(OOC: I think this one's going well enough. I've (2014) PHB, MM, DMG, and Tasha's. I also have "solo adventuere's toolkit," which can be scaled/adjusted, and can use that, to help. There's also a lot of "DM generators" that we can use, as a group, to throw in encounters, dungeons, what not. I'm also on another campaign, and as the DM has seemed to take an unfortunate hiatus, I've stepped in to DM. Did suggest a DMless campaign like this, but there didn't seem to be an interest, and since I was just getting into it, I volunteered, so I think that will fill out my PbP! ^_^ )
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"My, my," a haunting voice emanates from the Cloaker, "I was coming to check out my more finicky pets, and imagine my surprise to see that it's no longer available for play."
In the midst of the party, a fiend teleports amongst them. "I am known as Titivilus. Don't worry, as I've no interest in killing all of you, just yet. But, I think I'll have a little fun. Let's see how you all fare with Confusion." (OOC: CR 16, casting spell at 5th level, for 15 feet...Wis saving throw against spell 13 )

Innate Spellcasting. Titivilus's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 21).
Eldrin attempts a Wisdom Save DC 21 vs 8, Confusion Behavior 5
After talking with Titivilus, Eldrin leads the remaining party members back to town and treats them to free lodging and a modest meal. Eldrin discusses a quest, "To seek out Nadal the Necromancer. The rumors talk of a exiled wizard who escaped prosecution, now living in the woods. No one thought anything of it, until one day, skeletons came shambling out of the Silverwood Forest. If we were to take on this Necromancer, we will need to gear up and enter the Silverwoods with all measure of preparations. (offer withdrawn)
Edena states, "While I agree that a necromancer is bad, and if we can we should help, I do not believe I am yet ready to do so, and I have other towns to visit.
Jason: While a paladin may seek to stop evil, I also know my limits, and am not so well equipped, nor experienced, to handle such a fiend as this. Regretfully, I feel a tactile retreat is needed, until at which point, we are better ready for such a devil."
Titivilus: Ah, the brave paladin thinks highly of himself. Let's test your mettle.
Titivilus: "How humorous. One lowly paladin like yourself thinks to even stall me? I've bested much more experienced creatures than you. You barely survived this last attack, and your spell will keep you alive, for now, but you will fall. The only question is, should I finish you, or let you watch, helpless, as I end one of your allies."
Jason: "I know not what happens next, but so long as I delay you for a bit, well, mayhaps I shall have some divine intervention, to help us all escape you this day."
(OCC: For some reason, trying to use the spell tooltip wouldn't link to the heroism spell on DDB. I've gotten others to work, on other posts, so I after a few tries, I just linked it...originally, I got 20, not 15 total, dropping Jason down to 7, so I used heroism, for the extra temp hp...)

This is how I have it for a Potion.. Not sure about spells.
[/magicitem]Potion of Heroism[/magicitem]: Take the / out at the beginning.
Titivilus smiles menacingly at Jason, "Mortal, your time has come. I will obliterate you, and all of these other fools!"
The fiend looks into his eyes, and Jason feels the dark presence enter him, and he starts to feel cold, like his soul may get ripped from his body. He's not sure if the fiend can even do that, or if that's just what it's feeling like, with its direct attention on him.
Suddenly, there is a huge push from inside himself, that takes him by surprise, and sends the fiend flying back in surprise.
"Not just a Paladin in service, but a Warlock pact...with The Raven Queen, no less. You're either very blessed, or very cursed. I wasn't of a mind to such a confrontation with one such as she this day. You'd better really spend some time thanking her for her double blessings on you. For now, your life, and those of your fellow lackeys, are spared my personal attention," with that, the fiend takes off, his evil laughter filling the very air.
Jason drops to his knees, with his shield falling to the ground. It is only by grasping his spear, dug into the ground, that he's able to maintain some semblance of staying off his face, his breathing ragged, sweat trickling down his body, his mind, spinning. Slowly, though, his breathing evens out, and the world comes back into focus, and he slowly gets back to his feet, picking up his shield in the process.
"I've known of such foul existences before, but in my years, had never faced one. I'm glad I was able to delay it from trying to harm my companions. But next time, I will be even more experienced, and better equipped to deal with it. This too, will be added to my Vow of Vengeance!" and with that, Jason also makes his way back, slowly, using his spear to help support him.
Zed sits down and mutters, “well, that was anticlimactic. BACK TO TOWN WE GO!”
I'm not giving up on this campaign but while I was waiting I started my own DMless campaign and it's been going really well https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/play-by-post/206102-evergreen-hollow-5r-dmless

I'm doing both..grin. Fun in each one.
I am ok with everyone getting 750 xp for both encounters for all 6, as a bonus. If that is, ok?
