Our story begins in the town of Callum at the Puckered Pig tavern. Callum is a Hulven town, but is the nearest town to the gnomish settlement of Parslen and thus has a sizeable gnomish population. It is early summer but the season has wasted no time mustering its strength. The heat over the past week has been unbearably hot, and today has been no different. The inn is crowded with sweaty patrons, doing their best to purchase some respite from the heat with beer altogether too warm for the task. A hulven woman with long curly brown hair, wearing a green dress and a cream colored bodice sits on a chair upon a small stage playing a lute and singing a song with somewhat peculiar lyrics.
What is the party doing? Are you all on your own, do some of you know each other and are sitting together?
Du'Hast is definitely thirsty and an ale, even a warm one, sounds good about now. He knows he will get stared at entering the bar but with all the issues he has feeling uncomfortable is the least of his worries. Du'Hast orders a round for the group members that are entering the bar and tries to find a seat or table close to stage and actively listens to the hulven women's song.
(This is assuming we already know eachother, if we don't I car re-work)
I accept the food from Du'Hast as I begin to set my papers, ink, and quill on the table. I cast light on a small statuette of a halfling and set it up so it sheds light onto the papers. I continually cast mage hand to feed me as I am writing on my papers in a script that most wouldn't understand (Celestial). The other characters can also occasionally hear my muttering to myself in the same language.
EDIT (OOC) : My drow is no longer called "Jerron Halberd". He is now Karas Incanni. He is a pirate, is 28 years old, and an agnostic.
Karas is sitting in the far corner of the tavern. His normally calm composure has given way to a frustrated and angry being inside. His face is dripping with sweat and he is (to no avail) trying to ward off the heat by briskly fanning his face with a small fan he bought a few days ago. He scowls and motions for the barmaid to bring him a glass of cold beer.
The service is a bit slow due to crowding, and the beer not nearly so cold as anyone might like, but the staff is pleasant enough if a bit overwhelmed.
(I'll wait for Bris to check in, then get things moving.)
Du'Hast hears the following as he actively tunes into the woman's song.
The men toil hard with their work ‘til the night,
Their wives prepare the evening meal,
(The woman briefly sighs and looks slightly irritated at that line)
When the nobles come ‘round with a tax or a fight,
They’re too rich to work, so they steal!
Who will stand up for the common man’s right?
There’s only one hero that real!
It’s Chaz! Chaz! He fights with vigor and always has!
He knocks the rich off their ivory towers!
He stands up to villains with arcane powers!
He’s your hero and biggest fan!
The champion of the common man!
When evil Lord Owin grew wicked and cruel,
Good Chaz could not disregard.
He saw honest folk eating nothing but gruel,
While Owin ate suckling pigs, charred!
He freed every peasant from tyrannical rule,
And Owin was feathered and tarred!
It’s Chaz! Chaz! He fights with honor and always has!
He knocks the rich off their ivory towers!
He stands up to villains with arcane powers!
He’s your hero and biggest fan!
The champion of the common man!
So, if beasties are eating up all of your sheep
Or the bourgeois’ bleeding you dry
There’s one man who’ll hear your desperate peep,
And he’s no god up in the sky!
So, send word, call out if you’re in too deep
He’ll help you and bake you a pie!
It’s Chaz! Chaz! He fights with bravery and always has!
Karas gets impatient. He stands up, and interrupts the singing woman with a shove and strides up to the bar. He immediately motions for the bartender. As the bartender comes, he (in a very menacing way) whispers that he would like a glass of cold vodka, and he would like it now. (I make an intimidate check. Also take into consideration Karas' twin knives at his sides, sharpened and ready for a fight.)
I see Karas shove the singer and stand up and walk up to him. I put my hand on his shoulder and say "No need to be rude my friend. As you can see, this place is quite busy and the woman is only doing her job."
Karas nods. He understands and returns to his chair. He reluctantly drinks the warm beer and his face undergoes an "interesting" transformation as he struggles to drink his ale. Without ice. (Lol poor Karas.)
Du'Hast stands and sincerely apologizes to the singer for the interruption then looks Karas's way shaking his head and expecting trouble. If things don't escalate, I compliment the singer on her song and ask her about the hero and villian of the story.
I tell the barkeep "Don't mind him. The heat is just getting to him. The ale is quite warm and a nice cold one will keep things, how shall I say this... cool, with him." As I motion over to Karas and wink at the barkeep.
The singer thanks you and sighs, "I've had worse, hazard of the job entertaining drunks." She then gives an even bigger sigh, "I'm glad you liked the song, it has numerous problems in my professional opinion. But I owed Chaz a favor and he requested I help write a song about him and perform it regularly. He is an old friend of mine, he's become something of a folk hero lately, though I'm not entirely sure how he's been managing to do so without getting himself killed... Chaz is... well... you'll see if you ever meet him."
The Bartender grunts, giving an unhappy but somewhat sympathetic look. "I can understand, the heat is getting to all of us. I'd love to be serving cold drinks, but we ain't got no wizard on hand to chill the brew for us. If you can find one by all means, till then we'll have to make do."
Karas gets a few confused looks, along with a couple of good-riddance glances as he charges out the door.
I tell the barkeep "I may know a man that could help you out with that but he'll probably need some recompense for it."
I walk over to Wilrick and take a glance at his work before telling him "The barkeep is looking for help, maybe you could help him out with a cold spell, he may be willing to pay us for the services."
Du'Hast introduces himself to the singer and asks if she would like a drink and directs her to sit down to talk further. So this Chaz friend of yours is he still saving the down trodden from the Owin's of the world? Just wondering if the song has a bit more truth hidden behind the scenes (flashing friendly smile but nothing to forward). Sounds like someone I would not mind meeting.
Karas walks back in with a relieved expression. He strides up to his seat and sits there like nothing happened. After a minute of just looking into oblivion, he pulls out a cigarette and proceeds to light it.

(Talizar I was hoping the same thing; I posted something similar in the other thread)
(I saw that post after I posted here so I'm assuming we know each other as well. I'm sitting at a seperate table like an overwatch.)
