Tesco wakes up feeling refreshed and heads back to the quest board, Encounter Table 101, 15. Grabbing a bounty for more monster parts, he travels 12 hours to the Silverwoods where he sets up camp with guidance, Survival 23, and by the light of the morning will set the stealth DC 19 for a stealthy approach.

Round 0 Tesco has surprised the zombie at default distance of 30 feet. He casts shillelagh on his club and moves to attack in melee. Tesco targets Z1, shillelagh Attack: 11 Damage: 4 force damage.
Z1 takes 10 damage and then takes 10 more. Z1 has been reduced to 0 hitpoints when undead fortitude kicks in,
Undead Fortitude. If damage reduces the zombie to 0 Hit Points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 plus the damage taken unless the damage is Radiant or from a Critical Hit. On a successful save, the zombie drops to 1 Hit Point instead.
Tesco starts picking the zombie's skull, so that he can extract the brain, and once complete, places it in his wet sack. "Yuck!" Tesco exclaims out loud.
Tesco returns to town to collect 10 gp for one zombie brain. "He Varnak, what will you do with a zombie brain." Varnak stops and looks back at Tesco and just yawns and returns to his basket and pulley.
Zombie Rewards 1x zombie brain 50 XP (total 250 XP)
Leif Aulderoot retrieves the weapons from the skeletons as well as a collection on skull pieces which after a few uses of mending are presentable. He slowly makes his way back to town adjusting to his injury…
He locates the source, Varnnak a grumpy old wizard who lives in a tree house, from whom he is paid 20 gp for 2x skeleton skulls.
Then he wanders over to Evelyn's Magic Shop to sell the undead’s loot. 2x shortbows sell for 25 gp and 2x shortswords sell for 10 gp. Evelyn won't buy arrows or other ammunition, so Leif keeps them for another day.
He returns to his modest room at the inn, which is paid for through the week (3 more nights) He hunkers down for a long recuperation.

Eating three rations along the way, Tesco arrives at the Grove and has a comfortable mean (2 sp). He talks with the other patrons, telling stories of the Demon Cave and the undead in the Silverwood. He specifically asks if there are any other quests or challenges, where an adventurer can cut his teeth.
Liam the Tavern Keeper says, "Aye, caravans are supposed to take the King's Road, just south of here. Safe enough, they send patrols and recruits on that path, to and from all the cities and outposts. But if you're coming from the castle, the most direct path is through the Badlands. There is a gulch called Deadman's Canyon. It's a dangerous route but it can be faster by about a day. You'd be doing us and the Kingdom a service if you ever found the courage to patrol through that gulch."

Tesco stays the night and in the morning (3 nights paid for remain). He looks at the Quest Bounties and finds Encounter Table 102 4
Varnak enters the Grove and approaches Tesco, "Slaads are a fascinating creature. You know they closely resemble amphibians, spawning rather than laying eggs. I need a couple slaad tadpoles if you can manage. I know that the Demon Cave is a far trek, but if you enter it and go deep inside, there you may find a demon spawning pool. How it got to our realm, that question is for another time. Go in the Cave, see if you can't grab be two slaad tadpoles, I can give you 10 gp a head. If there are more, I might be able to pay for up to four."
With that Varnak leaves the Grove and disappears in the streets.
Tesco leaves, heading east, camps for the night when it gets dark and eats a couple more rations (4 rations remaining). When day breaks he gets to the Cave, just in time to enter it's darkness. He lights a torch, illuminating the otherworldly tunnel.
Unable to approach stealthy, due to the light source, Tesco will use the default approach 30 feet from the spawning pool.

Location: Deadman's Canyon Heading south will lead you to the King's Road, but it takes nearly three days to reach Sapphire City, and then another two days west to the Capital. This extended travel cuts into merchant profits, so some caravans veer off the King’s Road and through the Badlands. This route takes you through a dangerous gulch known as Deadman’s Canyon, where thieves and bandits are known to lurk. Liam Stonehand has posted bounties on the bodies of outlaws who plague the caravans. He offers his own wagon and two horses to anyone willing to make the two-day journey to Deadman’s Canyon and return with the bodies for a reward.
New location for 2nd level characters or very daring 1st level characters. You get a wagon and two horses, so that you can arrive at the canyon quickly but also so you can haul all the bodies back to Evergreen Hollow. I'm using a notation like this 201 refers to 2nd level and encounter chart #01. I hope to have at least three charts per level.
Encounters Location: The Silverwood Forest There is currently one location outside of town—the Silverwood Forest, which lies to the east of the Darkwood Forest. The journey to the Silverwood is a 12-hour trek on foot. While the Darkwood is enchanted and full of fey creatures, the Silverwood is shadowy and filled with illusions. Once an Elven burial ground, it is now home to corrupted and evil creatures. The first encounter table takes place in the Silverwood, but players can retreat back to the safety of the Darkwood if needed.
If you're looking for a challenge, "just a bit." Eyes on Table 103. We have two locations for 1st level characters with a variety of enemies. All 1st level tables are PHB 2024 and so is Table 103. I'm calling this a challenge because unlike Table 101 and 102, we've got encounters with double the XP budget, not that we needed to make it harder, but I was hoping to attract some power gamers, to show us how it's done. The top two encounters are single shot from 0 XP to 2nd level, so that's way over deadly.
If I haven't mentioned this before, everyone can cherry pick their encounters if they like. The rolling is just for those hardcore players who want to live and die by the dice. Happy rolling, I hope everyone is having fun.
