You all have accepted the detectives invitation, and now find yourself in a dimly lit room with a chandelier of orange flames. The 3 of you sit at a table, with the detective on one side. "Thank you all for coming. I'm sure you are aware of the risks involved, however, since you arrived, it is too late to back down. From here on, we will be taking down the mob." (Describe your character's appearance and mannerisms, if you will)
Sirrus is a tiefling wearing a matt black robe that seemingly makes him disappear in the dark. His deep hood hides most of his face, and he keeps his hands hidden in his long sleeves. Every now and again his head will twitch a minuscule amount to the left, a remnant of a battle long ago. He speaks in a soft, low voice that lightly contrasts his threatening looks.
Sirrus glances at his now partners, silently wondering how capable they are. "Well, if we are to be working together, I suppose it's best to know each other's name at the least." He will than very much not intoduce himself.
Peyton stands just about 5 feet and a bit. Her tan fur is complimented by her white and brown clothing with a red scarf for a splash of color. You can see the symbol of Hestia, god of hearth and home engraved on her pack.
"The name is Peyton," she holds out her hand "I am a Community servant." she smiles and shrugs if the offer is not taken.
Sitting there with a gruff look on her face is Apalok Laku of the Ukunurunu Tribe. She is over 6 feet tall but striking for a goliath. Dark black hair with facial tatoos, she speaks eloquently for a goliath....but maybe a little too well. On her armor is the emblem of the Goddess of the underworld Persephone. She shakes Peyton's hand and squeezes a little too hard "The mob has been a thorn in the side of this realm for far too long. It is good that we plan to strike and decimate their numbers. I am Apalok Laku of the Ukunurunu Tribe, but you may call me Apa."
The detective pulls out 4 papers and slides them across the table. 3 are letters directed to a 'boss', and one is a sketch of a man. His face is intentionally shaded, but he has hair combed to one side and a mole on his jaw.
"The boss. He is the head of the snake. If we manage to arrest him, then we can bring down his criminal empire. Easier said than done, however. He has connections with just about every lowlife you can imagine. We don't know who he is, but we managed to get this sketch of him, and we got his alias; 'Geffano',". The detectives stare goes cold as he glares at the image. "I will not lie to you, all of us may not survive. But if all is said and done, 500 gold, each." The detective is wearing a blue coat, and looks to be in his late 40's.
This letter seems to be from a thug, based on writing errors, and revealing important information like a Identity of a Capo (someone with power in the mob). It mainly details reports surrounding a nosey guard, and a plan to kill them.
This letter is from a Capo which the first letter revealed the codename of. There are messages in between words that detail a successful deal with a local theives guild, and also mentions the execution of a careless thug who brought attention to the mob by murdering a guard. Without the little details pointed out on the letter via notes, one might assume it was discussing groceries.
This letter is written in brutish handwriting, and seems to be inquiring about a meeting place to discuss an arms trade. The sender has a goblinoid name.
Sirrus thinks for a moment on what they could do with these. "Have you done anything yet to find this Capo? And what are the chances they know we have these?"
"The Capo's identity is still a mystery, but they are cautious, sending letters rather than meeting in person. We were actually able to find the first two thanks to intercepting them. Writing a letter detailing murder does bring attention from guards, and thanks to the formers incompetence, I was able to decode the second. I'd say that they know that the letters were in enemy hands, as when we tried to ambush the receiver of the letters, they never showed up."
"Works for me." Sirrus glances at the detective to see if he has a problem with that plan. "In fact, I think that may be almost the only option we have."
"We could do that... things would be risky, but we can definitely do that." The detective stands up, collecting any of the letters which were not handed back. "I know of a place, near the marshes past the river. We will meet in a tavern at noon, as the deals take place at midnight. Once we Get information, we can find out what mob members they have ties to, and investigate them until we find the boss's location. However, I must inform you all, we will do this by the book. If we go around killing all of Geffano's goons, than we are no better than vigilantes. They must be brought to justice in prison. Once we find the boss, we make a citizens arrest, although we should find sufficient evidence and testimonies. Any questions, or is everyone ready?"

Sirrus nods at his companions ass thy introduce themselves.
"I am called Sirrus. Now, formalities out of the way, how are we going to go about this?"

Good question, let me provide 3 breif summaries.
Sirrus thinks for a moment on what they could do with these.
"Have you done anything yet to find this Capo? And what are the chances they know we have these?"

"So what's our next move?"
Sirrus pulls out and lights a black pipe, pulling out two more and offering them to his companions.
"Perhaps the meeting place for an arms deal...we capture and interrogate one or two of them into telling us more?"
"Works for me."
Sirrus glances at the detective to see if he has a problem with that plan.
"In fact, I think that may be almost the only option we have."
"We could do that... things would be risky, but we can definitely do that." The detective stands up, collecting any of the letters which were not handed back. "None from me....Arrest the mobsters and bring them to justice. Mission understood"
Sirrus smile. it's been a while since he's seen any action.
"Very well. Do we want to go together, do should we stagger it?"
"I think separately would be best. Have the officials go one way and we can watch the back door."
