Norberos looks at Aymar “Hmm at my age all yer faces looks the same, but I never forget a name err no wait I have that backwards. I never forget a face but yer names. Yer that young druid I met in the woods. You were chitterin with some squirrels trying to find a golden acorn…no no gilded feather….ah barnacles that’s not it. Ah ha! We met in the grove, yes? I helped you tend to some sick animals. You allowed me to stay for a night or two, yes?” Norb will walk with Aymar if he can keep pace with them
“Yes!” Aymar says excitedly. “I’m surprised you remembered. I’m glad to see a familiar face in all this madness. I’m worried about my village but whatever this is” he gestures back to the giant being. “needs my attention more now.”
As you return to the castle, a tired, no-nonsense woman greets you and says, “The mayor is waiting to see you,” and leads you up a set of stairs to a large door with a huge stone knocker that looks like a beautifully beautifully sculpted cerebrus battling a Dwarf warrior with a massive axe. As you enter, you see an empty desk sitting in a mostly bare room, with the exception of a stone statue sculpted with exquisite skill and prowess. The statue depicts a dragon. A man- no a dwarf, hops up onto the desk from where you couldn’t see him. “Hail heroes” he says tiredly. “Tell me of the man.”
I step up to the dwarf mayor standing in his desk and stare down at him. “We were hoping you would tell us. What do you know about a giant man named Sol? In fact, we need information on more than just 1 man, do you know of a tall scary looking man that works or frequently visits the temple?” Then I scratch my chin as if I’m not sure I should say the next part, but then decide to do it anyway. “And is that door knocker a real depiction of you or just artistic license?”
15 Intimidation or 0 Persuasion - your choice on which would be most applicable (yes 0 lol! Rolled a nat 1 - 1)
“ I can’t tell you about that man, it not be mine place, but the head priest of the temple might be able to tell you more. He seems to be a tall and understandably scary fellow, so all roads might lead to him. Regardless, I need some people to go investigate the ruins, and you folk seem as good as any. I can offer you 50 gold pieces per person as a reward, plus you can keep anything you may find. You can leave tomorrow, but for now make your way to the temple and report what you find there.”
I grin and think to myself "I never thought I'd be taking the town's coin above the table." Going along with this group sounds like easy coin, and surrounding myself with big meat shields is probably the safest bet. But I know these heroic types. All muscle, no brains, and I know none of them will ask what I want to know. "How much of that 50 gold is up front? We're going to need provisions for the travel."
Tharra Quofinas
I hear someone talking about home and it makes me worry a moment of my own grove. But the whole reason I was sent here for supplies was because I wasn't essential to defend the land right now. I'm sure they can handle it. But I nod at the dwarfs' suggestion. Checking out the temple first, then the giant sounds smart to me.
Aymar remembers his village and his purpose for coming here…but some extra gold for supplies couldn’t hurt, and besides, whatever this large being is, it could pose a threat to his people and Aymar needs to see this through.
Aymar quitly goes along with the group, observing the strange new company he finds himself with. “At least I won’t be alone in preserving the natural order.” He thinks to himself, realizing there is not one, but two other Druids among them.
Zinlynn stands in the back of the group - she had never actually been IN the mayor's office before! She had seen him from a distance during feast-day proclamations, of course, but she wasn't important or notorious enough to have ever talked with him. But it seems her thread was being woven in with this group of mis-matched adventurers.
"Come, I'll show you where the temple is. I haven't been inside of it for years, though, so I don't know the head priest..." she says to the group when they are done with the mayor.
Norberos had gotten there just as the mayor said his piece and everyone turned around to leave "This back and forth back and forth is for the birds....he grumbles to no one in particular." He sighs and follows along heading to the temple it seems. "These young folk are always in a rush"
(OOC: Making an assumption we did some introductions at the mayor's office and now know everyone's names)
I nod my head understanding. Clearly this man was a great warrior if what he said about the door knocker was true, and an axe wielder like himself to boot! He deserves respect, but maybe not if he gave up his axe to be a politician. An axe deserves to be swung, to be bloodied. I stand straight to my maximum height, towering over they mayor, . "Unam brings up a good point, we will need supplies and provisions to complete the task you set us. I also want to discuss with you about your axe; if what you say is true and you are a great axman then you know it is akin to blasphemy to let such a noble weapon go to waste sitting on a shelf to rust. To rid yourself of this burden I will honor your axe in your name and take it into battle once more! What say you?" (attempting to gain possession of the axe) Intimidation 21

“Aye, you may take it, if you can return with information on this giant. If you all can go there and back, and attain info at the same time while stayin’ alive? Ya’ll will get a little magical reward too.” He winks and shoos you out of the office.
Korath offers a curt nod, appreciating the dwarf's straightforwardness. The promise of a magical reward, in addition to the gold, adds a new layer of intrigue, but Korath's mind remains on the task at hand—discovering the truth behind the fallen giant.
As they step out into the hallway, Korath glances at the others. "It seems we’re headed to the temple first. Keep your guard up. If this priest truly knows more, he could be plotting something."

Gurog is the same. Drawn to the crash but distance and responsibility make him do the mayor too
(We're trying to do you, the DM, a favor by not splitting the party =)
Love God. Love Others. Any Questions?
(Ooc) agreed, don’t wanna split the party. Heading to the mayors for Aymar
“Yes!” Aymar says excitedly. “I’m surprised you remembered. I’m glad to see a familiar face in all this madness. I’m worried about my village but whatever this is” he gestures back to the giant being. “needs my attention more now.”

“The door be the depiction of my battle, yes giantkin.”

Korath listens intently to the dwarf's words, trying to gauge the Mayor's truthfulness and intentions.
Insight: 17.
As the group leaves the mayor's office Rich will nod at the mayor and follow the group out to the temple.

The mayor seems to be telling the truth, and his only intentions are to keep the city safe.
“Aye, you may take it, if you can return with information on this giant. If you all can go there and back, and attain info at the same time while stayin’ alive? Ya’ll will get a little magical reward too.” He winks and shoos you out of the office.

Hearing this, I hurry from the office eager to get to the temple and find out more about the events happening.
