"Hello, Doru. We've come to ask you some questions and...and help you not hurt anymore." Kessintra begins, warily stepping a little closer to the figure. "Can you tell us what happened when you went to the castle? It might help us keep it from happening to anyone else."
Though this isn’t her temple, and they are not her god, Amelia feels a seething anger rise within her as she surveys the devastated church. To her, it doesn’t matter whether the place belongs to the human or elven pantheon; a house of holy light should never be like this. The parade of dead only strengthens her determination to challenge the dark lord of this land. Among the ghostly figures, she glimpses several elves.
“Brothers and sisters,”
she murmurs.
“no matter how long it takes, I will free you one day…”
Turning to the old priest, Amelia speaks.
“You mentioned a wizard who convinced your son to stand against Strahd. Who was this person? Do you know where he is now?”
"The wizard came parading through town in a black robe, proclaiming a potential for the devil's downfall. A mob stormed the castle... just like the March. They didn't make it in the door. The wizard... his staff... and his spellbook..... Gone. Lost to Strahd's hand. He was the last to die."
Doru adds, "I'm not a threat. Not while I'm starved. Not here."
"Ah, the wizard died...I suppose that isn't the one we need to find then."Kessintra gives a small nod at Doru's assurances, not believing for a moment that he isn't a threat, though she does feel pity for him. "It was brave of you to try."
Garrick pulls out his rope of climbing and commands it to wrap around Doru. This is for our security even if you are no threat like you claim. He also commands Striker to position himself between himself and Kessintra.
Chipper leaves Skipper to sit in a nearby tree near the inn to look for when the three Vistani leave, listening to any conversations they're having.
--- At the church
He listens on as the priest talks about the marching souls and wizard. At the mentions of a missing staff and spellbook his interest is particularly piqued, "You say the staff and spellbook... gone. But destroyed? Or merely acquired? We've heard this Strahd dabbles in magic. I wonder if those items might yet be recovered."

Both Doru and the priest recount a similar tale.
"The wizard came parading through town in a black robe, proclaiming a potential for the devil's downfall. A mob stormed the castle... just like the March. They didn't make it in the door. The wizard... his staff... and his spellbook..... Gone. Lost to Strahd's hand. He was the last to die."

Doru struggles against the rope. "No! Stay back!" He violently struggles against the rope. Roll initiative.
