The wizard claps delightedly for a moment at your awkward giggle. "Oh yes, where are my manners, my name is Armin Frostweaver!" He says with great excitement, "And this is my assistant, Tilla Ev..Ever... uh, Evernoodle!"
Tilla sighs and corrects him with a note of frustration, "Evernore."
Armin then gestures at her and she sighs again takes off her bag and reaches into it to produce a map of the kingdom. "The cave we need purged of undead is here," pointing to a spot on the map about 30 miles west of Callum.
Armin looks a bit confused, "Why wouldn't you be? I know they're a bit slimy and smelly sometimes, but they still have a sort of cuddliness about them!" Tilla groans. Armin then stokes his chin thoughtfully for a few moments. "Essentially it has to do with the ley line convergence around the cave. The undead are gently pulled towards such intersections."
Thia pops out of her chair and skips over in time to see where the wizard points. She is thankful it is only in the hills, not in the mountains to the west. Going too far that way led to a lot of weird tales and even stranger disappearance stories. Not that she believed half of what she heard about what could happen going beyond those mountains.
"So which thing interests you more, undead or ley lines? I'm guessing the ley line convergence (this word comes out with a slight slur of effort) since you want the cuddly undead disposed of. I'm guessing that location is remote enough in the wrong direction that magic types like you haven't really explored for ley lines before there or is it new?"
If asked anything deeper on these topics other than simple answers to her curiosity, her eyes might cross. She smiles up at the wizard in a way that will portray more the image of a child rather than an adult. Maybe it is the larger than normal looking eyes and the slight off look to one side of her face seeming to droop ever so slightly. If one looks hard enough, the edge of a scar peaks out of the edge of her hair near the temple on that side.
((for readers and fellow players - she is maybe a102 pounds soaking wet and 4'10 inches with dirty blonde hair and large green eyes. Her ears are pointed prominently showing that the wood elf side of her Hulven nature is the stronger.))
DuHast attempts to apologize for upsetting Cordellia (Persuasion rolled 10) and motions for her continue playing. Duhast politely excuses himself from the table (not sure if anyone else is sitting there) and moves to where the group is discussing the future mission with Armin Frostweaver.
After introducing himself and getting filled in (by reading the above comments) DuHast asks both Armin and Tilla if there is somewhere a bit more private where we can discuss the details.
Items that I think the group would like to know:
What type of undead might we encounter?
Can we get a copy of the map your currently displaying for ease of travel (my background is Outlander)?
How long will it take to get there?
Has anyone else been asked to go on this mission?
Has this happened before?
What proof do we need to bring back that mission was completed?
Does the compensation for going on the mission also include horses/rations/feed for the trip?
What other creatures and or groups might we encounter on our way to this cave?
Karas rubs his hands in anticipation. He has dealt with undead before while battling a ghost pirate ship and decides he likes destroying them slightly less than killing people. Oh, and loot.
Thia gives DuHast a radiant grin, but doesn't say anything else in case it winds up interrupting the wizard from making an answer or DuHast to take over the real organizing of this adventure. Bounces some as she waits.

