain addresses some others, his ear turns in the direction of the conversation. A full smile crosses his snow leopard spotted face, and he saunters up and clears his throat. "Excuse me. If you are interested in an adventure, I too...am... uh interested." He gets nervous in the middle of his sentence, thinking his sharp teeth might be scary, and closes his mouth in a tight lipped grin. Standing at a little over 5 feet tall, you see he wears a plain black tunic and pants that fit loose around the legs, the clothes look new but cheap. A ratty light blue sash is tied around his waist— matching his icy blue eyes— and a quarter staff and net are slung over his back. A small piece of his fuzzy left ear is missing, no bigger than a piece of gold, but they stand alert.
His long tail swishes in anxious anticipation, hoping these strangers could be potential friends. "Oh! I'm Finnan by the way. My friends call me Finn... you can call me Finn." He expects everyone else has done this before except him and he's not making a good first impression. Nervous, approval-seeking energy radiates from him in just about the most uncool way you can imagine, but he's certainly enthusiastic.

Quick question, any chance that we can use point buy instead of standard array?
I have a couple of characters ready for play and I would choose depending on party needs.
Once I settle for one or the other, I'll adjust their backstory and post it here.

Backstory: With a father that he never met and a mother who met her demise at the hands of a local gang, Valerian spent most of his younger years in the streets.
