Tatts first blow is blocked by Ignis' armor the second gets past, striking the genasi. Breathing heavily he eyes the party with hatred as flames spring up and rage around him.
Lair Action
A 10-foot radius of ground centered on Ignis becomes rough terrain as small flames erupt. A creature takes 5 (2d4) fire damage for each 5ft travelled within the area of effect. This effect lasts until Ignis takes another lair action.
Ignis Turn
With his sword he lashes out against his attacker, striking at Tatts in angered retaliation.
Longsword @ Tatts Attack: 21 Damage: 11 magical slashing and 6 fire
Longsword @ Tatts Attack: 14 Damage: 5 magical slashing and 5 fire
After loosing his energy into the dragonborn he is surrounded by a silvery mist and then reappears North in the room and tries to take cover from behind a pillar.

Morjan moves 25 feet north west, taking care not to be caught in the flames, before arriving at the brazier. He turns to the caster, TheSun’s getting real low. When he finishes speaking a silvery mist washes over Ignis as a smoothing lullaby can be softly heard.
Movement: 25 feet north west.
Action: Sleep (4th level). If Ignis has less than 49 (11d8) current hitpoints he falls unconscious.
Ignis raises his sword in defiance as Morjan speaks. "The sun sets on you!" he declares. But soon he begins to sway before falling to ground in rest at the sorcerer's lullabye.

Herren is caught up in the flames from the lair action. I will move NE and try to squeeze by Tatts, then move NW to get away from the flames. I have 35 movement points and I think that is enough despite the rough terrain and restricted space. I calculate that I was in 2 fire spaces and will take the standard 5 points of fire damage from each space that I started in and passed thru, for a total of 10 points.
Ignis is unconscious, so I should be able to attack with ADVANTAGE. I will fire 2 arrows at him, this time using my SHARPSHOOTER feat on both arrows.
1st Arrow: I rolled a (19,1) +11 (-5) for a 25 TO HIT. I rolled an 8 +6+ 10 = 24 points of piercing damage. 2nd Arrow: I rolled a (1,12) +11 (-5) for an 18 TO HIT. I rolled a 1 +6+ 10 = 17 points of piecing damage.

[[ For the two squares, the 5 (2d4) portion is me just writing out a statblock with consistency of WotC language. But I still roll the d4s. So gonna roll that damage here real quick.
12 fire damage taken by Herren as he walks through.
Correct on advantage. But then Ignis being prone gives disadvantage for a ranged attack for a flat roll overall. In general I always take the left number if there's an erroneous adv/disadvantage. So taking those as 19 and 1. ]]
Herren's arrow strikes into the unconscious genasi. He wakes up startled from the damage only for his eyes to close forevermore.
Party Victory!
[[ Thinking I'll adjust Ignis' HP up a little. Try to get him lasting slightly longer.
Another fun battle. I'll probably work through the math figuring out how much I want to adjust him and get a new test up tomorrow evening or earlier. ]]
I have a twilight cleric in an IRL campaign with it, I've used it in fights with multiple lower level monsters, easier to heal when everyone is getting hit a lot less! :)
Sleep is such a broken spell in 5e since there is no save so even BBEGs are affected (excluding elves). Shame how they changed it in 2024 rulings to be a con save, which most monsters are really good at. Never used the spell before so thought I’d give it a go
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
[[ It was a neat go. Figured he'd save a legendary resistance in case needed to really make a save and them *boom* no-save Sleep. :D
And sorry for the delay, life got busy. ]]
Test 3: Bumped up Ignis' hit point somewhat.Changed his CR (in lair) from 11 to 12. (Side note, I do also find it interesting that currently lowering his hit dice would also not change the way the DMG calculates CR. Because either he falls into to starting at defense 10, bumped up once to 11. Or lowering him into the 9 range also comes with a reduced expected-AC meaning he'd get bumped up twice to defensive CR 11 by those same calculations. (So I'm curious to see how this goes.))

VitusW, I have some questions for you.
Is this the last combat scenario? If so, I will continue on with Herren.
If not, can we change characters? I have pretty much utilized Herren as best as I can.
[[
Ignis is the last monster. In addition to this current, might run him another 1-2 times.
For swapping, whadya have in mind?
