"What did Luna normally do while you were gone? Does she have any other friends she might have spent time with? Or places she frequented? They could all help us find her. Maybe she told someone that she needed to go do something in another town? Talking of, does she have any family she might have gone to see?"
"Cora is her best friend though." The woodsman continued, calling the barmaid over to the table.
Cora hesitated when Darin called over to her, her hands tightening around the tray she’d been carrying. A flicker of something crossed her face — apprehension, maybe, or just exhaustion from a long night. With a steadying breath, she composed herself and crossed the room, setting the tray down at the edge of the table before slipping into the seat beside Darin.
"Evening gents, what’s this about?" She asked, brushing a stray curl behind her ear.
Darin exhaled, dragging a hand through his unkempt hair. "It’s Luna, Cora. She’s gone missing."
A gasp. She blinked once, twice, before shaking her head. "Gone missing? What do you mean, gone missing?"
"I mean she’s gone." Darin said, frustration creeping into his tone. “I was ... in the woods. Her cottage was empty when I came back.”
Cora swallowed hard. Her gaze darted to Chromir, then back to Darin. "She wouldn’t just leave, not without telling someone." Her voice wavered, emotion creeping in and threatening to overwhelm the young woman.
She pressed her lips together, as if trying to steady herself. "Did you—?" She stopped short, shaking her head, reformulating the inquiry.
"Have you checked everywhere?"

Chromir listens, but gets distracted by his drink, so doesn't pay too much attention. "My friends are currently checking our house. If there is anything Darin missed, they should find it. Is there anyone else she might have told if she was going somewhere?"
"Did you guys find anything, Can you open that cupboard?"

Cassian listens to Navrine’s words, a distant look crossing his face. “I n-never had to d-deal with nobles back in my v-village, j-just...” he murmurs, his voice quieter, edged with something unspoken. He stops himself, shaking his head as if to clear the thought, instead focusing on the charred fragments of Luna’s journal. His brow furrows. The words paint a grim picture, but something gnaws at him. “She says she w-wants to build a life with Darin, but...whoever she’s afraid of, it doesn’t sound like h-him. 'Red eyes' watching her even when he isn’t there. That d-doesn’t sound like any ordinary man.” He hesitates before reaching out to trace a finger over the burned edges of the journal.
Navrine sighs in frustration, “Whoever tried to get in this lock with crude tools seems to have jammed the mechanism,” She looks to her companions, “I could probably get it open in time but I could break my tools or the lock itself, So if you really want in I could probably smash it open, but I feel conflicted about that what do you guys think?”
“L-Luna could be in danger, so...we do what we have to. I have my c-carpenter’s tools back at the inn—I can try making her a new d-desk later.” His lips press into a firm line. “B-but right now, finding out what’s inside is more important.” The paladin focuses to gather his strength, then attempts to force the drawer open.
"Interesting, but not much that hints on where she went. We probably should talk with the Baron, and first of all investigate outside aswell for any hints."

"Y-yes," Cassian nods in agreement with Doc, gently sliding the drawer back closed if possible, "A-and let's lock her door on the w-way out. I'd h-hate for whoever made all those s-scratches to come back and steal this because I-I broke the drawer."
Navrine nods but is concerned someone would break in and steal this woman's life savings. “Cassian, maybe you should keep the gold safe until we find her?”
Cassian opens the drawer again, frowning thoughtfully. "I...A-alright," he gives a resolute nod and carefully takes the small chest, as well as one of the sketches as evidence, "I-it's my responsibility. I'll make sure she gets it all back when we find her." He heads for the door with the others.
“Thanks Cassian, you're a good man!”As she then turns to leave with the group she says “I just hope we can find her, and that she is ok. I will definitely help with getting her furniture repaired.” Navrine pales at the thought of interacting with nobles, but she realises the clues point that way so she pulls her hood up and follows along with the group.
After his interaction with Darin and Cora, Chromir goes over to Sareal. "I'm sorry for intruding but my companions mentioned a prophecy that you gave them on our first night here. I ignored it at the time but from my time spent around druids I know that omens and signs of the future can be very much true. I think it may be coming to pass. Can you tell me anything about Luna?"
Cassian gives a shy, almost sheepish smile at Navrine’s praise, rubbing the back of his neck. “I t-try,”he murmurs. “Being r-resolute is…hard, sometimes,” he admits quietly, “but I have to be.” His fingers brush over the hilt of his sword—a reminder of the vow he made in the depths of the swamp. “Now that I’ve taken my oath, I can’t turn away from this.”
As they walk, Navrine responds “I admire your oath, it's really not all that different from the tenents I adhere to as a follower of Ilmatar.” She smiles “The one I strive for most is Compassion, to aid others, protect the weak, and punish those who threaten them.” She remembers the monks who took her in and taught her the ways of Ilmatar and smiles. “There was a saying among the clergy of that order, ‘Until I can bear a fraction of your burden, Sufferer, I shall.’ I think I sort of get that now.” As they walk she asks her companions "If I may ask, and feel free not to answer, I know it is sort of personal, and all, but what beliefs do you guys hold?"
Cassian nods, thoughtful. “Compassion…that part’s always made sense to me,” he says quietly. It’s the most natural of the tenets, the one he never had to struggle with. Protecting people, easing their suffering—he’s never doubted that was the right thing to do. But when Navrine asks about faith, he hesitates, his steps slowing just a little.
“I…don’t r-really know,” he admits. “The p-people of my village didn’t allow talk of gods, so I didn't grow up with a-any particular faith...Joy liked Lathander, the M-morninglord, for redemption and new beginnings. She said he offered hope. Gods are...interesting to hear about,” His voice softens. “But to me, being a Paladin has always felt like...it's about my heart, my choices. My promise to myself and the world.” He exhales, looking ahead. “I g-guess that’s what I hold to most.”
Navrine thinks about this for a while. Really she had not heard much about the other deities. “Lathander, the Morninglord, sounds like a good Deity.” She continues walking. “I really don't like Nobles, so if it's ok with you, can you guys do the talking?”
When they are outside Doc will investigate the door and surroundings of the cabin for any disturbances:
Perception: 21
For during the walk back:
"I'm a follower of Clangeddin Silverbeard myself" Doc says pointing at the twin axes on his shield. "As well as the other gods from Moradinsamman of course."

The paladin breaks open the drawer, and inside ... a small chest containing hundreds of gold coins!
150GP to be exact. This sum would cover about two years' living expenses for a small town villager.
