"That's how you do it, big sis,"Chaserepeats in a shrill, high-pitched voice, mimicking Scratch. Despite the mockery, it’s clear that she’s pleased by her brother's victory, as shown by her happy eyes and the playful flick of her tail. She'd smile too, but the past couple of hours have made it clear that this won’t happen anytime soon. In any case, the mockery falls flat since a loud "ACHUUUU!" follows immediately after. Sighing, the orange-furred twin asks, "Wanna try some other game, Sparkly? Your turn to choose."
They ask the Witchlight Hand and the other players at the "Bash-a-Beholder" stall about Chandler, but once again, to no avail. Since Isy, Illuwenand Lexseem to be okay and having their own fair share of fun, Chasebeckons Star once again, and is more than ready to follow her sparkling pink brother where he chooses.
Smiling, Scratch turns around, scanning the different booths, not even paying attention as Chase asks about Chandler. The male twin pauses to watch the goings on at Fold-Up Friend before pointing that way. "Let's try that one," he says, hurrying toward the game.
[While waiting for Illuwenwe can go ahead and run the game for Isyand say it happens afterwards]
Once Illuwen finishes his game Isysteps up with the next group. The Hand explains the rules as before and, in unison, the group shouts, "WHAT TIME IS IT, MISTER WITHCH?" The dummy ticks and tocks and then croaks, "7 o'clock" and turns around. [Make a Stealth Check]
[There is no way of knowing which 3 parts Lexgot correct, only that he got 3 out of 4 parts right.]
As Scratch and Chaseapproach the Fold-Up Friend booth they hear the hand call out, "Test your skills with ink and pen and make yourself a pocket friend! Everyone's a winner!"Chaseblows on her dandelion and everything remains as it was. When Scratch gives his dandelion a blow the tufts blow away and the dandelion stem glows a brighter iridescent glow. The Hand says to him, "Looks like this is your last game. What a way to end it too, come on!" She leads you two to a small table and sits you each down with a piece of parchment and grabs two quills. She holds them above the pieces of parchment and lets them go in midair where they remain floating. She then explains, "For this game you'll have to concentrate real hard on this quill before you and attempt to draw some sort of humanoid creature from your imagination. We'll start with the head, then the torso and arms, then move down to the legs. Once you're finished there will be a special surprise! Are you ready?" [For this game we will make Intelligence checks for each part you draw. Once it's determined that you've passed I will have you search the interwebs for your desired part and send it to me in a PM, but if you fail then I get to choose that part. Go ahead and make your Intelligence checks.]
Illuwen manages another 8 feet for a total of 11! Only 4 to go!
Contestant 2 finally decides to move, but trips over their feet!
Contestant 3 hears the fall and is scared to move and possibly get "gobbled up" by the dummy. Still only 8 feet to go.
Contestant 4 spends his turn getting back to his feet.
Contestant 5 sneaks up 5 more feet for a total of 6 feet. Only 9 feet to go!
Chaseconcentrates as hard as she possibly can on the quill in front of her and it begins to move! Drawing and drawing the quill does not stop first the head, then the torso and arms, then the legs. Almost finished... [Choose a head and PM it to me]
"Aw!" Scratch moans as his dandelion's tufts float away. He looks around briefly, wishing he could play more, but sighs and steps forward to do his best in his last game.
"Ohhh...", Chasewhispers says softly when she sees Scratch's dandelion tufts float away. But her attention is quickly drawn to their new game, and her mouth drops open in awe as the lady in charge of the stall makes the two quills float. The young girl is so enraptured that she barely listens to the instructions, and by the time she snaps out of it, Scratch is already painting, while she hasn’t even begun to think of what to draw! "What to paint, what to paint!" she wonders, her dual-colored eyes scanning the area for inspiration. "Ah! I know!" Chase exclaims, and begins to paint.
She sneezes a couple of times as she works. "Stupid beholder....", she mutters, her tongue sticking out as she tries to bring the image she has on her mind to life.
Isymanages to creep up 5 feet! Only 10 left to go.
Contestant 2 starts to go, but hesitates as Isyquietly bolts forward.
Contestant 3 gets the jump on you and manages to go 9 feet! Only 6 left!
Contestant 4 moves right alongside Contestant 3 and manages 9 feet also!
Contestant 5 stumbles to a knee and realizes his shoes are untied!
