About another 200-ft out (you already went 150' down the tunnel, so you're currently about 350-ft from the rest of the party), you come to a small chamber. This chamber has three branching paths. You can hear the sound of the machine more clearly now; it sounds like it's coming from the tunnel on farthest to the right.

"This route looks safe and there are further branches. We should go this way."
Erik thinks in response, "OK, Simon. Hey, Eppie! You could head back toward us. We're going to head down the other tunnel. And how do you feel about hiding before you get all the way back and then following us once The Hunter passes the fork in the tunnel? When we spring an ambush, you would be in charge of preventing him from running away until Toa and Pinion, for example, can surround him."
"You got it, boss." Eppie turns to head back the way she came... and stops when she catches first sight of the others at the fork. She finds a place to hide by the wall that gives her a good vantage point of the other two forks, so that hopefully, she can see when the Hunter follows the others, and tag along behind. "I'm in place. Go ahead. Take Vox IV with you."Vox IV is, in fact, still clicking along in its place in line with the others. Pyx remains wrapped around Eppie's shoulders for now.
Well, Eppie doesn't notice anything. Her Perception roll was... not very good.
Meanwhile, the Hunter rolled a 15 on his Perception check to notice Eppie... but with Reliable Talent, it becomes 23. There is currently a tie between the Hunter checking for threats, and Eppie trying to hide.
So... here's what I'll say happens:
As the party seemingly vanishes, the Hunter stalks silently behind them, disappearing into the shadows before anyone can get a good look at him. Suddenly, he stops... it seems as if he can sense that there's something wrong. But he can't tell exactly where the goblin actually is just yet.
Eppie hears a low chuckle, though it's difficult to tell exactly where the slippery feline actually is in the the winding tunnels. Somehow, though, you get the feeling that he's going to try something sooner or later rather than simply wait in a stand-off.

Eppie doesn't move, but thinks back towards the group. "I believe the Hunter may know I'm here. I heard something like a laugh. Eh, maybe a growl? I get the sense that the creature is poised to attack, but I cannot visualize him."
The Hunter draws his bow and releases an arrow. Though he can't see Eppie, he seems to know approximately where she is...
Longbow vs. Eppie: Attack: 19 (19, 29). Damage: 10 (piercing)
If the attack hits, the feline does something strange... something magical. Eppie feels what can only be described as a type of psychic "static." Eppie takes an additional 7 psychic damage and must make a Wis save (DC 15) or be blinded when it comes to anything farther than 5ft away from her as shadows fill her vision until the start of the Hunter's next turn.
He then uses his bonus action to hide. Stealth: 27 (reliable talent)
We can roll initiative if Eppie and/or the rest of the party decide to try to engage the Hunter. It would most likely take a round for the party to reach where Eppie and the Hunter are.

Erik pauses and says (out loud) to the group, "Uh oh. It didn't work. He must have spotted Eppie. Plan B? Once we spot him, we need to lock him down and surround him so that he can't just slip away and hide. I can give him a nice, obvious target if any of you can use the opening to close to him."
Erik thinks to the group, "Don't worry, Eppie! We're on our way back now."
(OOC: @Mister_Whisker - the partied carried the light with us, so both The Hunter and Eppie are in complete darkness, right? About how far beyond the fork in the tunnel is the rest of the party? We need to weigh the options of using stealth vs. dashing vs. spells or abilities that could help us engage with The Hunter.)

That would be correct, though they both have darkvision. As for how far beyond the fork the rest of the party is, I assume at least 100' out so that you wouldn't be immediately visible to the Hunter.

(OOC: OK, thanks! Erik is neither the fastest nor the quietest member of the group. Even dashing, he only moves 70 ft. / turn.)
As Erik notifies Eppie that they're coming to get her, he activates his boots and, with a low hum, hovers a few inches off the ground. As soon as the others have a chance to weigh in on plan B, Erik turns around to head back toward the fork (assuming that no one has an alternate plan).
Movement: Flying 70 ft. back toward the fork in the tunnel. Action: Dash Free Action: Talking. Flying.
(OOC: I won't track concentration round-by-round since the duration is 1 hour. If Erik doesn't lose concentration in the upcoming fight, he'll try to carry it through to their next encounter.)
(OOC: I forgot that Erik has advantage on Initiative rolls. Ignore the roll in character sheet. I was trying to remember what was giving him advantage, and I clicked the wrong thing.)
(OOC: @ZelocktheDragon, @ConstancePhokas - don't forget that Simon and Eppie still have Cat's Grace from Erik. I think that the advantage on DEX skill checks includes initiative rolls, so you get to roll initiative with advantage.)
You can keep going as far as you want. Simon's tunnel hasn't branched off as of yet, so it's still pretty easy to follow.

Not really... just more stone and ice
