class cleric of Amaunator, protector order and light domain (2024 build)
background guard
Gym, a native to Daggerford and a member of Clan Ironeater, grew up in a stone cutting family. Having a hand in building some of Daggerford. As the third son his path in life was left up to him. Growing up admiring the Morninglow Tower and it's construction he found himself spending more and more time there. He served with some of the adventuring clerics in the town's militia and one day, more on whim than anything else, he approached Luc Sunbright and asked about joining. Sunbright's disdain for the "lower class" was so sharp and his retort to the question even sharper. Gym returned home, defeated. He hadn't really wanted to be a cleric of Amaunator but now, after the way he was talked down to, it was all he wanted. His father, wise beyond his years, had a long talk with young Gym, recounted the history and what it met to be an Ironeater. The next morning found Gym alone on the river banks as the sun rose, without knowing exactly what to say or exactly how to do it, he pledged his life in service to the rising sun, to Amaunator. He returned to the temple, the blessing of the risen sun still filling his spirit, and declared before Sunbright that he had been chosen by the sun god and asked if there were any within the temple willing to teach him. As the other priest gathered to question him, Sunbright turned his nose up and with a dismissive wave of his hand said "so be it." That was four years ago. Now a full member of the temple and active town militiaman he's ready for whatever Amaunator has in store for him in the next sunrise.
Looks like you have a lot of great applicants and it's going to be a while before I can finish my submission, so I'm going to withdraw. Best of luck with this! I hope it goes well!♥️
Hello all! TheSunkenSailor Here Resident Lore-Maker and Lore Enthusiast! I make lore for anything so ask and thou SHALL RECIEVE! Welp, that's about all I got, Till we meet again! Goodbye!
I was selected for a solo adventure for a person trying to 'see' how well GPT would help a GM.
A cleric sent to a small village due to attacks on farm animals and people from 'attackers unknown'. Seems the village ** might ** have been cursed (or so the initial lore dump said).
I would post. He would input it and the GPT would churn out a reply.
It did not take long to see how it was going. I would post. The GPT would practically repeat what I posted... with some embellishments -- which was kind of neat to read however, it would then basically give one or two 'consider these' choices.
Three weeks of this was when the GM and I discussed where we were -- to see that GPT is great at taking text and punching it up to read better, however, when it got to more than descriptive imagery, GPT was not 'set up' to take actions and extrapolate like a GM does... to set the scene for an encounter / combat / tossing out bread crumbs to help a character along. Spent that third week posting actions and suppositions and GPT just could not go that extra 'step' that a GM does 'on the fly'.
It was an interesting exercise (this was last fall?) Hope this breaks that GPT loggerhead. Best of luck!

And this is one of those reasons why I am not entirely relying on GPT. And this might evolve as we go. If GPT struggles with certain aspects more than others, I will end up taking that on more. I am definitely hoping it can come up with plot hooks and based on the outcome of those plot hooks, take the story further. I also will not be directly pasting things into GPT (other than backstories). My intention is to summarise what the party are doing, and let it come up with what happens next. Dialogue/combat will be driven by me.
Also, due to interest being good, I will have enough people for a group so recruitment will close in about 16 hours (based on what time I think I will have chance to change the tag after the 36 hour period).
I would appreciate if people with placeholders try and finish them by the time of closing, however as stated in my original post, I am giving some leeway in that. I am adjusting it to 24 hours from now, at which point I will make my final decision on the party.

I think that is the way to go with AI. It is a tool, not a creative mind. It's works extremely well to brainstorm ideas that you can bounce back and forth until you are satisfied, or to describe scenes more efficiently by simply needing to write a list that you want to have in them and let the AI figure out how to put that into a flowing text. It's also nice to being able to change the mood of a text section on the fly.
One day it might be in a state that it can replace a DM but I think we're still far away from that. I very much look forward to see how this experiment goes and if the AI is able to keep up with the players. Let's see if someone tries to or manages to break it, too.
Bing Bing, doesnt say much. He used to train under the masters of the Way of the Samurai as a farmer in a small village. He defected and drifted ronin when his wife died from an illness. He became a wanderer lost in his grief and now is a wandering warrior looking for his path.
Thwack and his flock of friends (Anlow Van Hyden, Rixi Willowrush, and Beyla Hackshield) were always just a little bit hungry. Their parents all tried to take care of them, and Thwack loved his folks (Humm and Chachunk) for trying, but before long it was easier to pick up stuff that looked lonely, especially food. And he is a sucker for a shiny bauble. His folks hated this about him, and he argued with them. “Be poor but honest like us,” they said.
Then one night, the City Watch chased Thwack and his friends into the old haunted Szereban place. His friends tried to run back out of the haunted house and were immediately caught and jailed. Thwack ended up hiding in the house all night to avoid getting caught. He doesn’t like to talk about it, but he walked out with a very lonely spellbook. His Uncle Zazzumbra studied magic, made a living at it, and had once told Thwack he was smart enough to learn the craft. With the book, he’d like to prove his uncle right.
Until then, Thwack is ashamed to go back home (he abandoned his friends), so he’s going to try living on his own for a while, picking up lonely food, and giving it a good home in his belly. He does miss having friends though.
Recruitment is closed. Any new people posting after this message will not be considered. Anyone who has rolled or put a placeholder currently may finish up in the next 6-7 hours before I finish my final decisions.
Thank you everyone for applying, I have made my initial selection, though there was a couple of close runner ups so if anyone selected in the initial group changes their mind, I will move onto my next choice. If this is successful (especially if it ends up being less effort than a regular campaign) I will possibly look at doing another one, in which case those who applied this time and didn't get in will have a priority next time (though not necessarily guaranteed places).