Scratch maintains near perfect control of his quill and manages to draw exactly what he envisioned! [Please post a photo of your Fold-Up Friend]
Chaseon the other hand, seems to be thrown off by her incessant sneezing and only manages to maintain full control while drawing the head. As she loses a bit of control the quill takes over and draws something whimsical of it's own. Finally, the Fold-Up Friend is finished...
"Do—ACHUUU—Grrrr. Done!"Chaseexclaims excitedly. She turns to Scratch and points to the drawing as it slowly starts coming to life. "Look, I drew Juniper!" She glances back at it, her excitement fading into mild confusion. "...Uhm, kind of? Not sure why it's wearing a tutu. I hate tutus. Tutus are stupid."
Disclaimer: I loved the tutu. Made me laugh so hard x'D
"And... horse legs?"Chase looks at the quill as if asking it, "Why did you draw that when I was thinking about Juni, silly quill?" Still, the Tabaxi finds it rather fun watching the strange part-owlbear, part-ballerina, part-horse creature walk around the table.
When Scratch elbows her, she glances at the depiction of their uncle, clearly impressed. "Wow, you nailed him! He looks like he's about to search his pockets and hand out sweets. Aw... I miss Uncle Ignatius. And Mum, Dad, and the little ones."Her expression turns serious. "Scratch, how long have we been here?" She looks toward Lex, Isy, and Illuwen, who are still having fun at their own games, then looks again at Scratch. "Isn't it time we went back home?" Without waiting for her brother to answer, Chase asks the Whitchlight Hand next to them, "Excuse me. What time is it? What time does the carnival close?"
Unfortunately, Isygot ahead of herself a little bit and took a misstep... [Make a Dex saving throw]
Round 3
Illuwenalmost trips right in front of the dummy, but manages to catch himself before making a clatter. He doesn't manage to make it any further, still has 4 feet to go.
Contestant 2 spends his turn getting back to his feet.
Contestant 3 manages to move 3 feet. He's hot on Illuwen'sheels with only 5 feet to go!
Contestant 4 doesn't manage to move after Illuwen'snear fall causes him to hesitate.
Contestant 5 sneaks up another 3 feet. With only 6 feet to go it looks like we're going to have a close one!
As Scratch and Chase finish up with their drawings the pieces of parchment float from the table and fold themselves like origami into the shapes of the creatures drawn on them and, as if by magic, come to life before their very eyes. The Hand looks at the twins and says, "Congratulations! You have made yourselves some Fold-Up Friends. These little guys are yours to keep but remember to take very good care of them. They're still technically parchment." [While this cut-out parchment character is within 5 feet of you, you can command it to walk, play, dance, or follow you. The Fold-Up Friend cannot take actions and cannot manipulate objects. It has AC12 and 1 hit point]
[By the way, I have made all of these magic items in the homebrew creator, and they should be accessible to add to your inventory. If you have any problems adding them, let me know.]
"It's currently about 2 hours past dusk and the carnival stays open for 8 hours, closing just before dawn." As the hand answers your question, you recall that when Juniper took off running from you it was nearing the darker stage of twilight. As you come to this realization you see Dirla emerge from Candlefoot's caravan. Star sees her mother and takes off to greet her. As she approaches you she says, "Looks like you children are finally enjoying yourselves. So, I spoke to Candlefoot and he now understands the situation. He is more than willing to let you all visit and play with Juniper during his story time. But you will still need to pay the cost. He said that if he just let you in to listen without paying then the other children would get jealous and he could get in trouble with the bosses. Now, I was able to talk him down to 2 prizes instead of 3 so that should make things a little better. He also told me that he had already sent for Mister Witch and Mister Light when he originally spotted you children, and they should be here any moment. If I had to guess, I would say you might have enough time to finish the games you're playing and maybe play one more before sitting down for Candlefoot's Story Hour. By that time the bosses should be here, and we can have a little discussion with them. Now hurry along and tell your friends. Quickly, quickly!" With one of her many tails she lightly guides you two on towards the other children. "By the way, thank you for taking care of my little girl. It seems like she had fun with you children."
Scratch lowers one of his giant hands to the table's edge. "Come on," he says to his little paper Uncle Ignatius. He doesn't appear to feel the same worry about being out after dark. After the little paper tabaxi walks onto Scratch's giant palm, the purple tabaxi lifts his hand up to eye level and grins. "Dance," he whispers.
"That's how you do it, big sis," Chase repeats in a shrill, high-pitched voice, mimicking Scratch.
