For the folks following along in the dice log, I have been rolling randomly to assign the targets of the shambling mound's attacks.
The order will always start with the summoned crocodiles, then Stone Feather, then any heroes. If we get more than one hero within striking distance ... the order will be alphabetical.
If we have four targets, I'll roll a d4. Six targets, a d6. Etc.
Sometimes, the number of targets and a convenient die do not line up, as in this last round. But I solved that issue by using a multiple of 2.
(5 targets, so I rolled a d10. 1-2=A, 3-4=B, 5-6=C, 7-8=D, & 9-10=E)
If we get to a weird number of targets that cannot be solved with a single die or using a common multiple, say 7 or 9 targets, I will roll the next largest die (example: a d8 for 7 targets) and then just ignore/reroll any unworkable results.
"grandpa" Salkur, Gnome Arti/Sorc: Forged in Chaos | Pepin, Human Arti/Cleric: Goblin horde | Mixtli, Volc Genasi Arti: Champions of the Citadel | Erix Vadalitis, Human Druid: Rising from the last war |Smithy, Human Arti: Night Ravens: Black orchids for Biscotti | Tamphalic Aliprax, Dragonborn Wizard: Chronicles of the Accursed | Doc, Dwarven Cleric (2024): Adventure at Hope's End | Abathax, Tiefling Illriger: Hunt for the Balowang | Gorin Mestel, Human Arti: Descend into Avernus
Also, as a named NPC, the Frog Prince used the character rules for death and dying. That is, after dropping to zero hit points remaining, it started making death saving throws. After accruing three failures, the Frog Prince is no more.
(one failure was from a failed death saving throw rolled during the Frog Prince's turn and then two more failures from being walloped by Doc's warhammer)
You guys can expect that for any future named NPC's. Nameless goons ... not so much. For them, zero hit points remaining = dead.
(I updated the first post of the OOC to reflect this house rule)
Would Cassian be able to attack the SM with his longsword at this range? The section on mounted combat doesn't mention needing a Reach weapon, but I have trouble picturing it so want to make sure lol.
Sorry, I have had a week with no access to DDB due to a holdiay with no signal, and unexpectedly wifi that was restricted to not allow access to forums. I will get Chromir's actions sorted now.
For the folks rolling with advantage, I don't mind if you just toss the dice twice in a row ... but if you didn't know, you can select this option prior to tossing the dice right from the get-go if you want.
On a computer, just right click the roll you are trying to make. From there you can select advantage or disadvantage if it is applicable. For damage dice, there is an option to roll the damage as a critical as well.
From a mobile device, there is no 'right click' obviously ... but if you tap and hold over the roll you are about to make the same options will pop up.
This was an 'everything but the kitchen sink' encounter, gang. Well done.
Each of the bogmen's first attacks were made with a spear coated in poison, and the cockatrices could have easily removed a character from play for the entire encounter. The Bullywug Royal was a mini-boss so to speak, basically there to soften you guys up and have you throw some resources at it until the shambling mound made its appearance.
I wasn't sure when I was putting it together if it was going to be a TPK or not, and it got real close a couple of times (like ... within a single die roll).
You had to throw everything you had at it ... but you made it.

I dont think we even know what this artifact, fetish, or item looks like do we? Docs idea is good maybe he knows common, other wise how whould he have ever interacted with Malric? Oh yeah Malrik knows draconic thats right... Its a pickle.

Yeah, I think that's right.

Ooh, astride since he can! That'll get Cass out of the difficult terrain. And make more sense as far as trying to protect SF with his shield lol.
This would look so epic!

Sounds good and fair^^

Yes, Cassian is in a square that is adjacent to (w/i 5') of the shambling mound.

After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
No worries. Real life always comes first. Hope the holiday was a good one, and welcome back!

Remember we have the Growth Potion on Chromir and the Fire Breathing one on Doc. Might help to get the most damage out of the SM being restrained.
Chromir might have to be reminded of that in character. He's busy raging so it's not on his mind currently

Cassian is also distracted. Maybe Doc will remember.
