"Oy Pushover! You still got your magick detecting spell going? What do you think these lines of runes are?" asks Sigurd as he checks out the floor, while avoiding actually reading the runes (Investigation 6)
'Umm, I...uhh...never activated the spell...but this definitely looks like a good place to do so!' She begins the ritual to cast detect magic, Aebelskink's pages flipping and creasing with power as she does so, and lets the party examine the runes further until she's finished.

(assuming with not crossing the runes area)
You don't spot anything of note on the floor besides lack of dust.
Grigor decided to take up rear guard for now, taking up a position to the back of the group watching fior dangers from behind.
As they found themselves in the chamber with the charred floor, Grigs goes to the south wall carefully avoiding stepping into the burned area to attempt to see where flames might come from.
There looks to be nothing jutting out from the walls nor the ceiling or the room.
"Seems like there has to be a magical trigger. I don't see anything suggesting there's a mechanism. Think there's a password of something?" Grigs waits for Pushover to finish her spell before doing any experiments hoping it will give them a clue.
The bugbear grins. "Thanks, man." having just a flicker of doubt as to whether 'man' fits in this context, but decides to roll with it unless corrected. "Always nice to have a snack." He drops the berries in his medic pouch for later.
"So, I think I can jump the gap easy enough. Course that might not stop me from being turned into a crisp on the way

Once the spell is casted, Pushover can sense the runes radiate with evocation energy.
"Can anybody read this stuff? Maybe something to do withthose pools? Doesn't really make sense there wouldn't be some way to deactivate it." Grigor numbers himself up a little, getting ready for a leap, as s quick test, he holds a torch over the area, if that has no effect, he then touches the torch to the runes.

Holding the torch over the runes does nothing. Once the torch touches the ground, the runes let out a small torrent of flames from themselves.
"Well... There's one option. Looks like jumping might not be an insta-kill for us." With a few more stretches, then some jumps to test his gear, which he takes a moment to secure a couple pieces. He then takes several steps back to the hall, sprints forward, and leaps just before the runes.
((Making a long jump . His str is 19 so he should be able to clear 10' easily enough, but jic Athletics 19 in game log.))

(Will just need to know where you'd like to jump from.)
Pushovernervously spins her hair around with her finger as she sizes up the jump. 'If I tried to jump, I would just about fail to clear that, but I think I could maybe scrape through if I tried, especially since I'm resistant to the damage of flames.' [She has a STR score of 9 so would be a foot short of a successful long jump, but could she make an Acrobatics check or DEX Save to quickly leap or sprint forward that last step and avoid the worst of the flames?] Whilst she's got certainty in the slight edge against fire granted by her infernal heritage, she isn't certain in her jumping skills, and in typical fashion plays the role of devil's advocate (or more like devil advocate) and also suggests a different option to the party, giving them the burden of choice. 'I could also be carried by somebody strong enough that can make that jump easily...I'm not particularly heavy, but I wouldn't want to accidentally harm both myself and another person by putting my weight onto them too...actually ignore that option, please just choose whatever you think is safer for you, I don't mean to make things complicated, sorry!'
((If grigor doesn't die being the guinea pig, his carrying capacity is double, so like well over 500lbs with a 19 str. he'd be happy to help Pushover if we don't have another hefty person in the group. He's just not confident he's not going to trigger the flames to offer to take her with him on the first go haha))
Griggs easily jumps over the fire trap and lands on the other side. But as soon as he lands, the floor falls open, dropping Griggs into a small pit.
Griggs take 5 damage from the fall
Griggs lands upon mostly stone flooring but do see some grates in the pit. A high pitch hiss comes from beneath Griggs as water starts to come up from the grates.
"Uh, don't do what I did." He hops up and hauls himself out of the pit on the far side, checking for more loose bits of floor to avoid.
"Why are there guards down her exactly?" This place made no sense. After navigating the rest of the floor more carefully, he goes to the door to see if it's trapped as well and try to see if they can get through.
"Got some water coming. Just FYI"
((Perception 25 looking for more traps on the floor and door))

While he waits for the magical experts to figure out the who whats, Ja'Dul applies a bandage to his owie.
Then creates some brightly colored blue goodberry, pops one in his mouth and hands out two to everybody.

Sigurd backs up a bit as he sees Grigor about to make his jump, interested in the results. He readies himself to react with his hand axe if necessary.

Ja'Dul waves an arrow in the air above the burnt spot.
Then he taps the ground with the arrow.
He is trying to see if it's just the ground that activates the fire or if it's the air space as well.