Armin looks at Thia thoughtfully, "The Ley lines are indeed our interest. It is my opinion they are understudied and unappreciated for their potential contributions to understanding magic theory. I'm not sure why they're not studied more often."
In response to Duhast:
"When we scouted out before looked like some fairly weak skeletons and zombies, though our accounting was by no means thorough."
Armin gets a small frown, "I suppose you can borrow my map if you promise to be very careful with it."
Armin shrugs. Tilla chips in, "Probably about 10 hours walking if you're fit enough to walk up hill at a decent pace."
"We asked everyone here if they were interested in going, you all seem to be the only interested ones. But that's why you're the best ones!"
"Undead gathering around leyline sights, it is prone to happening. Oh, that may be why they're not studied terribly often, " getting a look of minor epiphany and turning to face Thia as he tells he says the last bit..
"Oh we'll be along not long after you to check it. If you could take care of the bodies... that would be appreciated, I'd rather not have to look at them." Armin looks sad.
Armin looks contemplative at this question, but Tilla speaks first, "75 Gold should be more than ample reward for this work even taking out the cost of supplies."
Armin looks clueless in regards to this question, but Till answers it rather authoritatively, "Wolves and bears sometimes roam those lands, that should be the most dangerous wildlife you might encounter. Orc raiders sometimes are in the area, but I have heard they've moved farther south and higher into the mountains to escape the heat for the most part."
DuHast states that if the entire group is in agreement (looks to each person expecting a nod of yes or no) we will start at dawn tomorrow (looking at Armin and Tilla for confirmation). I would like to get the caves while we still have light because I am sure the undead will be more active when the sun sets.
If we still have time this day we could begin gathering supplies (if they standard equipment is not enough).
DuHast assigns some tasks to the team if we are all in agreement:
Thai: Since your cleric see if you can research anything about the undead we might encounter (general info and possible weaknesses)
Wilrick: See if you can help Thai since you seem wizardly like and might have some spells to assist.
Me: I plan on copying the map since we only have one copy and leave the master map with Armin & Tilla
Karas and Kalkano: If you would not mind, please gather any supplies the group might need (not sure if needed)
Everyone please get some sleep for tomorrow early we strike out on are very first team mission (good rest and good luck)
In response to Du'Hast, Karas nods straight away in disappears in a flash. He is buying - sturdy boots for everyone, cigarettes, prepacked food, cold water bottles, magical cooling packs, towels, telescopes, and alchemist's fire (for dealing with the zombies).
((LOL I think he comes back with warm water in skins and dry rations, but no magickal cooling things as the price will be high due to demand of the rich. ;) At least the character is well intentioned in making this adventure a success. I would like to see what the DM actually lets you find for our poor first time adventurers.))
Thia stops bouncing. "Thank you for answering all the questions. The undead liking ley line areas does make sense to keep the studious away."
The only time she is not smiling is when orc raiders are mentioned, but she quickly puts on her happy face again after a memory is cleared away though it was more knowing it happened rather than actually seeing the memory.
She looks up at DuHast. "I'm not ready to learn about turning undead. But don't try to hit skeleton's with arrows, bludgeon them. Not sure, but I think zombies can be hurt efficiently with arrows. Bludgeoning weapons would put them down "gently" as it would put them out of their misery quicker probably." The last is added more for Armin's benefit. "We can do a proper pyre for the remains so any of the good souls that were once attached to the bodies get some rest, too." This is added more as an afterthought.
She pauses a moment. "As for spells. I heal you." She does have a cantrip that might help, but decides not to mention it since she isn't sure at the moment how well it will work and talking about flaming undead walking around might not be a good idea at this point.

(Zombies are also vulnerable to fire. Also skeletons fall quickly to a mace (VULNERABILITY) or a staff. It would be wise to bring ..... CANNON BALLS YEEHAW. Jk, but zombies can be hurt equally by everything except for poison or negative energy. It would be useful to bring healing spells.) Karas also buys some cheap clubs and hammers as well as a few scrolls of cure wounds.
The shops are closed for the evening. But in the morning you can quickly stop at a general store in town that will sell you any item on the weapons and adventuring gear table on pages 149 & 150 of the PHB that's 25 gold or less. With the exception of a single flask of alchemists fire kept carefully locked up in the back. Otherwise the party may shop freely with however much money of their starting money they have remaining on them.
((Thia wouldn't mind watching zombie torches. She just isn't going to mention such a thing in front of Armin. LOL! Might have to watch her with fire. She is a good person, but definitely can be randomly chaotic. ;) She is thinking of using a little Sacred Flame on any zombies she finds though it would char some bony beings, too. And the IC wording of her not being sure how well it will work on undead is because she hasn't had the chance to try it ... yet!))
((Started Thia with a explorer's pack (10 rations) and pulled in her other things around that because she is not the type of cleric to use all that cleric pack stuff. ::chuckles::))

Bought: Leather, dual shortswords (upgrades from knives), a whetstone (for my blades), a signal whistle, some soap, a hempen rope, a tinderbox, 30 days worth of rations, a mess kit, and two two-person tents (someone has to sleep out in the cold) and a hooded lantern, a flask of oil, and a pack as well.
DuHast is good on rations since he has an explorer's pack. Also I check my weapons and gear and make sure everything is in order. Before we turn in I try to leave a tip for Cordellia if she has a tip jar available (1sp).
(With the outlander background was I able to make a copy of Armin's map for our trip?)
