After discussing tactics, Kim heads towards the inn to meet the same inn keeper. "I'm afraid we will need to keep our rooms for another night. Also, I want to order the special." She pulls out the earnings she got from there recent encounter and hands over the amount owed for all the rooms and the food. She walks over to the table the group has been occupying during their meals and waits for the others, hoping that the special for the day is rabbit.
Since it seems they are staying, and they have most of the afternoon left, Gramgran will head to the family they found at the hideout and see how they are doing.
Kim will pay up for her room and food with the earings. "Well darling, you can have anything on the menu. If its a rabbit you want, I can get you rabbit. Grilled? In a stew?"She prepares the dish and brings it over to the table.
Gramgran and Yuri knock on the door to Mirna's house. She cracks the door in a way that she could quickly close it again, but she does not. Will look at Gramgran and Yuri before looking past them hoping to see Thel. It quickly dawns on her that you have come with bad news. She falls to her knees and begins to cry. The door to her house swings halfway open. "Is it true? Is he dead? Those bastards!"
Putting her arms around her, Gramgran comforts her.
“Dearie, dearie, I know this is painful for you. Yuri, can you watch the kids while I take Mirna outside for a bit?”
If he agrees, Gramgran will go out with her and show her the patch of Thel’s shirt.
“I don’t know what to say to you right now, because your loss is too new, too fresh. All I can do is let you cry, and hope that you can find the strength to stand up and remember him as the husband you loved.”
Vah'Lhorn takes the time to stroll about and after walking the entire town noting the facilities and stores within, for he had little time to investigate it before bumping into Sildar. Vah'Lhorn will head to a temple for some quiet introspection. Hoping for guidance from his demon on what road he should now take... Having completed Sildar's request he has met his immediate goal, but the group he has hooked up with and the path they tread shows the potential to find a greater evil behind that immediate Redbrand threat.
I know not a loftier goal than to protect the meek, and bring a taste of evil to those others that would condone it, but how much further should I go? Does this Black Spider havegrander schemes that bode poorly for the entire town, or even further afield? Am I meant to pursue this thread, or find new wrongs that the meekest of people are suffering from... Demon, you steer me to your whim, so show me now where I should step my foot, set my sheild, or strike my blade!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Gramgran and Mirna leave the building, the enormity of the task before him unspools like thread from a tightly wound bobbin.
He is alone. In a strange house. With some children who need to be entertained. Yuri dry swallows, his nerves already on edge. Clasping his hands together, he begins, tries his best, gives it the old college try...

They're entertained by Yuri's hand shadow performance. You're able to show them a few tricks to make the shadows themselves. You look around and see they have very basic homemade toys.

Mirna will take the patch and hold it to her chest. "Well, it seems I have nothing left here so there is no need to stay now."She will accept your money. "I will put this to good use, I promise you. I can charter passage out of this place and back to where the rest of my family lives. Thank you.
Everyone will take a night at the inn, or their chosen sleeping areas, and awake well rested for the journey east. Gradually, the trail becomes an old, overgrown lane winding between dilapidated buildings choked in vines and brush. Ahead of you, in the middle of the settlement, rises a steep hill, upon which stands a stone tower with a partially collapsed roof and an adjoining cottage. A dirt road hugs the base of the hill and wends its way between old stone houses, many of which are roofless ruins with interiors open to the weather. Other buildings appear more or less intact. The whole place is eerily silent. A wooden sign is nailed to a post nearby. It reads: "DANGER! Plant monsters AND zombies! Turn back now!"
(I had most of this all typed up, got called away for a meeting and just now got back. With summer coming up and such, housework has me mostly taken up on the weekends. I will most likely not post much during the weekends.
Looking at the sign, Gramgran just says, “Well that doesn’t sound good,” as she pauses for a second to talk with the group. “Make sure we’re all prepared before going in. We just need to talk to one person, alright?”
“We’re Looking for the druid Reidoth. She’s supposed to know where we need to go to find Gundren. Let’s try to be quiet while we go in to town. Wouldn’t want to attract attention, like Yuri said.”

(Kim, you all rested for the evening in Phandalin before heading out to Thundertree to find the druid who supposedly knows the location where Gundren is being held. It's been about a half days travel. You all made it to the town at about noon, since you all left early.)
Many of Thundertree's buildings have crumbled in the years since the town was abandoned, even as nature threatens to swallow what remains. The train enters the town on the west side. Building 1 is the first building you all come across.
(For ease of trying to explain this later) A building in Thundertree is either ruined or intact, as shown on the map. Ruined buildings are empty shells with stone walls 5 to 8 feet high. Their roofs are gone, leaving piles of debris inside the walls. The debris is difficult terrain (see "Difficult Terrain" in the rulebook). Intact buildings are rundown, ramshackle stone cottages that are otherwise still standing. Their wooden doors are swollen and require a successful DC 10 Strength check to force open. The windows of any intact building are 2 feet wide and covered by wooden shutters containing 6-inch wide arrow slits. Dusty old furnishings such as simple wooden chairs and tables remain in most intact buildings. Trees average 30 to 40 feet tall and provide cover. Brush consists of large bushes that count as difficult terrain.
Anyone with a passive perception of 9 or higher sees two plant creatures standing by building one. They are humanoid in stature, but with a body made of tree roots. They see you but do not act hostile or move.

Yuri shields his eyes from the sun as the party gets closer to the ruined village. Looking up at the tower he had suggested taking in the last of the land from, he could swear two trees, two people, two tree...people are watching back. Nervously he raises a hand in greeting to them, going they might be friendly.
Pointing them out to the group he looks around to see if any of the others can identify them.
((OOC Thundertree seems like our best best, and Gramgran wants to go also))

Since it seems they are staying, and they have most of the afternoon left, Gramgran will head to the family they found at the hideout and see how they are doing.
If she will let him, Yuri tags along with Gramgran. Letting them know the Redbrands appear to have disbanded should be good news for them.

(OOC Thankfully entertaining children has a low DC!)
Gramgran
Looking at the sign, Gramgran just says, “Well that doesn’t sound good,” as she pauses for a second to talk with the group. “Make sure we’re all prepared before going in. We just need to talk to one person, alright?”
Yuri shrugs, the warning of the sign still looming large.
"Should we find this... Sorry, I forget the name... But whoever they are we should find them before those plant monsters or zombies find us."
Looking around at the buildings, Yuri points to the tower atop the hill. "That should be a fairly good spot to get the lay of the land."

Stealth if needed 22
Following Gramgran through the town, Yuri tries to mirror her footsteps in an attempt to move silently.

OOC - where is everyone? Are wr in a group again? I feel I'm a little lost.
OOC It's morning, we've taken a long rest and are on the road to Thundertrees to meet with a druid who knows the location of Cragmaw Castle.
