Yuri can recognize these creatures as twig blights. You have read about them, but never encountered them before. You are unsure of their intentions at this moment. The greeting from Yuri is met with a stare from the creatures.
Looking at these creatures Gramgran asks, “Should we go talk to them? They seem to be something a Druid would have around. And we do need to check the town, so maybe we can work our way through it building by building?”
Kim watching and listening to the others has decided to start walking towards the creatures. She continues at the pace she was and once she starts getting closer, slows a little more as to not come off threatening. "Hello, we are here to visit. Is there anything you can tell us about the area? We do not want to offend anyone, or accidentally cause damage to anything."

Kim, you can notice as you approach, the root structure of the blights begin to swell and the roots at the base begin to remove themselves slowly from the ground. They continue to remain moot.
They still have no answer for you. You can also note, they do not seem to have a "mouth" on their face, only two small black dots, which you assume are eyes. For now, they are not hostile toward you, but you get the feeling they are starting to feel threatened.
When Kim notices the things are getting a little restless she takes a few steps back. Hearing Yuri, she replies, "Well I just noticed they don't seem to have mouths. Maybe I can hear their thoughts though." Kimberly turns back to face the tree people and focuses on them casting Detect Thoughts on the one on her left.
Vah'Lhorn will move up level with Kim, shield at the ready. If she fails to communicate with the twiglets, then he will edge closer to them, one step at a time until they are provoked into some action.
“Kim stop. I remember these now. Twig blights are not good. They tend to attack if things get too close, so we have two options. One, we avoid them and forget about looking in that building. Two, we clear them out so no one else gets attacked.” She looks around at the group to see what they decide.
Hearing Gramgran's words, Kimberly puts both hands in front of her and slowly starts walking backwards towards the group. After 10 or 15 feet she places 1 hand behind her pack to start reading a ray of frost in case the twig blights charge her. She will attempt to continue backing up until she is equal with the group.
The group backs away slowly, not provoking an attack from the root creatures. Kim can see as the roots begin to take hold into the ground as she backs away. You all make your way back to the trail and come up to another building (building 3). This building is mostly intact. A weathered signboard by the door of this large building shows the faded image of a workhorse holding a flagon of ale. The building is sagging and dilapidated, but it is more intact than the ruins across the road.

After noticing their actions, Kim stays in place and speaks to them again, this time in goblin, "Can you understand goblin? We are here in peace."
They still have no answer for you. You can also note, they do not seem to have a "mouth" on their face, only two small black dots, which you assume are eyes. For now, they are not hostile toward you, but you get the feeling they are starting to feel threatened.

Cupping his hands over his mouth, Yuri yells to Kim,
"Did the tree umm people say anything?"
Turning to any of the group who stayed back while Kim approached, he goes back to a normal speaking level.
"Do you think I've offended then? What if they're more closely related to shrubs?"
"I think they look like kindling for later... Let us see what they do on a closer approach."

Yuri will hang back with Gramgran and follow her lead.
Has Gramgran ever heard any stories about twig blights, or what they usually act like?
History if needed 15
They are usually very dangerous and hostile. Most stories you have heard they attack when something comes into close proximity.

Yuri puts his head to the door of the dilapidated tavern, listening intently, (perception - 17).
He will then call out a hello, and push the door open from a position beside it, putting the wall between him and whatever is inside...
Yuri initially does not hear anything. When the door is opened and Yuri taking a position behind the wall, you can now hear a faint shuffling inside.
