As Lanben's eyes adjust to the dim light, he sees the silhouette of a large, tree-like creature emerge from perhaps 30 paces into the woods, and step onto the path. The strange creature completely blocks the way and seems to be watching everyone and waiting...
Liam the Weak: Level 4 Human Fighter - Trying to fight against his other personality, and constantly losing.
Aodh: Level 20 Half-Elf Cleric of Life - Not really. It's a strange being that had possessed and broke down a level 20 Cleric of Life Domain, gaining his knowledge and power.
"*****": Level 1 Tiefling Sorcerer - Her family is dead, and her will is broken. She follows orders so that those that command her will allow her to die.
Grup stares at the creature. A large living tree with dark, cracked bark blocks the trail in front of him and his companions. Its black eyes watch everyone intently. Thick, dark sap runs unchecked like tears down its gnarled face. It was a treant, but not a normal one. It was old, dark, and almost unnatural. Upon more intense inspection, Grup is filled with wariness towards the sap that runs down its face.
The strange creature shows no other sign of emotion, but when Grup greets it, it spoke,
"She has returned! The Dusk Queen has returned! Have you come to retrieve the mirror shards for her?"

first, I'd like to do a check to see if I know who the Dusk Queen is?

Whether or not I know who it is, I'd like to say so he sees that we're on his side, "Calm down tree! That is exactly why we're here. Where is she and how do we stop her?" Deception18

"Hold on, we don't know if getting these 'mirror shards' or whatever will stop her in the first place," Amvilla whispers, her eyes narrowing at the tree, searching its figure. "We don't even know if it's on our side! ....Though, I'd like to hope so. It would definitely make things easier. But this thing definitely doesn't look like a normal treant...."

"I'm really not great at this diplomatic business so I'll leave that to the lot of you," Dromarch whispers on the sly, "but I'm pretty sure this treant doesn't want the Dusk Queen stopped. So I reckon we've got to decide how we stand on the issue..."
Dromarch would like to apply insight into the treant's words to confirm whether it's for or against the Dusk Queen being stopped.
((Okay, just gonna do the History and Perception checks first, and the Deception/Persuasion Check later on, since I’m at work right now.))
As he spoke, Stormbringer tries to recall any information about the Dusk Queen. A flood of information is recalled...
The Dusk Queen once ruled this forest and its surrounding lands for many years before she mysteriously vanished. She possessed a powerful magic mirror that she used to control and terrorize her subjects, and the one known as the Sun King destroyed it before her disappearance. Her forest, this forest, is thought to be inhabited by frightening creatures, many of which come from the Plane of Shadow itself. Finally, the Dusk Queen was also protected by a dark Paladin. Some whisper that he was much more than a simple royal guard...
Amvilla and Dromarch attempt to look for any tells in its voice or body movement that would help them figure out if it was a servant or a victim of the Dusk Queen. But both are left uncertain...

This really isn't my day, is it? Amvilla sighs, disappointment lacing her words. "I was really hoping I wouldn't have to get in a fight today...." She inches around the strangers in front of her to get a better view of the treant, and narrows her eyes into a glare, not bothering to lower her voice. "Now listen, you pitiful glorified sapling. We're not looking to pick a fight, or is your brain just as thick as your bark? All we want is to know is what these mirror shards are and what this 'Dusk Queen' wants with them."
@Girania: Amvilla casts Vicious Mockery. The Weeping Treant has to make a Wisdom saving throw vs a DC of 14. If it fails, it has to take 5 poison damage, and it has disadvantage on its next attack roll.
EDIT: Oh no, I just wanted to fix my roll....anyway, it would be 2 damage if the treant fails.))

Grup waves at the tree creature, "Hezzo." He tries to identify the creature. (What kind of check would that be?)
Lanben wants to know to.
