Hi there. I have decided to see how well ChatGPT can create an adventure. I will feed it the backstories of the chosen players, as well as key decisions taken by the party, and see what it comes up with. I will still be DMing, with enemies controlled by me, but anything plot driving will come from ChatGPT (or your backstories) including, but not limited to, NPCs, encounters (unless I feel one is relevant and I will still create some myself) and plot hooks. If something is ridiculous, I will veto it and either pick myself or regenerate, or if I get given options, I will pick the one(s) I feel are best. This is not a pure AI adventure.
To give it a base starting point, I am setting it in the Sword Coast (or at least as close to it as we can get with AI understanding), so keep that in mind with your backstories. Out of all towns in the Sword Coast, ChatGPT has decided the adventure should start in Daggerford. I decided we should start at level 3 (so all players have the ability for a subclass). You may use 2014 or 2024 rules for character creation. No homebrew.
What I am looking for:
Name: Species: Class/Subclass: Background: Ability scores: (Either roll on the thread, reroll 1s always. Or take standard array/point buy. If you roll, you must use your roll unless it is terrible enough that I say you can reroll it. So if you won't be happy with mediocre rolls, don't roll) Backstory: (the more detailed, the more ChatGPT will be able to do with it. Though I request you don't go overboard as I want ideally similar amounts of detail so it can be evenly weighted. Do include names of anyone important to the backstory.)
Backstories can be PM'd if you want them private. You may multiclass if you meet the requirements.
Recruitment is open for at least 36 hours. Depending on interest we will see if it is open longer or not. If you have put a placeholder before that time is up, I will give you some time to finish it (24 hours after my confirmation of closing post)
Name: Doli Waltori Species: Tabaxi Class/Subclass: Monk/ Warrior of the Elements Background: Hermit Ability scores:101611121311 Backstory: (will PM you. i wrote alot and i know u said you dont want that much so if its too much i will add a TLDR shorter version)
been a long time trying to figure out how to roll on the forum
in the top part of the chat box, where the options for bold text and font size are, all the way to the right there is a dice button. click that and choose the ability score option, and make sure to reroll ones. hope this helps!
I think I would like to give this a chance. I’ve dabbled quite some time now with ChatGPT and I think it might come up with an interesting homebrew adventure. Let’s see if I get something up before time runs out for applications.
Born in the sun-kissed peaks of the Draxelorn Mountains, Zephyrion Draxen emerged from a lineage of proud bronze dragonborn known for their wisdom and strength. From a young age, he displayed an unusual affinity for illusion magic, captivating his family and community with pranks that danced between mirth and wonder. While other dragonborn trained in martial prowess, Zephyrion found solace in the arcane, often retreating to hidden groves to practice his spells.
His upbringing was marked by a deep connection to the natural world, especially the shimmering lakes that reflected the sky like polished glass. It was there that he met an elderly elven illusionist named Seraphine, who became his mentor. Under her guidance, Zephyrion learned to weave illusions that not only entertained but also conveyed powerful truths. He discovered that magic could transform not just the external world, but also the internal struggles of those around him.
However, Zephyrion’s journey took a darker turn when a mercenary group threatened his home, seeking to exploit the sacred lands for their own gain. In the heat of battle, he used his illusions to confuse and mislead the invaders, turning the tide in favor of his kin. The victory was bittersweet; while he saved his people, the experience instilled in him a profound understanding of the fragility of reality.
Now, Zephyrion travels the realms, seeking knowledge and allies to protect the natural balance from those who would disrupt it. He uses his illusions not only to entertain but also to educate, teaching others about the importance of perception and empathy. With a heart full of dreams and a mind keen on magic, he stands as a beacon of hope, blending laughter and wisdom wherever he goes.
Alistair Thistledown was not your average halfling. Born into the bustling trade city of Waterdeep, he came from a family of accomplished merchants known for their exquisite silks and rare spices. However, Alistair’s true fascination lay not in commerce but in the arcane arts. As a child, he would often sneak away from his family’s merchant stalls to explore the dusty tomes of the city's oldest library, losing himself in tales of powerful wizards and fantastical realms.
One fateful day, while rummaging through a forgotten section of the library, Alistair stumbled upon a tattered spellbook hidden beneath a loose floorboard. It was filled with spells that danced with vibrant energy and radiant light, igniting a spark of ambition within him. He spent countless nights studying the book, honing his innate magical talent, and practicing spells in secret.
However, his insatiable curiosity would soon lead him into trouble. During a clandestine experiment, Alistair accidentally summoned a rogue elemental — an elemental of pure fire. The chaos that ensued caught the attention of the City Watch, who mistakenly believed that Alistair was responsible for the sudden fires engulfing several merchant stalls. Though he was able to subdue the elemental, the damage was done. With his reputation tarnished and his family's business suffering, Alistair had little choice but to leave Waterdeep behind.
With a heart full of ambition and a head full of spells, Alistair embarked on a journey along the Sword Coast, seeking to master the art of evocation. He became a wandering scholar, sharing tales of his adventures and learning from experienced wizards in exchange for his knowledge of trade and commerce. Along the way, he forged alliances with adventurers and scholars alike, always eager to expand his repertoire of spells and discover ancient artifacts.
Now, Alistair is on a quest to uncover the secrets of the Arcane, fueled by his ambition and a desire to prove himself. As he travels through the Sword Coast, he strives to redeem his name and restore his family's honor, all while leaving a trail of dazzling displays of evocation magic in his wake.
