"Not much of a negotiator myself." Sylnache shrugged "Can't think of anything to buy for the trip either. I'll join you in case I spot something useful." With that settled, and her dessert finished, Sylnache stood up and gathered her things, ready to head out.
Tyr is struck by Fjörn's speech, falling silent and frowning to himself as Umbriel and Sylnache respond, An inspiration, eh? I really am getting old. Tyr will gently clap Fjörn on the shoulder, intentionally avoiding the man's allusions to the time before the Skyfire and forcing a casual tone, "You're doing good work. We can talk about a record later, once this business is cleared up,"He waves at the malachite sticks as Jorge distributes them.
Tyr accepts the information scroll from Jorge and acknowledges Umbriel and Sylnache's words, nodding, "Understood. If we do want to meet with the union then let's make that our first stop, try to get there before work ends for the day." He is also ready to head out with the others.
“Before we leave town,” Umbriel says, his voice calm, “it wouldn’t hurt to grab a few essentials. A healer’s kit might be wise, in case anyone gets injured, andan extra waterskin for each of us wouldn’t go amiss either. Ten days is a long stretch, especially if something delays us.”
All normal items are discounted, you have your membership papers for now, eventually they will provide you with a choice of ring amulet or emblem…
If you choose to leave this afternoon you can meet with Bounder on site of the bridge being built by noon.
Your interactions while in Zero are met with smiles from the many craftsmen you buy from.
The worksite is an impressive undertaking. Many stones have been set in place and what looks like piles of chain are waiting to be attached and set in place it seems like wood is not being as utilized as you might’ve expected. Bounder is just finishing a stone placement, it’s massive. You see many workers watching as the stone sets into place they exchange gestures of approval for Bounder’s incredible display of raw strength. “Hey this here’s a building site not yet a crossing. You’ll need to wade over somewhere else.” He is scrutinizing your group as he speaks. “Unless you’ve come to do some men’s work begone!” His look is more a challenge than a threat, but many eyes and ears wait to catch your response.

Umbriel steps back slightly, letting the others take the lead on the conversation. Bounder’s challenge is clear, but it doesn’t bother him. Words had never been his strongest tool, and there was no need to meet bravado with bravado. Instead, he turns his attention to the building site itself, taking in the sheer scale of the project. While Bounder’s attention is focused on Tyr and Sylnache, Umbriel continues to observe quietly, cataloging details of the worksite in his mind—layout, materials, weak points. He knows from experience that sometimes the surroundings tell you more than the people.
"Pfft, 'men's' work, hah!" Sylnache laughs bluntly, either she didn't recognize the challenge of Bounder's words or simply didn't care. Given her normally blunt nature, it wouldn't have mattered much, "To care so much about man bits over skill, I wonder if this is more of a harem then a serious building site."
Many workers laugh at Sylnaches response. Bounder walks over toward Sylnache cursing under his breath, “Oh well then perhaps you’d like to show us how it makes no difference. You could certainly move the next stone into position.” Bounder points to a twin stone and dug out area, an identical feat to what he had just accomplished. A brave worker lets out a cat call whistle at the obvious challenge.

At this, Umbriel takes a step closer to the group. "I'll check the stone first. For fairness." He wouldn't put it past the builders to have some dirty trick up their sleeves, and he won't risk Sylnache getting injured. He carefully examines the stone and the area around it.

"Looks clear." Umbriel announces, heading back to his group. "It should be impossible, but if he can do it I'm sure you can, Sylnache. Maybe with a bit of inspiration, Faelin?"

( Assuming it's successful ) Sylnache allows herself a chuckle, and decides to let her actions speak for her. Spurred on by Faelin's poem as she strides up to the stone, Sylnache grasped it tightly with her hands before lifting it up to her shoulder as one would a small child. She then walks, almost casually, to it's destination before setting the massive stone down next to the previous one.
"Challenging a giantkin to move a rock? May as well have challenged a fish to swim across a lake." Sylnache grins as she turned back Bounder.
"Well," Umbriel says dryly, his eyes glinting with faint amusement as he steps closer to the group, "that was about what I expected." He casts a sidelong glance at Bounder. "I hope that settles any doubts you had."
His gaze flickers back to Sylnache, nodding in approval. "Good work."His tone is casual, but there’s a subtle hint of pride in his words.
"Now that we've proven we’re not here just to watch, perhaps we can get to the actual business at hand." He gestures to Tyr, ready to let him take the lead in the conversation with Bounder, though the Tiefling is clearly enjoying the small victory.
The workers whistle and call out as Sylnache shoulders the load (still over encumbered) and confidently walks one foot in front of the other and sets the stone in its dug out, seemingly with ease. Bounder is speechless, eventually a grin emerges, “Well I could use a whole crew like you, then. I take it your explorers, by the look of ya. Possible you could use a couple mule an a cart as I don’t see any. No trouble but you take my worker to watch over the rig he’s used to foraging and will look out for himself, that’s it. I can’t sell ‘em to ya not enough as it is but for a week or two you can put em to use. Anything else? Oh and if you’re brave you can use the board walk across.”
There is a series of planks across pilings in the river, the cart mules and crewman are on the other side.

"That’s a generous offer," Umbriel observes. "We could make good use of the mules and the cart. And having a forager with us will free up some of our time." He glances at the others, gauging their reactions. "I’ll let you handle the details," he adds, directing his comment to Tyr. "I’ll scout the boardwalk."
He turns his attention to the river crossing, carefully walking over to examine the planks. He’s concerned with whether they can safely support the weight of the cart and mules, preferring to know the risks before taking the leap.
It would require an acrobatics check to cross safely. The mules cart and mason are waiting for you on the other side. If you fall in, the water is deep and flowing quickly it is also quite wide here… You would then require an athletics check to swim to shore.
Your perception tells you it should be no big deal.

Umbriel stands at the edge of the boardwalk, eyeing the planks stretched over the rushing water below. He lets out a quiet sigh, the kind that comes from the realization that he’s about to do something far from ideal. Swimming is not his strong suit, and the river looks deeper and faster than he’d like, but the faster they retrieve the mules, cart, and forager, the better.
"This had better work,” he mutters to himself, squaring his shoulders and taking a breath. Without further hesitation, he steps onto the first plank, moving carefully but steadily, his eyes focused ahead as he makes his way across.
"As I've said before, I'm no negotiator, I'll leave these matters to you." Sylnache nods towards Tyr. She then follows Umbriel to make her way across the planks. She's less confident about balancing across the unsteady path, but she's far more confident she can swim her way out in the worst case.
She takes a deep breath and tries to place her foot on the first plank.
Umbriel navigates the planks making it look easy, but not even mid way across the first plank it groans and twists dumping Sylnache in the water, ropes are thrown out and the Goliath and her gear are hauled back to shore wet but safe. Even the plank is recovered and reset in place.

Faelin begins reciting a poem
only an excerpt of a much longer work
The Night’s Folly
As darkness lit to fire light.
Gaints arrived throughout the night.
Only by their hardened might,
did we survive.
We owe them all, for as they died,
we did indeed survive.
At break of day so many gone.
Yet hope still lit the sky.
Carry on, carry on, carry on.
