"W-well...I think it is tying the times to elements so that we'll know the order for...something. I-it's strange to put it out where anyone can read it though...Maybe this wizard liked riddles. As for real gold, I'm sure Doc would know better than me."
Cassian tries to steel himself to face the swarming vermin and apparently huge creature that the dwarf sensed.
Chromir doesn't like the thought of a riddle. So instead he goes to investigate the dead rat, in particular looking for evidence of the blade that killed it

The heroes spend a few moments examine their surroundings.
The gold lettering that had been limned into the the carved verses was indeed some sort of gold paint. Given enough time and effort, it could be scraped and collected to yield about 10gp.
Meanwhile, the barbarian examined the dead carcass of the giant rat and determined that it had been sliced cleanly through with a large blade. The power needed to wreak such havoc upon a creature of this size was comparable to what Chromir had seen with his mightiest axe swings.
Rounding the corner of this dark and gloomy place, the heroes discover that the passageway heads about 30 feet to the north before ending at two wooden doors. One to the north, and one to the west. Just in front of them, however, was a curious tiled mosaic laid into the floor.
← South [This section of the hallway is about ten feet long. and fully occupies two separate 5' squares] North→
Navrine examines the tiled mosaic laid into the floor. “Wow, that's decorative!”She holds the torch higher so everyone can get a good view of the floor. “Someone went through a lot of trouble inlaying the wall with gold painted letters and laying out this pretty floor pattern which seems to follow what the words were saying… I think?” She looks at the walls, floor, and ceiling to see if there might be any traps.
(Investigation 14)
“There is certainly a mystery here, perhaps we better proceed with caution as there might be trap?"
"Hmm what do you guys think" Doc asks "Could it mean we walk upto the daytime tile, than we need to wait for heat to pass, walk on and jump over de nighttime tile?"

Doc decides to take Cassian's suggestion and steps onto the first mosaic tile, waiting for something to happen, ready to jump out of the way if needed.

Cassian gasps in horror as the blades graze Doc, feeling instant regret for his suggestion.
"I-I'm sorry! S-so sorry! Are you alright?" He frowns down at the offending tile for a moment before sighing. "Well...I guess there was a-already air on that one. Midday is earth so..." He looks around for a rock they can throw onto the next tile.
Doc is cut pretty badly by the sharp blade, but can continue.
"Well that wasn't the best decision. Don't worry Cassian, was my own choice to step on it after all. Maybe we should just jump over the tiles?"

Chromir looks to see if there is anything large he can jam into the slits. This is not a rogue's disarming traps approach he is going for. He is looking for brute strength to simple break the mechanism. (Investigation 13 in game log)
Cassian retrieved a heavy stone from the hallway and threw it onto the mosaic tile ten feet ahead of the group. It too drew a series of blades from the wall.
From the brewery side of the cellar, Chromir gathered some pieces and parts of broken barrels and entered the trapped area with the intent of fouling or blocking the mechanism. The blades struck out at the goliath, but he was able to jam the mechanism, fouling it so that it would not be able to strike again.
The first of two 5' sections has been dealt with and the trap in the first 5' section is essentially disarmed.
@Swiftgale, please roll a Dexterity save [DC15], 11 slashing damage on a failure, 5 slashing damage on a success (these numbers have not been adjusted for Chromir's resistance, so it will really be 5 on a success and 2 on a failure.
@Johnny2136, Navrine has yet to act. Is there anything you would you like the monk to do?
@All, After Navrine gets a chance to act, we can begin again with each character getting a chance to weigh in
Chromir in his attempt to break the trap, doesn't even attempt to move out of the way of the blades as they swing towards him (dex save: 10). He relies on his muscles to absorb the impact (7hp left)
